I find amusing how Gokipole is practically the opposite of Hero Blast: can be faster, Summons the Normal from the Deck instead of GY, and destroys anything bigger instead of a smaller monster.

Giant Ball Park reminds me of Catapult Zone, and it's a better version of it, too. Time for insects to get cool toys, huh.

The effect of the "C" robot looks so out of place. Is it a reference to a Sentai or Kamen Rider gimmick?

Well, doesn't have much to do with what "C" do, but it does support the Insect equipping gimmick, which I do wonder, why is that such a thing? What do insects have to do with equipping? I guess you can think of it like ticks, but that would make more sense to do something to the opponent. Well anyway, these are kind of neat, but I am sad that it's another Normal Monster gimmick for a specific type, like Dinosaurs were, while yeah, Normal Monsters are neat and all, I wish they focused that into an Archetype instead in some way, but whatever. The Field Spell is weird, but useful for what they want to do, Gokipole is fantastic, Robot can be powerful, and you can use it for a while, and with Gokipole having 1000 ATK and not caring where it is sent from, it becomes a great target for it.

Don't this and Catapult Zone do completely different things though? CZ prevents battle destruction but "you still take the damage". This prevents the damage, but the monster still dies.

...but that actually helps since a lot of other insect support rely on being destroyed by battle/leaving the field.

Resonance Insect just went up a level in usefulness. It now has a go-to monster to send and it can search Mecha C when it itself goes to grave.
Hello, fine peoples!

Oh hey, something notable I guess

This is absolutely incredible. I am completely in love. I've been wanting to build an Insect-Type Normal Monster deck, and these cards just enable that so incredibly easily.

Gokipole is pretty amazing. The only way it could be better is if it could search Level 4 or lower instead of just Level 4, and be LIGHT for Digital Bugs, but I'm not going to complain, it's still an "If sent to GY" Unexpected Dai + Raigeki Break for level 4 normal Insects.

Giant Ball Park is also amazing. It reminds me a lot of Heavy Metal Raiders: It's doesn't have a 'search on activation' or 'once per turn search' like a lot of good modern Field Spells do, but it's still strong enough to be a cornerstone of the deck's strategy. Plus the art is cute.

Black Iron "C" could be a decent high-Level insect for Parasite Paranoid and Resonance Insect. Being Level 8, along with Doom Dozer and Gadarla, might make Trade-In decent. While its very strong if you summon it by its own effect, my main complaint with it is that it doesn't do anything if you summon it a different way.

I'm so hyped!

Wait... Am I misreading, or does ball park prevent damage, then summon 3 gokibore/killer needle..?

Sentai C is pretty bad, considering Gokipole likes low atk. Gokibore and Killer needle are tied for lowest atk among insect normal monsters, at 1200.

Most of the time your opponent is going to be ending their turn on monsters with more than 2000 ATK, so it would probably worth going with the more ATK, unless they get more cards that focus on lower ATK.

And yeah the field spell does that. Personally I want to use it to swarm Basic Insects along with Tri-Wight.

gokipole is pretty nice. you'll likely be running 2 3-of normal bugs for variance, and while one is probably gonna be sentai shine, the other one could very well be either killer needle or insect knight. summoning either one pops anything higher than 19-2k, and gives you a 2k body in return, so it's not like you'll be in immediate danger from doing so. also, you can pull off some basic link shenanigans using beetron and gokipole, while possibly getting a search if, for whatever reason, you didn't already use a gokipole that turn. in fact, it's pretty decent support for the bee archetype in general.

the field spell, the art is godly, the effect though, that's it's own level of nice. assuming you crash a gokipole into your opponent's bigger monster, you can essentially search an insect knight, and mill a sentai shine, thus popping a monster that's 19+ off gokipole, and swarming the field with 3 sentai shine. it's not an overwhelming field, but if you'r opponent's running something like trickstars or sky strikers, 2k is strong enough to run over the majority of their monsters, and if there's one that happens to be higher than 2k, the gokipole pop will likely have taken care of it. leaving you 3 monsters, and, hopefully, potential to do some decent damage, alongside whatever link shennanigans that you may be capable of post battle phase. not the most powerful play ever, but definitely interesting. (i mean, it's still using normal monsters to do said things, so it's not likely to be very OP either way.)

considering the field spell gives you 3 monsters to grave imediately, and the general swarming support insects have (though older, they do have some pretty good cards for field swarming), i'd say black iron "C" has some pretty simple conditions (now if it said zombie...) the nuke effect on a 2800 body ensures that you'll be beating down practically everything your opponent has, one way or another. surprisingly, only the weakest monsters have a decent chance at surviving, but i suppose that was the intent from the start.

This seems a fair approximation of these cards-though I do know there might be a way to make use of the lower level Insects, like say, Fiend Scorpion or Basic Insect-Tri-Wight, something that can spam them back for more Link shenanigans. Yes I know, Worm Bait can do the same thing, but possibly better (considering Gokipole doesn't need to hit the field on your turn to work its magic). I may be spitballing here.

Really, the bigger boon to the "C" lineup is Resonance Insect, Tinker said it better than me, but now Resonance might be this Deck's best linchpin-it can be used as material for, like, Missus Radiant or Inzektor Picofarena, search you up Black Iron "C", have it come to the field and reequip Resonance (its effect triggers when sent from FIELD to GY, member) to search again. Might even be Doom Dozer, to open Insects to Rank-8 plays, if not necessarily Trade-In-you've already got Resonance and whatever else you made with Picofarena to Summon Doom. Makes Parasite Paranoid a lot more likely to bring out good targets, too.

Seriously tho, Gokipole opens so many avenues into styles of play the Insects can exploit, even if it never hits the field-Krawlers and Inzektors can basically run Picofarena at null cost, and possibly even work it in tandem with Black Iron should it be Summoned beyond its normal ways. I would contend vla1ne's statement that "(i mean, it's still using normal monsters to do said things, so it's not likely to be very OP either way.)"

Were it any other vanilla-lovin' Archetype, I'd agree wholeheartedly-well, besides Metalfoes but I digress, they're their own issue-but this Deck has some decent options in the otherwise released "C"s. Contact "C" can impede their Extra Deck plays, though its potential got a hefty hit with the Knightmares' release. Retaliating "C" turns the field into Macro Cosmos, destroying their resource game and can also help you search more Gokipoles should your opponent try to Link it away. And Confronting the "C" can help put down more bodies to-alright, I'm distracting from the main point, which is that the brother Archetype that "C"s have and the Field Spell can more caulk over the gaps of running the vanilla Normals with this build more so than other Normal Monster builds (besides World Chalice I guess)

Awesome set all around tho. Nice to see Insects coming into their own, and I think Gokipole will hit the same level as Block Dragon in terms of establishing the Type's identity.

UPDATE: oh my GoodFusion already talked about the Tri-Wight potential don't I look foolish. Well, basically, what he said and more!

tri wight was, as you stated, already mentioned, so i'd factored it into the link claim without saying as much, as for metalfoes, they're not exactly vanilla monsters while they have pendulum effects (and as an archetype, they've got a different kind of synergy from just plain insects)

as far as combining it with actual archetypes, yeah, i agree that it'd give them a boost, but i was going more off of the solo monster thing, aside from the bees, which popped into my head from killer needle.

I mean, if we want to use this with archetypes, the big guy can equip inzektors. So that's cute.

I just realised that there's an OTK with Gokipole and Giant Ball Park.

  • Activate the Field Spell, summon Gokipole, crash it into their only monster.
  • Field Spell effect, send "C" Ranger and summon it and 2 others in attack position.
  • Gokipole effect, summon Gokibore, destroy their monster.
  • Attack for 7200.
  • Overlay for Gagaga Cowboy and burn the remaining 800 away!

It relies on your opponent controlling only one monster (that can be destroyed by monster effects), but it's a 2 card combo so it's not difficult to do. Seems like a great start, if Insects get more support this set.
