[FLOD-TCG] Super Team Buddy Force & Kai-Den Kendo Spirit

Recommended Posts

Super Team Buddy Force

Normal Trap Card

Target 1 face-up monster on the field: Special Summon 1 Monster from your Hand or GY with the same type but a different name. If this card in your Spell/Trap Zone is destroyed by an opponents card effect: You can set 1 “Super Team Buddy Force” from your deck into your S/T zone.

Kai-Den Kendo Spirit

lv5 WIND

Scale: 9

Pendulum Effect

If a monster(s) is Pendulum Summoned: Return this card from the Pendulum Zone to the hand.

Warrior/Pendulum/Spirit/Effect

When this card is Normal Summoned: You can choose 1 card in your Pendulum Zone, and send to the Graveyard all cards your opponent controls in the same column as that card. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card was Normal Summoned or flipped face-up this turn: Return this card to the hand.

ATK/2400 DEF/1000

So these are the last 2 cards from Flames of Destruction to be announced (where the info for these 2 are from YGOrg though as they stated not 100% accurate yet where these will be updated once the full info is up where on YGO Wiki Union of Super Friends is known as Super Team Buddy Force and is listed as a secret rare.)

Still for what we know so far Union of Super Friends is a nice flexible revival card similar to back to the front but can summon Monsters in attack, from the hand and if destroyed by an opponents card effect floats another copy from the deck (which can be really good if you trigger it upon being targeted for destruction.)

Kendo Spirit gives the impression these Warrior Spirit Pendulums are going to be some form of Archetype focusing on column based tactics like Mekk-Knights though this new one being a spirit is interesting since it can be resummoned again and again to destroy an opponents card that's lined up to your Pendulum Zones.

Good lord, I had totally forgotten that Pendulum Spirits were even a thing, now I recall there being others like that one. Well, it is pretty much the same, except you choose only one of them, and you get to send all their cards, which I guess is nicer in some ways, if you are going to play these, you are most likely going to want to use cards that move cards around, so having the ability to focus on one specific one for extra damage helps.

The other card seems pretty neat, as it doesn't have any negative conditions on it, that helps a lot, and you get to set others if destroyed by an opponent's card, it actually works very well in Artifact, since they can use the both from hand and GY and are Fairy only.

Wait, no level restriction on Super Friends?  Interesting...

Feels like it could be a flexible card for Dark Magician (since it's fairly easy to search/dump in the deck and acts as extra copies of Eternal Soul/Magician's Navigation).

Use in Cyberse/Gouki/Rokket to bring back a high rated link?

Satellarkn--? *shot*

Potentially useful, but being a trap and being forced to control a monster might make it useless.  You know, kinda like the last (?) generic trap card with Ojamas featured on it.

This archetype was y first thought after reading the card xD

A also skipped the card type and assumed it was a Normal Spell, and immediately thought that it could actually have some degree of impact. But as a Trap... I doubt it.

honestly, if it were a spell with the same effect, it would be busted. as a trap, it has the inherent weakness of needing to be set before use, but the strength of laughing at most EP destruction attempts. as slow as it is, that's the only thing keeping it from being absolutely insane.

after seeing a image leak video shown by MegaCaptial C for the cards the Pendulum is confirmed as a scale 9 Pendulum and it looks like Union of Super Friends is leaning more towards being Super Team Buddy Force as its official name.

Also Super Team Buddy Force basically has a image of all the main Ojama's on it.

If it were a spell it would need a couple of restrictions ( a hard OPT to begin with), but the concept itself its really cool, it would be a less potent TOB (not counting its restrictions)

I mean, it'd be a power spell.  It'd more likely than not just be used as a Monster Reborn 9/10.  You'd still have to commit something to the board for it to work too, so it'd likely be pretty good but not game changing (might warrant a bit more Ghost Ogre use, but that's it I'd think).  It'd probably would've had a bit of a "Soul Charge at 3" run before being limited or semi'd.

...but it's a trap, so...

A reminder that a generic scale 9 without restrictions is very strong. I’m glad that the Spirit Pendulums got a second one for that, since there’s a wealth of generic low-scales. All that’s really needed is a better way to make the engine more consistent beyond Isolde, and you’ll be looking at a strong tool in the ol’ box.
