Glorious Numbers
Normal Spell Card
You can only use each effect among the (1)st and (2)nd effects with this card’s name once per turn.
(1) If you control no monsters: Target 1 “Number” Xyz Monster in your GY; Special Summon that monster, then draw 1 card.
(2) You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 “Number” Xyz Monster you control; attach 1 card from your hand to that monster as Xyz Material.

If you are playing Numbers, this seems alright, free Special Summon that puts it in the MMZ and gets a draw, plus you get to attach stuff to it as well. Requires no monsters, which is a bummer.

I was reading it and thinking "this is going to just be a bad Monster Reborn, isn't it?"

But it's actually not completely terrible. It's obviously very niche and specific, but it's at least decently strong. The first thing I can think of is a possible tech in Utopia decks to bring Number 39 back, although it is competing with other cards.

IDK what all the numbers do, but if there's one with a Scrap Dragon/Diamond Dire Wolf effect, that seems like it might be the best use, since it can get itself in the Graveyard.

>bagooska dies turn 3

>ss it back again with this card for another turn

While there are many viable targets (RUM decks anyone?), it's hard to think of a Deck that can use this consistently. First thing that comes to mind is Photon/Galaxy (or any other major R8 Deck except Gimmick Puppet), where you can Xyz Summon Tachyon or any of the other Galaxy-Eyes R8 (Photon Lord anyone?), go into Full Armor, detach to destroy, go into Dark Matter Dragon, use its mill effect, then Summon Tachyon from the GY using this card in order to Full Armor->Dark Matter again. Or Cipher Blade if you're not running that many Dragons.

Hey, this card can even fuel C107 and Photon Lord with specific on-hand materials!

Would say UTL, but you'd have to wait until your MP2 for that particularly combo.

sigh just saw the no monsters requirement. brb sitting in the corner and crying

I literally had to double check when this was used in Zexal. I knew it was Vector that used it, I couldn't remember when (I thought it was later, but turns out it was at Sargasso).

On another note (aside from the addition to OPT clause), I like that in addition to its anime effect (which was left unchanged), they simply tacked on another effect, so that the monster you revived can potentially do something (unless you're Utopia ofc, in which case you can just chaos Xyz change).

should had made it generic xyz support

At first I was all like

Then I realized that idea could be used to reanimate Infinity and was like

But mostly this is gonna be a gift for the ladder Xyzes, most of all-give them a second life. Perhaps it could reward using the latter version of a Number monster that can ladder up, then bringing it back on an empty field for ROUND 2 with its laddered form (Utopia most of all gives me hope on that front.) Plus that draw to recoup the loss is...intriguing I admit.

That 'empty of monsters' clause taketh away that hope tho-especially considering most boards that beat yours may not be so...receptive...to you using a Spell to revive monsters, if they even let you.

In short, 6/10, better than Xyz Revenge, run if you're not already hard up on Monster Reborns and Soul Charges, spurn for Back to the Front or Super Robot Buddy Team Hyper Force Go or whatever its called in all other instances.

The year is 2018, why are people still whining about CDI?

I prefer that this is number support, because tbh I think it's kinda neat that we get weaker cards that fit a theme, but this summoning a 3 year old boss isn't going to break anything.

this card can't even summon CDI or even Nova. Besides, those cards are old-hat.

Overall, the most relevant targets for this are basically rank 7/8+ for the biggest impact. The lower rank Numbers have mostly been pretty underpowered since the hayday of 101. Heh, remember when that card was good?

In the end it's like a Shuffle Reborn for decks that have Number Xyz's. It's not amazing, but it's not too bad I suppose. Making it a +1 on-use isn't too shabby.
