Li-Zards (Reptile Archetype) (Written) (Finished)

Since Reptiles are one of the most unrepresented monster types in the game, having only 3 archetypes in the game, being Aliens, Worms and Venom, 4 if you include Reptillannes, but they're really just glorified Venom monsters, and you can probably tell that none of them are good. And with the direction that Yugioh is going with creating card archetypes, being mostly adaptions of anime decks or pretty faced humans and dragons with little changes here and there, this means that the more 'ugly' card types such as Reptiles will get little love in the future, or at least I think so, I would love to be proved wrong.

Combine that with the fact that I've wanted to create an archetype for a while now, and debating between Reptiles and Rocks as the main monster type, even with some plans to make the monsters be BOTH Reptile and Rock type(cheaty, i know), I finally decided on Reptiles, because of the reasons above.

Goddamn, points for formatting alone. Very rarely a set looks this nice; you even put mine to shame. Would suggest these symbols though: ⬅⬆⬇⬈⬉⬊⬋➡✪ . The arrows work for Link Monsters, and the star looks more like the YGO star symbol. But whatever, yours is nice to look at anyway, and REPTILES KONAMI I WILL NEVER 5GET

Really keen to see where this goes. Of course, the set is really bare bones at the moment, with SSing seeming to the "theme" you're going for at the moment. I'm guessing the final product is meant to involve sending to the GY in a lot larger fashion, as seen in the Links, but for now it seems more about speed than anything else. It is functional at the moment, if only because of the prevalence of the SSing among all the cards here. Baby is looking a bit strong, going +2 along with a triple Deck Mill, and Fisherman's sheer versatility just seems arbitrary more than anything else, but Defender and Shaman hint towards something more. Blessed Child is a Link 1 with 2 Link arrows  and perhaps it plussing so much when used correctly is a bit much, considering it doesn't really take up resources to use, but other than that, your Extra Deck is pretty neat as well.

Remember to use your colons! :P

Did you mean to have that black box around the Link arrows and the Level stars? It stands out a little :P

Anyway, my points about Baby and Fisherman being a bit too much still stand. I seem to remember Baby having hard OPT, but now it doesn't? Regardless, it does need it, and with the second effect, milling and drawing together is too much. Is Blessed Child meant to be a Link 1 or 2? 2 Link Arrows, but it says it's a Link 1. Your Link arrows also don't seem to line up on ANY of the above monsters save for Hero; your Link 2 has 3, your Link 3 has 2, your other Link 4 has 2...bit hard to judge them like that.

Glad to see the GY is more of a thing now, especially with cards like Snake Rain about. Spy is a pretty neat card. Rogue being able to mill any Li-Zard is a tad too much without HOPT, but it is your mandatory Squamata after all. A bit too easy to trigger the effect negation, IMO, as it is non-targeting field-wide, and can work on any sort of Summon. Considering you can mill triple Mother with Snake Rain, HOPT on its effect as well. Sadly, Shaddolls made it the standard for archetypes that focus around effects on being milled to have HOPT, and with good reason. With the speed cards can get through decks these days, it's a very risky mechanic. King's GY effect...is too powerful, again. I mean, you're basically preventing your opponent form doing anything that turn, and if you mill it during their turn...what are they supposed to do?

I will say though, despite the hype for me seeing Reptiles...these aren't particularly interesting. There's a bit of flavour like Mother to Baby, and each effect does represent the monster's name/occupation to an extant, but the sparseness of anything other than pure support doesn't make it seem like it's doing much. This extends to Links, with the exception of Hero which I l o v e, and Kahuna, which hints towards something more. More like combo.dek, without really doing anything new. It doesn't have to be gimmicky, just give them their own twist. I see a bit of effect negation; is that intended to be a theme? If so, why? Not asking because it's bad, just wondering why you did choose it. Flavour is important for making sets fun, at least imo. I see you making this archetype as a sort of Tribe, so perhaps you can work on monsters gaining strength with other members of that tribe, working on beatdown, or protecting each other or something. Like Blessed Child on steroids. Perhaps you can be a little generic in places after you've done a lot of nerfing; SSing Reptiles or something, to allow for a bit of splashing. Not a priority, but might be something to keep in mind.

Your S/T is a little more interesting, but could probably do with HOPT on their sent to the GY effects. Definitely do with it, actually. They could also say "If this card is sent to the GY by a card effect" which removes the need of the awkward "except activation" portion of the effect. Yeah, a lot of these cards suffer from TOO STRONG WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS syndrome. They don't necessarily need a gimmick either, but just some more variety here and there other than searching+SSing.
