[Written] Rotating "Season" Archetype

This Archetype is meant to float into the next logical season, so the winter ones float into spring and spring into summer etc. I tried a few hands in a "Six Season" deck I made and it makes a board of "Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En" and some "Season" board presence pretty consistantly. Though it also brick sometimes due to the outside support they need for building boards and their multiple Field Spells.

 

Winter monsters are level 2 FLIP monsters. Spring is level 4 beaters. Summer is level 5 "Boss" monsters. Fall is level 3 hand traps.

 

I use Fall because it sounds better than Autumn. Fight me about it.

Winter Season Snow Man

Effect/WATER/Aqua/level 2

FLIP: tribute this card; destroy 1 card on the field, then, special summon 1 "Spring Season" monster from your hand or GY. If this card leaves the field through an opponent's card's effect: activate 1 of the following effects

● destroy 1 card on the field

● special summon 1 "Spring Season" monster from your hand or GY

450 ATK/600 DEF

 

The last effect is to prevent them from simply being worked around by effects. It pops and floats, what more do you want?

 

Winter Season Scary Spruce

Effect/EARTH/Plant/level 2

FLIP: tribute this card; activate 1 of the following effects

● special summon 1 “Spring Season” monster from your deck.

● draw 1 card, then, add 1 “Spring Season” monster from your GY to your hand

If this card leaves the field through an opponent’s card’s effect: activate 1 of the following effects

● add 1 “Spring Season” monster from your deck to your hand

● special summon 1 “Spring Season” monster from your hand or GY

500 ATK/500 DEF

 

Floats and creates advantage, but its slow.

Spring Season Sakura Beast

Effect/EARTH/Beast/level 4

If this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle: you can tribute this card; special summon 1 “Summer Season” monster from your deck. This card gains 200 ATK for each “Season” monster in your GY.

1700 ATK/200 DEF

 

Filler. Bad card. You might run 1 because its searchable and a pretty ok normal.

 

Spring Season Protective Mother

Effect/EARTH/Beast/level 4

If this card is normal or special summoned: add 1 “Summer Season” monster from your deck to your hand. You can destroy 1 other “Season” card you control, then, special summon 1 “Summer Season” monster from your hand.

1900 ATK/200 DEF

 

Lonefire for "Summer Season". Pretty good attack stat. Can pop Field Spells you don't need anymore.

Summer Season Dark Tree

Effect/Earth/Plant/level 5

Once per turn, during either player’s turn (Quick Effect): you can banish 1 “Season” card from your GY; destroy 1 card on the field. If this card leaves the field: add 1 “Fall Season” monster from your deck to your hand.

2200 ATK/1000 DEF

 

A Master Peace without protection outside of its outstanding offense. And it floats, which is good. I'd run 1 because it bricks and is searchable.

 

Summon Season Heated Sunstone

Effect/FIRE/Fiend/level 5

Once per turn: you can tribute 1 “Season” monster; draw 1 card. If this card leaves the field: add 1 “Fall Season” monster from your deck to your hand.

2400 ATK/1000 DEF

 

Note that it can pop itself. Tributing "Season" monsters isn't that bad as quite a few can float and some outlive their usefulness. Run 1 at most because it bricks and is searchable.

Fall Season Scared Crow

Effect/DARK/Winged-Beast/level 3

If you control a “Season” card (Quick Effect): You can discard this card to the GY, target 1 monster on the field; the targeted monster’s original ATK becomes 0. You can banish this card from your GY; add 1 “Winter Season” monster from your deck to your hand. You can only activate each of the effects of “Fall Season Scared Crow” once per turn.

0 ATK/1900 DEF

 

This archetype has no problem getting over big monsters, so this card is not that great. Konami would advice you to use this with Sakura Beast, which is sort of its intented purpose. But honestly it's more useful for its floating effect than for its hand trap effect.

 

Fall Season, the Wicked Leafles

Effect/DARK/Plant/level 3

If you control a “Season” card (Quick Effect): You can discard this card to your GY, target 1 card your opponent controls or in their hand and 1 card you control or in your hand; destroy the targetted cards. You can banish this card from your GY; special summon 1 “Winter Season” monster, from your deck, in face-down defense position. You can only activate each of the effects of “Fall Season, the Wicked Leafles” once per turn.

1000 ATK/1200 DEF

 

Best card in the Archetype. This is what makes the deck usable. Taking cards from your opponent's hand is invalluable and the cost is surprisingly low if you know what you're doing.

Field Spell

Once per turn: You can destroy 1 card in your hand; add 1 “Winter Season” monster from your deck to your hand. Once per turn, during either player’s turn (Quick Effect): You can change 1 face-down Defense-position monster you control to face-up Attack or Defense Position. “Spring Season” in the card text of a “Winter Season” monster is treated as “Winter Season”. If a “Winter Season” monster is Special Summoned: change it to face-down defense position.

 

Let's you build turn one boards with Winters.

 

Spring Season’s Coming!

Field Spell

Once per turn: You can destroy 1 card in your hand; add 1 “Spring Season” monster from your deck to your hand. “Summer Season” in the card text of a “Spring Season” monster is treated as “Spring Season”. “Spring Season” monsters you control 700 ATK. “Spring Season” monsters cannot be targeted by card effects.

 

Spring beatdown and Rank 4s.

 

Summer Season’s Coming!

Field Spell

Once per turn: You can destroy 1 card in your hand; add 1 “Summer Season” monster from your deck to your hand. “Fall Season” in the card text of a “Summer Season” monster is treated as “Summer Season”. Reduce the Level of “Summer Season” monsters in your hand by 1. “Summer Season” monsters cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.

 

Very meh. But you have to run 1 otherwise you can brick really hard and go minus 1 for no reason.

 

Fall Season’s Coming!

Field Spell

Once per turn: You can destroy 1 card in your hand; add 1 “Fall Season” monster from your deck to your hand. “Winter Season” in the card text of a “Fall Season” monster is treated as “Fall Season”. (Quick Effect): target 1 face-down monster you control; return it to your hand. Once per turn: You can add 1 of your banished “Fall Season” monster to your hand.

 

Might look bad. But look at all the combos you can do. It ALWAYS ends you with a Leafles and Crow in hand and no advantage lost. Which is really good.

 

the Big Season Debate

Normal Spell

Roll a six-sided die, then apply the result.

● 1: add 1 “Coming!” card from your deck to your hand.

● 2: add 1 “Winter Season” card from your deck to your hand.

● 3: add 1 “Spring Season” card from your deck to your hand.

● 4: add 1 “Summer Season” card from your deck to your hand.

● 5: add 1 “Fall Season” card from your deck to your hand.

● 6: add 1 “Season” card from your deck to your hand.

 

This Archetype really deserves a better searcher. But this is just SO FUN! No need to have an "Except the Big Season Debate" clause because if you search itself you're dumb trading in a free search for a die roll dependant search and it can't be used for deck thinning anyway because of the die roll.

Auxesia of the Winter Season

Xyz/Effect/WATER/Fiend/RANK 2

2 level 2 monsters

FLIP: Activate 1 of the following effects

● draw 1 card

● destroy 1 card on the field

● add 1 "Season" card from your GY to your hand

(Quick Effect): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, target 1 attack position monster on the field; that monster cannot attack this turn. If this card leaves the field: You can add 1 “Spring Season” monster from your deck to your hand.

1900 ATK/1700 DEF

 

The FLIP effect is for "Winter Season's Coming!". And it floats. Not OPT because it's basically a worse Gachi Gachi anyway. Also, FLOATING!

 

Auxo of the Spring Season

Xyz/Effect/LIGHT/Fiend/RANK 4

2 level 4 monsters

This card’s summon cannot be negated. During your main-phace this card is unaffected by your opponent’s card’s effects. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, target 1 Spell/Trap card you control and 1 Spell/Trap card your opponent controls; switch control of those targets, card effects cannot be chained to this effects activation. If this card leaves the field: You can add 1 “Summer Season” monster from your deck to your hand.

2350 ATK/1700 DEF

 

I love mischievous card effects. Uhm, and it floats. Protection on your turn so they don't just kill it with the cards that it would steal. Unchainable so neither player's just chains after activation so they don't lose their card.

 

Damia of the Summer Season

Xyz/Effect/FIRE/Fiend/RANK 5

2 level 5 monsters

(Quick Effect): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this card gains 700 ATK until the End Phace. (Quick Effect): You can tribute this card; “Season” monsters you control are unaffected by your opponent’s card effects until the End-Phace, also, you take no battle damage this turn. If this card leaves the field: You can add 1 “Fall Season” monster from your deck to your hand.

2600 ATK/0 DEF

 

If your opponent would destroy it, just lett it commit suicide instead, they'll never take it alive! Also it floats upon suicide. Also it can become a big 4k buff boy.

 

Carpo of the Fall Season

Xyz/Effect/DARK/Fiend/RANK 3

2 level 3 monsters

Once per turn, if your opponent activates a monster’s effect (Quick Effect); You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and discard 1 card from your hand: negate the activation, and if you do, return it to the owner’s hand. If this card leaves the field: You can add 1 “Winter Season” monster from your deck to your hand.

950 ATK/2050 DEF

 

Generic Rank 3. Better in archetype though because of the floating so you don't go minus.

 

Spirit of the Season

Link-2/Effect/LIGHT/Fiend/

Arrows: Down, Left.

1 “Season” monster

If this card attacks a Defense-position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. This card gains 100 ATK for each "Season" card in your GY. If this card leaves the field: add 1 "Season" monster from your deck to your hand.

1800 ATK

 

I like linky boys even though this archetype doesn't need it. It doesn't help with advantage, board pressence or OTK's. But you'll still run it because what else do you do with a Winter Season and Spring Season on board and you're not tight on extra space anyway. It works well with the Fall Season's and its an OK beater.
