WJMP-JP028 サクリファイス・アニマ Sacrifice Anima (Relinquished Anima)
Link 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type Link Effect Monster
ATK 0
Link: Top
Materials: 1 Level 1 non-Token monster
Monster Effect:
You can only use this card’s (1)st effect once per turn.
(1) You can target 1 face-up monster this card points to; equip that face-up monster to this card. (max. 1)
(2) This card gains ATK equal to that equipped monster’s ATK.

It's really not that good.

For one you can't use tokens, so it's harder to summon thank Link Kuriboh.

Second it only has utility if you summon it in your EMZ to eat an opponent's monster that they summoned above the EMZ.

Third link Arrow placement pretty much forces you to ladder out of this if you want to make any more plays.

I guess you can Instant Fusion into TER, eat 1, then summon this, and eat a second monster.

Design looks amazing though

You might play this in Level 1 decks, but it's so easily defeated by just leaving the zones above the EMZ empty.

Maybe the goal is to act like you're gonna use this, but you drop Grinder Golem above the EMZ instead and go into the combo?

Specifying non-Token makes it more specific than Linkuriboh, who has a bonus effect that works with Level 1s and an actual (albeit very low) ATK score.

You pretty much have to rely on your opponent having something worth stealing in the slot above this, which is not too likely, since they can't point directly from their own EMZ to the space this will steal from. it can only take one monster at a time, and can't even rob them of set monsters. It also gains no protection at all as a result.

The only thing creative you could do with this would be to revive it in your MMZ underneath an EMZ and equip your own monsters to it.

I don't think that has any applications though, you're basically stripping the effect off of one of your monsters and using up an S/T Zone if you do that.

This is legitimately bad; actually outclassed by its original version.

It might be interesting if it was double the ATK of the equipped monster.

All things considered, it doesn't seem difficult to put this under the opponent's EMZ. You could then ladder it into trisbaena.

Not amazing, but I still think it has its place.

That would basically require you to have existing link support with left-right arrows in your center-zone

If you meet that pre-req, and can summon a lv1 non-token, then you can access SS1, Monster Effect, Targeting removal, that needs to remain face up to resolve.

It's awful Giga

For what it's worth, I could easily do that in Deskbots using Deskbot 001, but this play has only significance going second. Going first I'm better off just turboing into Trisbaine.

It doesn't even get any sort of protection. What on earth is this?

If you meet that pre-req (haiving a monster that this card can actually point to), and can summon a lv1 non-token, then you can access SS1, Monster Effect, Targeting removal, that needs to remain face up to resolve.

I think this pretty much sums it up. I was hoping for some support, like a Link that could Summon of a monster Equipped to a monster you control. This has no place when you have Linkuriboh. It's just a terrible combination of situational effects that doesn't really do anything. I guess it's a better option than Link Spider in a Level 1 spam Deck, but that's only because a extremely situational effect is still better than an effect a Deck can't use because they're only using the card itself.

Such wasted art. If they do expand Relinquished, they certainly won't use this. It doesn't even work towards the Fusion for crying out loud by treating itself as Relinquished.

Likewise, I could play this in my pet Chaos Piper Decks

Doesn't mean (1) it's good (2) will see higher level play (3) nor does it imply that (1)&(2) need to happen

It makes sense that this monster's limbs are upside-down considering how ass-backwards this card is (hurr hurr).

Joking aside, it really feels like they were deliberately trying to make this as Relinquished-like as possible, but went a little too far into redundancy territory. I mean, yeah, it's cute and all that it can do what it does, but the cost of an up arrow with no benefit to your own side really doesn't help. I mean yeah, unless you're laddering the om nom could be nice, but it relies on your opponent either having an up facing arrow so you can counter-nom a high Link value monster, but even then I doubt they'd leave it unprotected.

In all, I think they were trying to focus too hard on flavour at the cost of utility.

well, it's easy to revive i suppose. throwing it out early gam and getting it in grave means you're just one revival card away from stealing a potential borreload, saryuja, ect. but considering there's better things to use and do in most any situation (and mind control is at 3), that's still one hell of a reach. love the art though. might find a use for it based solely upon that.

It targets, so not sure how you're stealing a Borreload

To be honest, it’s a terrible generic, but it’s probably good enough for the Eyes Reatrict pet deck.

It’s an on-demand way to get Millenium-Eyes illusionist back from grave, which is honestly pretty decent.

There's no Relinquished archetype. Millennium monsters only support the original Ritual.

Therefore, this card sucks.

Well apart from its ****/horrible name riping itself out of "its own archtype"/"the archtype it is supposed to be part of" Lithium showed an interesting way of just using this for its name to enable rapsody of of the level 1 stones in a blue-eyes deck, which adds at least some use for this card.
