Ritual Spell

This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Vendread" Ritual Monster from your hand or Graveyard. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field, and/or send 1 "Vendread" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, whose total Levels equal the Level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon. The Ritual Summoned monster is destroyed during the End Phase of the next turn. You can only activate 1 "Revendread Evolution" per turn. this seems fake

I mean it's literally a pic, but yeah ok we can run with this

I accidentally made a more broken-er version of this back in January.

As for the card in its current iteration, it's honestly pretty good. Gets Dreads out of the deck, gets searches off Slayer/Battlelord (haha chimera good joke) and is a second ritual spell, something the deck has been dying for since CIBR. It's not pre-prepable, but honestly being able to run 6 ritual spells, prep and pre-prep is still pretty good.

And hey, since it's the next turn's End Phase, Origins can block it and the condition won't apply further. So that's an interaction.

Speaking as a person who turned his paw to making such a Vendread Ritual oneself, I 1) tip my hat to you, Cake, and 2) would like to take an essay-length screed here to say this: this card is absolutely amazing, even without Pre-Prep compatibility-especially with how well a lot of the Vendreads can search-and especially, how well it works with pumping out Vendreads from the Deck.

I've had people in the commentary on this card at House of Champs deride how little ability this Deck has in searching out the Spell/Trap stuff in proper fashion. While understandable for a Deck, especially a chokepoint-ridden build such as Rituals and a field-demanding adavantage-interfering playstyle such as Vendreads have, this card helps them in so much fashion that I feel I must extrapolate for Yugipedia to save them time.

Forget the hand or field thing. Let's look at what this can pump out from the Deck for the Ritual Summon of ANY VENDREAD RITUAL FROM HAND OR GY

[spoiler=Revolution Combos'']

1) For Slayer, this can turn out any Level 4 Zombie in hand or field and/or a Vendread Striges, which only needs the revelation of another Vendread in the hand to bring out to the field as fodder for Zombie Synchros/Vampire Sucker/any other Vendread Ritual.

2) For Chimera (which is far more usable with the debut of this than one would think, especially with that destruction negation) can be brought out with, again, a Level 4 from hand or field and a Core or Anima from the Deck; one can banish from GY to Summon itself, the other is banished Vendread Mezuki. Oh yeah, Core being brought back for a follow-up Ritual Summon with Origin-which, again, Evolution feeds into in a loop, much like the destruction of the Ritual Monsters does-makes your next Ritual an untargetable.

3) For Battlelord? How bout a Level 4 and Houndhorde from the Deck? Or a Striges in the hand and a Chimera in the Deck, for follow-up play?

4) Abbreviation for all these-YOU CAN USE ANOTHER COPY OF RITUAL IN THE DECK TO SUMMON ONE FROM HAND OR GY. Sorry for the capslockery, but that Evolution means Slayer's even less hand-intensive than normal now, and that's your main Ritual Spell searcher if things go wonky-which now has a reliable target for its Ritual Spellery if you don't open with Evolution.

Speaking of which, let me close on that hypothetical argument of Vendread's issue with the backline. I'm going to hand a disclamer for my next words by saying this is all still subject to change with the rest of the revealed Spells/Traps, but let's be real-Slayer's death sequence, both Preps, and now both Rituals total out to 12-15 ways to either open with a Ritual or search one.

Let's not even get into the possible outside cards now-excluding Slayer, if having a Ritual Spell or search thereof from what will now be an average of 3/10ths  to 15/40 3/8ths of the Deck isn't enough for this Deck to get what it needs, no amount of it will be-and Ghost Girl McFivehead aside, I'm not entirely sure we're ready for a Deck such as Vendread, which can quick-play banish stuff your opponent's got on the field with the right fixed Ritual, to BE that consistent.

I remember the lethargy-inducing Evigishki loops in GIshki. I DEFINITELY remember the time where 32 of 36 Decks in certain events was a Ritual Deck where everything floated and everything clicked. I'm perfectly fine with this not getting near that.

And I know this sounds downright piteous in a review of a beneficial Vendread Ritual Spell-one I think fixes so many of their ills-but the best way to fix Vendread isn't' through anything Konami giveth, but from what Konami taketh away-from other busted Decks through the banlist. Give this grizzled proprietor of the BlaDeS of Change Workshop bans on every True King Trap, Astrograph, and limits on Lycoris over a Vendread Spell searcher anyday-let's all get a better appreciation of addition by subtraction in this format.

Alright, that should be enough, I've ranted and taken away enough of all your time. BDS, signing off.
