Orion, The Dragon of Wishes

12*

2000/2000

Dragon

LIGHT

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Can only be Special Summoned by its own effect. If you control no monsters and you have no cards in your hand, you can Special Summon this card (from your deck) by banishing 5 cards from your GY. This cards summon cannot be negated. Once per turn, during your draw phase: If you have no cards in your hand, you can Special Summon 1 monster from your Deck instead of drawing a card. You must control no other monsters and have no cards in your hand to activate and resolve this effect. You can only Special Summon 1 "Orion, The Dragon of Wishes" per duel.

Picture this scene, your low on LP, your opponent wiped your board and your hands empty, you have one shot of making a board. you summon this card, don't draw, and summon a monster so you can begin your combos and work with whatever cards are left in your GY. Its a pretty situational card I know but give me your thoughts

General issues with this card are:

- When are you going to have zero cards on hand during the course of a duel, except if you somehow play your entire hand face-down (assuming they're backrow) and have cards in the GY already. Granted, I guess you do have Lawnmowing and stuff, but that's it for early plays. Mid/late game, sure, you probably got the GY requirement handled. Or you can use Omega or something; idk.

- Lack of protection on a small body (comparatively for a Level 12). 2000 ATK and DEF isn't exactly great though, considering its other effect. At least it's not dead drawing in your hand when you summon it.

Granted, you do get to summon ANY monster you want, but this falls into the same category as gimmicky anime cards; the situations where you'd play this card are very limited (no hand and no monsters), plus if you get Strike'd (or summon negated), that's it for you considering the OPD.

Why wait until you are low in LP or in topdecking state when you can run a backrow-ish deck and Summon this much earlier? Demise True Draco variants, or any "Cards of Demise" deck for that matter, could have some fun with that.

And yet... I don't find this overpowering at all. A free Summon, but with a small body, and while summoning any monster out of the Deck is potent, the restrictions should keep it on the fair side. In a competitive environment, this most likely would be used just as a free monster for Link laddering plays.
