Watch Cat

[spoiler=The Card]

EARTH Level 1 [ Beast / Effect ] 0/1800

If you control no monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. During your End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned this turn: You can banish this card; Set 1 Continuous Spell directly from your Deck. You can only use each effect of "Watch Cat" once per turn.

This seems like a pretty decent card. I've been testing it out in a number of decks.

It might be deemed too slow for top tier decks but I find it that there's a ton of underdog decks that can benefit from this card.
Starting up, it being a Special Summon means it doesn't tend to bother the rest of the plays of whatever deck it gets dumped in and sets up stuff.

I've tried setting up:

Super Solar Nutrient for Lonefires
Convulsion of Nature/Archfiend in their own theme.

Ancient Gear Fortress so that Wyvern can focus on other stuff.

Supply Units
Messenger of Peace
Fire Formation Tenki
Return of the Monarchs

Etc....

It tends to be harmless Deck-thinning that's fun to experiment with. One of my favorite cards printed recently.
What do you people think about it?

Looks like a good card to me. As good as Photon Thrasher at least. Even if you are not paying it for the search, you can play it as a monster that reaches the board easily and follow up with laddering, or at least Linkuriboh. As Level2 it could have been amusing in Sandayu/Level2 Beast decks, but Level1 is still fine due to the aforementioned Linkuriboh.

Not to mention of reviving it with good old CotH, or the new Back to Frontlines during the opponent's turn and get the search.

You only get the effect during YOUR End Phase, so you can't SS it and get the search on the opponent's turn.  It's the only thing that really irks me about the card.  Art makes up for it though.

Ah, I stand corrected, then.

Now I wonder if there is some way to Summon this as a "frebbie" at the end of a combo. That way instead of ending your turn with a roaming non-ED monster on the board as I have seen some combos do, you would get a Cont. Spell instead.

Sadly not that I know of. It prefers getting to the field before the rest of the combo and sitting there until the end, watching, judging, like cats do when they are resting at a high place with their eyes half-closed, following you with their eyes in amusement.

If you deem it worth using on, you can always use revival on it. Kynka-Byo, D.D.R., or any of the dozen Spell/Traps that can bring it from the GY.... or One for One.

The good thing is that it doesn't care how it got Special Summoned, it just has to be Special, and it has to be your turn.

I can only think of playing this in anything that ladders with Firewall Dragon or Saryuja so after you are done with the board-building you drop this at the end through the effects of either of those monsters xD

Most likely Firewall's since I usually see Saryuja's extra Summon as a laddering step.
