Nekroz of Ragin

Nekroz of Ragin (WATER)
Level 5
Psychic/Ritual/Effect
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned without using "Nekroz of Ragin". You can only use the (1) and (2) effects of this card's name once per turn.
(1) You can discard this card, then target up to 3 of your banished "Nekroz" cards; return them to the GY.
(2) You can draw cards equal to the number of monsters your opponent controls that were Special Summoned from the Extra Deck (max. 2).
2300/1800

1st effect is meant to strengthen your grind game by recycling mirrors for further searchers and the lone copy  of Brionac you probably banished with Mirror for Trishula. Ah yes, Trishula; by returning a Clausolas + Brionac you can Trishula your opponent easily again.

The second effect is probably the more useful part of the card. Essentially an OPT Pot of Greed that, much like Trishula, your opponent has to play around unless they dare give you overwhelming advantage. But it can be played around by getting rid of Ragin or by only leaving 1 ED monster on the board so your opponent only draws 1.

Really, I do so love this card-especially in terms of what it'd likely look like as well. Ariel with Ragin armor? Yes please.

CONTINUING ON

Second effect is good if your opponent tries to go full Knightmare on you, but I'm concerned that they might also have Tri-Gate Wizard at that point, and if they do....

Basically, that depends on what your opponent's got in backrow, which is why I wouldn't be too opposed to it being at Spell Speed 4. Rituals need their draws.

That being said, this card can also help reload the GY for more plays with the Nekroz Ritual Spells, so I may be just talking out the tuckus.

Good card, overall.

Overall it's a nice but it would be nice to have to extra summoning restriction of the other Rituals: The other level 5 (and level 6) has the condition you can't use itself for its ritual summon.

The discard effect is a bit mid to late game, so it probably won't see play at more than 2. It's nice that the Trisula play with Brionac and Clausolas has an alternative since Brionac is limited. However, to make Trishula with this card you need Unicore . . . . which is also limited.

The field effect is nice, not worth ritual summoning since it relies on your opponent and it's capped very tightly at only 2

Here I would ask about the lore, but it seems fairly obvious this is "Ariel, Priestess of the Nekroz" with "Fabled Ragin", not too bad, makes sense.

The card looks solid enough to me. I'm no Nekroz player so IDK if it breaks anything, though. Last time I saw them was with a build focused on Summoning Catastor to break boards with its effect.

I was about to mention that this should be Dragon since Exa is who wears armors from monsters with Levels with multiples of 5, but Sceptyr's comment made me remember Ariel. If this is supposed to be Ariel in Nekroz armor, then it's good, and an artwork I would like to see as well.

This is pretty much what I did for Dewloren (except it was returning cards from field/Graveyard to hand, and it also counted your own monsters).

Make sure you give your own review of the card, instead of just comparing what you did for an earlier design with it.

Reviewing-wise (and disregarding the Level 5 multiple thing for Catastor/Exa and 1 member per Level thing), it's fine since you'll be banishing a fair bit with the Ritual Spells in the GY otherwise (and yeah, Mirror fodder). Draw power works too, least considering how much ED summoning is still going in light of MR4. Reliant on the opponent, yes, but just make do with it, I guess. You'll probably get a draw off this unless opponent plays new Monarchs or something.

It's been a while since I played Nekroz (though to be fair, I didn't really tech Catastor because lack of options to summon him outside Kaleido and I guess Shurit, who's now banned). Card should be fine for what it does.

Oh yeah, hope this isn't breaking any rules or nothin', but I finally put finishing touches to a potential art for the Nekroz of Ragin. I was serious about how awesome that card looked, and its time I backed it up.

You should really post this in Showcase so you can get CnC on it.

(Then again, you already gave a review under the AC, so that's dealt with)

Thank you all for your comments! Sorry for the kinda late reply, been busy lately.

I'm personally not a big fan of Spell Speed 4 effects, as I feel they don't promote interaction. Not to mention it'd look kind of out-of-place considering no other Nekroz monster is SS4.

Fixed this, thank you!
