Medabots: Rust and Blood (OOC/Accepting/PG-16/Co-Host Wanted)

[spoiler=Plot]

No one knows how long it's been since the bombs dropped...but what is known is that they had dropped everywhere.  A desperate attempt to wipe out the armies of Medabots and soldiers alike.  A swift end to a stupid war.  And for what?  So that the world could look like this?  A barren wasteland where nothing would grow, where nothing could thrive?  Humans have lived in these conditions for so long now.  The lucky ones had Medabots of their own.  Naturally, a large majority of Medabots had survived the war, due to their resilience as machines.  Sometimes, they ally themselves with Humans, just as they did in the old days...some sick friendly programming in the back of their mind begging them to do so.

It's a harsh life in the wastes...on this continent that no one's bothered to rename.  Bands of Rogue Medabots, or humans roam the dusty land, in search of precious resources, water being one of the most sought after.  Will you survive in these conditions?  Will you prosper?  Maybe if you got a group of like minded individuals together...you could find what's out there.

But then again...it's probably all Rust by now.

Oh my god.

Someone else watched the show.

I used to catch it on an obscure channel in the late 2000s, back when I had never interacted with the internet before. Really interested to see it in the form of an RP!

Yeah, post-apocalyptic sounds cool. I remember that Medabots: Spirits did something like the military with Kilabots, but despite me liking that show a lot too, I'd like to see something new.

[spoiler=Ranger]

Name: Ralph "Ranger" Diggums

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Ranger is a decently tall fellow at 6 feet even, with a strong build at 180 pounds. He has a handsome, yet boyish face with blue eyes, and messy, long black hair that's flowing over a scarlet headband. He wears a dusty tan bomber jacket, typically undone, over a black T-shirt and a pair of tight jeans with rips at the knees. He's never seen without a large, red scarf wrapped loosely around his neck and hanging down his back. He wears fingerless leather gloves for really no reason other than that he thinks they look cool. He also wears leather armor strapped to his right arm and right leg.

Personality:

Ranger is bombastic and attention-hungry to say the least. He loves to make an entrance and his ego demands that he assume he's far more well-known than he actually is. He's headstrong, foolhardy, and will often prioritize making a show out of something rather than executing the smartest plan possible. He, of course, isn't a complete idiot, but his intelligence doesn't get much of a chance to shine outside of what his ego allows.

He's not a bad dude, however. Ranger's selfishness doesn't extend beyond wanting attention and what others think of him. Otherwise, he has a greater desire to do the right thing and help people out. He has a great respect for people who are as "hot-blooded" as he is, but will, unfortunately, very often underestimate women and people that appear weaker than him.

Biography:

"Ranger" is the name Ralph prefers to go by, for a number of reasons. The primary reason he gives is that of notoriety; he wishes to be recognized and noticed no matter where he is in the wasteland as a bringer of justice and peace. The second reason is that he thinks it sounds super badass, and he's not particularly fond of his real name.

Ranger grew up in a small settlement in the middle of nowhere in the wastelands, knowing nobody else beyond his family and the few people immediately around him. As a child growing up, everyone in his family was given a medal growing up. Where they lived, they only had one medabot to their name and no way to find another. Because of this, that medabot was passed along through the family between generations. Ranger's father acted as the sole protector of the village, being the only one with a medabot, but made a strong point that he had no desire to kill anyone and only did what was necessary to drive off bandits. He was good at it, too, and became a strong influence on Ranger's life growing up.

But he didn't make many friends acting like that. Eventually, he managed to piss off a rather large and imposing band of raiders. See, while Ranger's dad could win almost any proper, respectful medafight in a standard one-on-one, these bandits decided they didn't want to play by the rules. Ranger's dad put up a strong fight, but against overwhelming numbers that battle was soon lost. Granbeetle's body was damage beyond recognition and its user, along with most people in the village, were killed with everything looted. In respect to the medabot's exceptional ability in combat, Granbeetle's medal and medawatch was taken.

When the raiders left, Ranger got to work fixing up Granbeetle. He looked for any spare parts and kits he could find, and after a lot of time and a lot of work managed to get it up and running. Ranger then made a vow to fight against the bandits that oppress villages and innocent people like his father did, and paired Granbeetle with the medal Ranger was given as a child, now named Gustaph. These days, Ranger tries to do just that, traveling from village to village and offering his services as a protector in exchange for food and shelter.

Medabot Partner: Gustaph

Misc:

[spoiler=Gustaph]

Model: KBT08-C "Granbeetle"

Name: Gustaph

Gender: Male

[spoiler=Appearance]

3aa82fbc6d82e04699aa184bb2661dc4.jpg

Personality:

Gustaph takes after Ranger in a very similar way, although subdued and more nervous like that of a child that's trying to be like his role-model. In reality, Gustaph has plenty of patience and often enjoys a more restful and slow lifestyle. It's not that he doesn't enjoy Ranger's antics, but will find himself acting as the voice of reason in more scenarios than he feels comfortable with. Gustaph, by himself, has fairly poor self-confidence and only feels strong enough to do things when he's backed by others. The one trait he shares as strongly as Ranger is the sense of justice and doing the right thing.

Medal: Kabuto - Allows for more efficiency with shooting attacks

[spoiler=Equipment]

Head: Projector - Creates a temporary defensive shield around Gustaph. Gustaph cannot attack while it's in effect and the shield breaks after absorbing enough damage.

Left Arm: Autocannon - Fires a semi-rapid succession of lighter, yet explosive rounds from two barrels.

Right Arm: Howitzer - Fires a single, long-range and high-damage armor-piercing round. Slow rate of fire.

Legs: Slalom - Strong weight and steady movement in rough terrain

Medachange: Hover Tank - Can transform into a hovering tank-form. Allows use of a very strong artillery cannon. Increased attack and defense, but more limited mobility. While it allows hovering, stairs and raised platforms will be a problem.

[spoiler=The Gentle Wanderer]

"..."

Name: Last

Age: 29

Gender: Male

[spoiler=Appearance]

4N3WS2M.png

Height: 187.96 cm

Weight: 98.7 kg

[spoiler=Personality]

Coming from a background of such astronomical atrocities, you'd think that the man known as Last would surely be a grizzled and heartless man, but it couldn't be more farther from the truth.  Last is an extremely kind and generous person.  He often gets himself into trouble, at the sake of those around him, often getting himself hurt in the process.  However, making people happy is more than he could ask for.  In a place such as the wastes, it was hard to come by happiness, so any amount that he could give unto others is more than enough to make himself feel the same way.  His first thought when walking into a new town, or roaming caravan, is what the first thing he can do to help anyone around.  He rarely ever asks for anything in exchange, and only does so when he is truly thirsty.

Although he is kind to those he perceives as innocent, woe betide the poor soul who comes across as the opposite.  Last has a tendency of getting carried away with violence, often killing droves of bandits and slave traders without a hint of mercy on his face.  It's almost as if he enters a trance like state when he goes on a bandit raid, unable to stop himself until every last one of the damned bastards is dead.  He's made a sick habit of parching himself with the blood of his victims, often filling his canteen with the sanguine liquid of the fallen.  He knows it's wrong in a sense, but surviving was all he knew how to do.

[spoiler=Biography:]

Last's first memory isn't particularly his favorite.  The first thing he remembered was being sold into slavery for one barrel of water.  His parent's said nothing to him, as they turned their backs and were lost in the roaring sand storm outside.  He couldn't remember his name...the first thing they did to him was beat any of sense of self out of him.  After that, they put him to work with the other children his age, digging holes in the wastes, hoping to strike liquid gold in this god forsaken land.  The blisters got infected, and the heat almost killed him on numerous occasions, but he kept on toiling for the masters.  He hated this pain, but if he worked hard, he wouldn't get struck.  None of the kids would!  He wanted to make sure that no one had to suffer more than they had to.  If he hated the pain that much, he would hate to see anyone else go through it.  During meal times, he would always be the last to eat, making sure that everyone had gotten their fill before he would.  All of the other children decided to call him Last, since he'd always go about saying 'I'm Last, I'm Last."  Having a name again was strange, but seeing everyone smile at him for his generous acts made him want to go on and keep doing it.  He didn't get much to eat, but after a while, his body became accustomed to all the brutal punishment.  It hardened him.  One day, after digging harder and faster than all the others, he found something shining in the dirt...a strange medal.  He decided that since it wasn't water, he would keep it for himself.  A reward for all his toiling.

After he became a teenager, his body strong but his soul shredded, the traders would promote him to the ranks of scout.  He would survey the lands around the slave trade post, and report if there were any new targets for the camp.  He hated it.  Why would he want to enslave children who were the same as him.  He would usually just look out at a designated area, but never report any findings.  One day, after strolling along some dunes, a gust of wind kicked up some sand, revealing a shiny robot.  Last had heard about these things...his Master supposedly owned one...it was a Medabot!  It was totally offline, no life in it's eyes at all.  Last looked all around for somewhere to turn it on, but only found some sort of opening in it's back.  When he opened it, he realized that something could be inserted into the Medabot's back.  It looked exactly like the size and shape of his treasure.  Upon that epiphany, he placed it into the slot, and the Medabot sprung to life.  The thing had no memory of who or what it was, but thanked him for saving her.  Last decided that since his treasure had awoken her, then she too was a treasure, and named her jewel.  After all, Jewels were among some of the highest treasures around, only outranked by water.

Upon returning to the camp, something unsettling happened to Last.  Memories of being beaten near death, all of those pent up emotions swelling up in him...he ordered Jewel to take up arms against all the bandits in the camp.  They were slaughtered without much resistance.  Humans were no match for machines of war such as Medabots.  His Master was away at the time, but he would come back to find all of his henchmen dead, and all of his water pilfered.  Last freed all of his friends, and other children, and marched them all into a safe haven he had surveyed early on as a scout.  There, he left the water, in exchange that the children would be looked after.  Last has been wandering the wastes ever since, ridding it of the foul dredges of humanity.

Medabot Partner: Jewel

Misc: Listens to R&B.  Insanely Fit/Strong for a human.  S Tier Survival skills.

[spoiler=Personality]

Loyal to a fault, Jewel does almost anything that Last asks of her.  She does so, because she is the only master she has ever known.  She knows Last hates it when she calls him anything along the lines of Master, but something in the back of her brain always wants to call him that.  She honestly loves Last, and loves seeing him be so kind and gentle towards kids.  She knows that when he asks her to kill humans, that it's not the real Last talking, but the one who was hurt so much as a kid back in the day.  She doesn't mind however, and tries to be of any usefulness she can be to him.  If anyone were to hurt, or make fun of last, they should be prepared to get a missile shoved straight where the sun don't shine!  She's hostile towards most anybody who gets closer to Last than she already is, and is extremely cautious around people who stay longer than most.  She loves to read books and magazines when they come across a library, and has learned how to cook as well.  She takes pride in her skills as a "Wife".

[spoiler=Medabot Equipment]

Medal: Kabuto - Allows for more efficiency for all shooting weapons

Head: Black Balista - A Missile that always hits and pierces

Right Arm: Black Fuser - A semi-automatic rifle

Left Arm: Black Blaster - A gatling gun with high rate of fire and damage output

Legs: Black Place - Fast movement in Plain and Jungle like areas

[spoiler=The Maverick Mechanic WIP]

1_B88_E84_A-_B51_A-4_C82-8503-_A53_D2454

“Move... you’re in my light...”

Name: Sven Murata (aka The Torch Man)

Age: 19

Gender: Male

[spoiler=Appearance] D5_E1_D1_E6-3_A60-416_E-96_AA-8372_B80_A

Height: 5’10” (178 cm)

Weight: 150 lbs (68 kg)

Though nationalities mean little in today’s world, its still plainly obvious to an onlooker that Sven is of mixed caucasian and japanese descent. He’s very pale, with platinum blonde hair and narrow hazel eyes so light that you’d swear they were yellow, but built thinly and not particularly tall for a boy his age. For a wastelander, he dresses rather flashy, usually wearing a worn black bomber jacket over a tank top with matching dark trousers and durable steel toed boots. Notably, he also wears fingerless work gloves along with a bent, pitted earring on his left ear and a belt-like choker on his neck. While the former is more for function than aesthetics, the latter two items are style choices meant to hide the tell-tale signs of Sven’s childhood as a slave: a piercing on the left ear for a numerical tag and a distinctive scar on his neck: evidence of damage done by a metal collar.

Due to the nature of his work, Sven almost always appears slightly dirty, with grease and dirt stains on his clothes and skin and (when he can find them) a bandage over a particularly annoying work-related cut/burn/scrape. Sven is almost never seen without some sort of tool, usually carried in a self-made briefcase-like toolbox made of recovered metal and lined with kevlar. He travels the wastes in a recovered army jeep, modified to run entirely on electricity produced by a similarly restored portable generator he keeps in the back of the vehicle, along with various items including a functional medabot maintenance bed and his prized plasma torch.

[spoiler=Personality]Sven is (in)famous for the icy impression he gives off, rarely raising his voice and speaking in a cold, almost distant monotone. This makes him hard to talk to for some people, as well as nearly impossible to read emotionally in casual conversation. Despite the first impression, however, Sven is far from aloof or heartless. He’s outgoing, actively seeking out settlements and other wastelanders, and uncharacteristically generous for someone who makes a living selling his mechanical and combat skills (when he’s able to be, anyway). Though the way he speaks tends to give other people the opposite idea, dull is something Sven certainly is not. He’s both highly intelligent (and a bit eccentric as a result) and possesed of a dry, irreverent wit, which coupled with his deadpan delivery can make for excellent (if a little bit dark) humor.

Sven has his flaws too though. He’s neurotic to a fault, especially regarding his tools (seriously, don’t touch his tools). He’s also fiercly, defiantly independant. Sven strongly dislikes being forced to do anything, and engages every situation in his life on his own terms and no one else’s without exception. Naturally, this has led to quite a number of conflicts and disagreements, during which Sven’s stubbornness becomes even more pronounced. He can also be obsessive, working for hours on end to try and get a piece of machinery to function, even if said machinery is obviously a lost cause. Put simply, Sven cannot be made to do anything he does not want to do, especially when that something involves giving up, and is unfazed by any and all attempts to persuade him otherwise, up to and including threats of violence.

Fortunately, when it comes to altruism, this is almost never a problem. Sven is always willing to lend others a hand, and though he does charge for his skills as a medafighter and mechanic, its usually a pittance and mostly out of necessity (he does need to eat after all). He has a soft spot for children as well, a trait shared with his medabot partner Sine, and can often be found fixing or fabricating toys and shelters for free, or teaching more inquisitive youngsters how to do such things themselves. Sven is also notably cool under pressure, a result of being desinsitized to the harsh realities of the wastes, which makes him invaluable in a crisis, as well as a skilled combatant. All in all, Sven is a good man. He’s a bit odd and can be incredibly stubborn, sure, but at the end of the day Sven is a jovial, kindhearted person and a skilled, powerful ally.

[spoiler=Biography]Sven’s early life was difficult, to say the least. Born into slavery, Sven never knew who his father was (in all likelyhood a member of the very band of slavers who owned him). Along with his mother and several other slaves, Sven was sold to a warlord known as Kragg Jorgson before his first birthday. His earliest memories are of the half-excavated Coalition military base they were taken to, where his young, attractive mother was made a part of the warlord’s harem and Sven was put to work, first as a domestic servant, and then a laborer on the excavation when he was old enough to do some actual digging. He saw very little of his mother when he was young, being allowed only brief visits when the nimble boy was called upon to bring Kragg news of the excavation’s progress in a hasty fashion.

Beatings and starvation (among other atrocities) were common among the slaves, and so to avoid this Sven quickly learned to make himself useful. He gravitated toward the more skilled laborers who were tasked with restoring anything useful recovered from the excavation, and before long his natural affinity for machines, particularly the Coalition’s old medabots, began to show itself. By the time he was 8, Sven had become something of an expert on

[spoiler=The Dashing Duelist]

03_B85_BD7-_C342-4_DE1-_B6_DC-_BD5_C45_D

“See? I told you. I rock.”

Medabot Model: KBT-11-REx Sägehorn Resonator Experiment Type

Medabot Name: Sinensis, “Sine”

Medabot Gender: Male

[spoiler=Appearance]cf021df56214dc6d4cd9545aaf2b4cb513eb7f47

[spoiler=Personality]In contrast to Sven’s eccentric, off-putting demeanor, Sine is all charisma. Well spoken, witty, playful, and confident, Sine exudes the air of the dashing swashbuckler: equally at ease among boon companions as he is in a robattle to the death. His time in the wastes however, has tempered his panache with a gritty pragmatism that sees him assume the role of efficient, merciless soldier more often than not. A romantic at his core, the life of a wastelander and the loss of the medabot closest to his heart has jaded the Sine significantly, and nowadays there’s always a hint of melancholia behind his bravado. Were it not for Sven, Sinensis may well have given into despair long ago. Luckily, Sine sees in his partner someone uncorrupted by the harshness of the wasteland; a sign that all has not been lost, and a reason to continue on without his beloved Camillia in a world that seems to have gone mad.

When it comes to others, Sine is normally quite friendly, though his time with Sven has altered his demeanor significantly. He’s long since ditched his civilized manners (which have no use in the wastes) in favor of a playful, more energized persona that acts as a counterbalance to Sven’s deadpan snark. The two of them tease each other often, much like a pair of old friends, and are extremely close. Unlike Sven though, Sine has quite the temper. Thankfully, his anger is usually reserved for enemies, especially those that lack scruples, but its not uncommon for Sven (or other people) to push Sine’s buttons, resulting in a tirade that is quite typical of his hot-blooded KBT-model lineage. Like Sven, Sinensis also has a soft spot for children, and especially enjoys spending time with them when he can, often entertaining the young ones with games or exaggerated tales of his adventures while Sven is at work fixing something for the adults.

Medal: Kabuto (Rhino Beetle)- A medal with an emphasis on shooting attacks and movement speed. Though Sine isn’t armed with any guns, his KBT series chassis is highly compatible with this medal, which mitigates some of the difficulty he would otherwise have using melee weapons, though it does nothing to help their damage output.

[spoiler=Equipment]HEAD: Resonator- instead of the sword weapon found on the KBT-11M Sägehorn, the KBT-11REx features a prototype support part called the Resonator, which is designed to allow it to compete on even terms in melee combat with the latest KWG series medabots. When active, it causes the entire chassis to vibrate at a predetermined frequency. This vibration is audible to anyone in the immeadiate area as a loud, low buzzing noise reminiscent of the flight of a large beetle. The Resonator greatly increases the cutting power of the swords equipped to the arms while its active, giving them comparable performance to the weapons of melee specialist medabots such as the KWG series. In addition, the vibrations caused by the Resonator give the REx model’s armor an ablative quality, meaning that it shaves off microscopic bits of physical attacks (namely bullets and melee weapons) that make contact with it, decreasing damage dealt. However, the resonator makes ranged attacks impossible to execute while active, as the vibrations greatly interfere with the medabot’s targeting. Naturally, staying hidden is also nearly impossible, thanks to the buzzing. Unfortunately, the prototype part (which was only made to test out unproven technology) is highly tempermental and prone to malfunctions. Sven’s mechanical skills are often the only thing keeping it in working order, and he’s constantly searching for ways to improve its reliability.

LEFT ARM: Linkeklinge- literally “Left Sword” in german, it is a fairly large sword type weapon. Faster and more accurate, but less potent when compared to hammer type weapons.

RIGHT ARM: Rechtklinge- literally “Right Sword” in german, it is a fairly large sword type weapon. Faster and more accurate, but less potent when compared to hammer type weapons.

LEGS: Kraftbein- literally “Powerful Leg” in german. Based on the legs of KBT-03 Kantaros, Sägehorn’s legs are lightly armored and less stable than those of other KBT series medabots, but allow it to move faster. They also retain the leg strength of the KBT series, giving it excellent leaping ability. They work best on flat plains terrain, or in forests.

[spoiler=Misc]•Aside from helping and protecting Sven, Sine’s primary goal is to ascertain the fate of the LDB-03FEx Ptolemy Frequency Experiment type: the main prototype medabot created by Project Tea Leaf. Sine refers to her as Camillia, and is obviously very fond of her.

• Though he cannot eat, Sine loves fruit and anything else with a sweet aroma, probably due to being based on a beetle.

[spoiler=Just Me And My Bot]

ZbtSKm8.png?1

"I don't need you, or anyone else. I've got my cute bot."

Name: Jane Weber

Age: 16

Gender: Female

[spoiler=Appearance]

OluMOfM.jpg

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 121 lbs

[spoiler=Personality]

Jane Weber has been a quiet, lone spirit ever since she was a kid. She doesn't trust anyone, almost to point of being paranoid. The one exception to this rule is her own bot, having been built from the ground up by her own hands. She often confides with her bot when she has something in her mind, and doesn't like to share this information with others. She is especially cautious of adults, especially those in positions of authority. Being more concerned with keeping herself afloat, Jane is self centered.

Having to be careful out in the wastes by herself, Jane has become cautious when approaching any situation. Despite this, she is quick on her feet if something goes wrong in her plans. Her scavenging has given her good attention to detail. Just like she is able to create something out of the trash she collects, she has a knack of making something out of a bad situation.

[spoiler=Biography]

Scavenging has always been Jane's life, ever since she was born. She was raised by nomadic scavengers; all she ever knew was scavenging, starting her scavenging adventures in the hell hole that was the wastes when she was at the young age of 8. Her parents, while meaning the best for her, seemed almost resentful about having her. After all, while she was decent enough at scavenging, she was still a drain to their very limited resources.

When she was 11, on one of her scavenging expeditions, she found a rather odd medal with a jellyfish on it. She knew what it was immediately - somehow, she had been lucky enough to get her hands on a medabot medal. Knowing how rare medals were, she kept her medal a secret from everyone, vowing to build a medabot to have someone alongside her. She spent the rest of her time while scavenging to find the parts for her medabot.

It took her 4 years before she was able to complete her project, but eventually Jolly Roger was born. To her surprise, her little robot was quite a rambunctious one. However, that trait was endearing to Jane... in fact, she thought the robot was the cutest thing in the world, despite the pleas from the medabot that it wasn't. While they had, and still have, their disagreements, they bonded together over the year that they spent together. It was around the time that she built Jolly Roger that she decided it was time to leave her parents and venture the world alone with her partner. Now she wanders the world, scavenging to get by.

Medabot Partner: Jolly Roger

Misc: Her favorite letters are R&B

[spoiler=Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!]

Medabot Model: Piraskull

Medabot Name: Jolly Roger

Medabot Gender: Male

[spoiler=Appearance]

M9_Kaizokuro_portrait.png

[spoiler=Personality]

Jolly Roger believes that he was built for something greater than exploring the wastes, believing that he himself has an incredible power above all other life forms. Needless to say, Roger has a rather inflated ego about himself. The only other person he holds in high regard is Jane - after all, someone who could create something as amazing as Jolly Roger must be great themselves. Contrasting his creator, Roger is outspoken and loud, always looking for a fight.

[spoiler=Medabot Equipment]

Medal: Jellyfish Medal - Specialty is Missile-type Medaparts

Head: Skull Cap - Equipped with 2 small canon-like Missile launchers that launch micro Missiles

Right Arm: Shamshir - A Sword attack with chain damage. Can be used to replace Shark Peg after firing.

Left Arm: Hook Tip - A balanced Hammer attack

Legs: Shark Peg - Hinders movement in exchange for being a large Missile that can be fired. Once fired it takes a bit for the Peg to reload
