Welcome, one and all, to the fourth AGM group project, released on my fourth anniversary on this site!

[spoiler=Prompt]

Kengensei

YGO, more than a lot of other shonen, prides itself on one thing: its rivals. These aggressive, often dickeaded individuals stand out as a testament to willpower and sheer force. Whether they cooperate with the protagonist on a regular basis, act as a roadblock and measuring stick to judge the protagonist by, or something in between, they're arguably the best part of any given YGO series.

They've also usually got the most powerful monsters on the side that fights big villains.

Kengensei is a rushdown, all-in offensive, obliterating everything in its path and leaving no survivors. The monster presence, composed of LIGHT and DARK Dragons, Spellcasters, and Fiends, is heavily focused on spam, destruction, and ATK numbers, with a side of the typical battle-oriented boss-maintaining strategy that that entails. The Spell/Trap Cards assist with this goal, acting as consistency, cheap protection, and helping overwhelm with your numbers of big beaters on board. Most of it is even entirely costless, or the costs actually help you make plays faster like with Destiny Draw.

The primary goal here is Fusion and Xyz Summons, and laddering them to access higher and higher pinnacles of immense power and increasingly oppressive stun/negation effects.

Like with most rivals, this Deck has a defined ace monster you want to see by any means necessary- Kengensei Emperor Dragon, your Main Deck big boy. Some of your Extra Deck monsters even benefit with bonus effects if you use it as Material (think Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon), which is why some cards exist to either pretend to be it or get you to it faster.

So, the base gimmick of being an aggro archetype with focus on a named primary boss does make Kengensei a bit bricky by nature . . . until we wound up with two straight E-Calls and a slightly restricted Lonefire for the archetype, helping get to that named boss incredibly quickly. The Fusion/Xyz double focus was a bit odd, and I wish we had more than two Fusions, but I think we worked through it decently well.

[spoiler=Main Deck Monsters]

Kengensei Emperor Dragon

DARK - Level 8 - Dragon/Effect - 3000/2500

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand or Graveyard) by Tributing 1 face-up "Kengensei" monster you control (You can only Summon 1 "Kengensei Emperor Dragon" from your Graveyard per turn this way). This card cannot be destroyed or banished during the Battle Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card battled: You can destroy 1 face-up card your opponent controls, and if the destroyed card was a monster; you can Special Summon 1 "Kengensei" monster from your Graveyard with less original ATK than the destroyed monster.

Kengensei Empress Dragon

DARK - Level 8 - Dragon/Effect - 1500/3000

If your opponent controls a monster that was Summoned from the Extra Deck: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, if this card is in Attack Position: You can treat this card as "Kengensei Emperor Dragon", until the End Phase, and if "Kengensei Emperor Dragon" is in your Graveyard when this effect resolves; this card gains the effects of "Kengensei Emperor Dragon". If this card is Tributed for the Summon of "Kengensei Emperor Dragon", or detached from an Xyz monster that names "Kengensei Emperor Dragon" in its card text: You can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard.

Kengensei Tornado Dragon

DARK - Level 6 - Dragon/Effect - 2300/1700

If you control another "Kengensei" monster with a different name, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. (Quick Effect): You can return 1 "Kengensei" monster you control and 1 card your opponent controls to the hand. You can only use this effect of "Kengensei Tornado Dragon" once per turn.

Kengensei Scouts

DARK - Level 4 - Fiend/Effect - 1500/200

Kengensei Halberdiers

DARK - Level 4 - Dragon/Effect - 1900/1000

When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 "Kengensei" monster from your hand. Once per turn, you can target 1 "Kengensei" monster you control: this card's Level becomes the same as that card's Level until the End Phase.

Kengensei Magitek Siege Engine

DARK - Level 4 - Spellcaster/Effect - 1500/300

All face-up "Kengensei" monsters you control gain 300 ATK. Kengensei Reaper

DARK - Level 4 - Fiend/Effect - 1900/0

You can banish 1 "Kengensei" monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your hand. You can only Special Summon 1 "Kengensei Reaper" once per turn this way. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can target 1 card in your opponent's Graveyard; banish it.

Kengensei War Drummer

LIGHT - Level 4 - Spellcaster/Effect - 1700/400

While you control a face-up "Kengensei" monster, except "Kengensei War Drummer", you can Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Kengensei" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, and if you do; all "Kengensei" monsters you control gain ATK equal to their Level x100. Once per turn, if you control a face-up "Kengensei Emperor Dragon": You can make this card's Level become 8.

Kengensei Necromancer

DARK - Level 4 - Spellcaster/Effect - 1600/1800

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "Kengensei" monster from your Graveyard, except "Kengensei Necromancer". That monster's ATK and DEF become 0, also its effects are negated.

LIGHT - Level 4 - Dragon/Effect - 1500/0

If a "Kengensei" monster(s) you control is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon this card from your hand; Special Summon that monster that was just sent to the Graveyard (if more than 1 monster was sent, select 1 of those monsters). If this card is Special Summoned: Add 1 "Kengensei" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Kengensei Prince Dragon". This card cannot attack your opponent directly. If all monsters you control (min. 2) are "Kengensei" monsters, this card's Level becomes 8, its name becomes "Kengensei Emperor Dragon", and its original ATK is doubled.

LIGHT - Level 2 - Dragon/Effect - 750/1000

You can Tribute 1 "Kengensei" monster; Special Summon 1 "Kengensei" monster from your Deck in Defense Position whose ATK is double the Tributed monster's on the field. Once per turn, you can Fusion Summon using "Kengensei" monsters in your hand or on your field as Fusion Material. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, or detached from a "Kengensei" Xyz monster as Material: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Kengensei" monster from your Graveyard, and if you do; destroy 1 face-up monster on the field.

Kengensei Raptor

DARK - Level 1 - Dragon /Effect - 300/700

If a "Kengensei" monster you control with a Level battled an opponent's monster, after the Damage Step: You can target that monster; Special Summon this card with a Level equal to that target's, and if you do, immediately after this effect resolves, Xyz Summon 1 Xyz Monster using only this monster and that target. You cannot attack with monsters for the rest of the turn, except with that Xyz Monster. You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 "Kengensei Emperor Dragon" in your GY; Special Summon in Defense Position, but its effects are negated. You can only use 1 effect of this card's name per turn, and only once that turn.
