Requires 2 monsters to burn. It's not as easy to do as with the Soldiers

Her FTKs are more "elaborated" due to the 2 monsters, but it might be just a matter of time beffore she became the catalyst of a new FTK, should ve been gone with the soldiers just to prevent anything similar to happen

I'm well aware, but she can substitute in many of the cannon soldier FTKs, and has the additional benefit of being searchable by M-X-Saber Invoker. I'm not saying it's directly equatable to cannon soldier, but just taking out soldier without hitting Archer is just going to change some FTKs, rather than getting rid of them.

Pretty sure the ABC ftk is dead dead regardless. Brandish playing Magical was annoying, and ABC FTK was toxic. But Hero ABC has been replacing the FTK recently anyway. It's a touch up list that I think solved most problems. I would have also slapped Start up outside of that a good list

We'll need to his MK2 as well then yes?

Genuinely curious how well TeleDAD holds up, because I imagine there are faster options nowadays. But I'm okay with the OCG loosening up on some of the cards. Obviously DAD is still Limited (Not that one), but anything else on the banlist that's holding that deck back?

I guess dimension Fusion is still banned and Scapegoat is at 2. Needlefiber just does so much to help the deck. Biggest problem you'll run into is you hit 40 cards and have like 10 more you want to run...that or LP

Between AHL and Solemns it gets ugly

22 Sky Striker
6 Gouki:

5 Malicious Gouki
1 HERO Gouki

3 ABC
2 Altergeist
1 Genex Atlantean Mermail
1 Greener Infernoid

Shiota (しおた) went 7-0-1 and finished 1st in “76th Aichi CS in NextPro Osu Shop with Hatti CS” (Team 3v3) which had 27 teams (81 participants).

With the limitation of Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, players are going back to the 3 Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero, 2 Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole build to ensure that they are able to open with Sky Striker Ace – Raye consistently.

As Sky Striker is currently the most popular deck, some players are choosing to run Shared Ride in the Main Deck, giving them an edge during the first duel of a mirror match.

OCG2018070_Gouki.jpg

T went 8-0 and finished 1st in “Super! Ryusei no Arashi Cup with Hatti CS” which had 62 participants.

Having Speedroid Terrortop back to 2 copies gave Gouki a boost in consistency. Speedroid Terrortop fetches for Speedroid Taketomborg and together they are used to Xyz Summon M-X-Saber Invoker, whose effect could then Special Summon Gouki Suprex.

Some players are also running 3 Magical Mid-Breaker Field in the Main Deck to stop the opponent’s Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Effect Veiler and Infinite Impermanence from disrupting the combo.

Sky Striker having a strong dominating lead in the dawn of the OCG 2018.07 format, is undeniably the current deck to beat.

Gouki follows in second place, but is trailing by a huge margin.

Happening on the 8 July 2018 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is the Asia Championship 2018, where the Champion and the Finalist will be representing Asia in the World Championship 2018. With no new product release between this period, we are expecting to experience a similar metagame in the Asia Championship 2018.

OCG2018071_SkyStriker.jpg

Okamoto Taishi “ヤケイ” finished 1 – 2nd in the West Japan WCQ 2018, and is 1 of the 6 Japan representative competing in the World Championship 2018 this year.

He went 7-1 and finished 1st in “9th Garosu CS with Hatti CS” (Team 2v2) which had 33 teams (66 participants).

Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster has been gaining popularity as a one-of in Sky Striker. It is useful for protecting Sky Striker Ace – Kagari from Effect Veiler, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion and Infinite Impermanence. In the mirror match, it also prevents the opponent from using Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and Mind Control to take control of your Sky Striker monsters.

This in turn makes Mind Control less desirable in the mirror match and we see players switching to playing Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell and White Howling in the Side Deck instead.

Due to Altergeist running Secret Village of the Spellcasters in the Main Deck, Sky Striker runs Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo in the Extra Deck. Clara & Rushka is a Spellcaster Link Monster and would allow the Sky Striker player to play Spell cards while under the effect of Secret Village.

Typhoon, Unending Nightmare and Heavy Storm Duster are also sided in to break Secret Village of the Spellcasters, Anti-Spell Fragrance or Imperial Order.

OCG2018071_Altergeist.jpg

Thro World (スローワ) went 7-1 and finished 1st in “8th Yu-ky CS” which had 57 participants.

Altergeist are now running 3 Secret Village of the Spellcasters, 3 Anti-Spell Fragrance and 1 Imperial Order in the Main Deck to beat Sky Striker.

More players are also running PSY-Framegear Gamma in the Side Deck against Knightmare Link decks such as Gouki, ABC and SPYRAL. PSY-Framegear Gamma is immune to Called by the Grave and Magical Mid-Breaker Field, and by negating and destroying a critical monster such as Summon Sorceress or Firewall Dragon would break the combo.

OCG201807-1.jpg

Sky Striker is the most popular and consistent top performer in the current competitive scene.

Altergeist has taken extreme measures, but still face an uphill battle against Sky Striker.

Gouki is having a hard time against PSY-Framegear Gamma and Different Dimension Ground.

OCG 2018.07 Metagame Report #2

This report will cover 22 top-performing decks from 4 tournaments that were held in Japan and Malaysia during 7 – 10 July 2018.

OCG2018072.jpg

10 Sky Striker

3 HERO Gouki

2 Greener HERO ABC

2 Altergeist

2 Magician:
1 Performapal Magician
1 Performapal Supreme King Magician

1 Chaos Dragon

1 Sky Striker Trickstar

1 SPYRAL

Kajihara Soichiro “フミオ”, 3rd in World Championship 2016, finished 2nd in “Hatti CS × Dragon Star Cup in in Dragon Star Kishiwada Haruki Shop” (Team 3v3) which had 40 teams (120 participants).

Pot of Desires has been gaining popularity among the Japanese players but remains a debatable inclusion to Sky Striker.

The key to using Pot of Desires is to play it only after pulling out at least 1 of each important key cards such as Sky Striker Ace – Raye, Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! and Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole, as well as powerful singulars such as Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones and Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon from the deck.

This ensures that the basic Sky Striker loop is still possible, then the card advantage from Pot of Desires would put you momentarily ahead of the opponent. This lead would create a snowball effect and eventually accumulate to a victory.

However, since Pot of Desires is generally a card that you only want to see in the mid-game onwards and not so much in the opening hand, most players prefer to run just 1 copy of it.

OCG2018072_SkyStriker.jpg

Zeratin (ゼラチン) went 6-2 and finished 2nd in “77th Aichi CS in NextPro Osu Shop with Hatti CS”.

HERO Gouki has been gaining popularity since the limitation of Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones.

A Hero Lives is used to Special Summon Elemental HERO Stratos, whose effect would add Vision HERO Vyon to hand. Vyon is then Normal Summoned and its Trigger Effect would send Destiny HERO – Malicious from deck to the graveyard. This basically starts off the whole Gouki combo as you can now go into Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights to bring out a Gouki and then leading into Summon Sorceress.

However, a Maxx “C” chained to A Hero Lives would often halt the whole combo, leaving the Gouki player vulnerable with only 4000 Life Points and a bare board.

Zeratin runs 1 copy of Mask Change II as an alternative play when his A Hero Lives is met with a Maxx “C”. Instead of Stratos, he would Special Summon Elemental HERO Shadow Mist which would get him Mask Change II. Then during the opponent’s turn, Mask Change II on Shadow Mist will bring out Masked HERO Dark Law.

Sky Striker’s only outs are Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners!. If Afterburners was added to hand by Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, then there is still a small chance that Dark Law’s Trigger Effect would banish it.

OCG2018072_HEROGouki.jpg

OCG201807-2.jpg

Both the Asia Championship 2018 and the South Korea WCQ 2018 saw Sky Striker being victorious.

From the 9 OCG players (6 Japan, 2 Asia, 1 Korea) that are participating in the World Championship 2018, 6 of them have qualified using Sky Striker. The remaining 2 qualified using Performapal Magician and Trickstar, and the last player is the 2017 World Champion.

OCG 2018.07 Metagame Report #3

This report will cover 53 top-performing decks from 9 tournaments that were held in Japan and China during 14 – 17 July 2018.

OCG2018073.jpg

16 Sky Striker

9 Altergeist

7 Thunder Dragon

5 ABC:
4 Mono ABC
1 Greener HERO ABC

5 Gouki:
3 HERO Gouki
2 Malicious Gouki

2 Greener Lair Infernoid

2 Trickstar:
1 Mono Trickstar
1 Sky Striker Trickstar

1 Cyber Dragon

1 Greener HERO Plant

1 Herald

1 Junk Doppel

1 Performapal Supreme King Magician

1 SPYRAL

1 Zefra

Sky Striker
Toki-kun (ときくん) finished 1st in “41st Adachi CS with Hatti CS” (Team 3v3).

The impact of Thunder Dragon can be seen in the deck building of Sky Striker as running 3 Infinite Impermanence in the Main Deck is now the standard build.

Superbolt Thunder Dragon is extremely effective against Sky Striker as it denies Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from being played. Only with 3 Infinite Impermanence along with 3 Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor does Sky Striker stand a chance in stopping Superbolt Thunder Dragon from locking them out.

Toki-kun took a pro-active approach in dealing with Thunder Dragon, by running the full 3 copies of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion in the Main Deck. Ghost Belle has already been proven to be relevant in the current metagame, being able negate Sky Striker Kagari, Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon against Sky Striker and negate Soul Charge, Monster Reborn, Firewall Dragon, Gouki Re-Match, A-Assault Core against Gouki and ABC.

Against Thunder Dragon, Ghost Belle can be used to negate the Special Summoning effect of Avian Thunder Dragon, and this would deny the 1 non-Fusion Thunder Effect Monster required to Special Summon Superbolt Thunder Dragon.

His pro-active approach is further illustrated in his choice to run 3 Dimensional Barrier to preemptively deny the opponent from performing any Special Summoning of Fusion Monsters.

OCG2018073_SkyStriker.jpg

Altergeist
Ryuppy (りゅっぴー) went 7-1 and finished 1st in “41st Adachi CS with Hatti CS” (Team 3v3).

Altergeist is largely unaffected by Superbolt Thunder Dragon as they do very minimal adding of cards from deck to hand.

Both Superbolt Thunder Dragon‘s and Thunder Dragon Lord‘s destruction substitute effect are useless against Altergeist Silquitous and Altergeist Meluseek.

The heavy Spell hate of Secret Village of the Spellcasters, Anti-Spell Fragrance and Imperial Order that were originally used against Sky Striker, are also relevant against Thunder Dragon by blocking out their Gold Sarcophagus play.

OCG2018073_Altergeist.jpg

Thunder Dragon
Zigen Yuuhei (次元幽閉) finished 1st in “23rd 193 Osu Shop CS” (Team 3v3) which had 14 teams (42 participants).

Superbolt Thunder Dragon has a very powerful effect that denies the opponent of adding cards from the deck to hand. This in particular affects Sky Striker significantly as their whole game plan revolves around Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!. Superbolt also hampers Gouki and ABC, but this requires Thunder Dragon going first to setup.

Both Superbolt Thunder Dragon and Thunder Dragon Lord come with destruction substitute effect, making them very difficult threats to answer. As such, Super Polymerisation and Forbidden Apocrypha are some popular Side Deck cards against Thunder Dragon.

OCG2018073_ThunderDragon.jpg

OCG201807-3.jpg

Thunder Dragon has a notable impact on the metagame right on its debut, especially by putting Sky Striker in check. This in turn opens up the opportunity for other decks to compete.

Dinowrestler Pankratops is a new card from Soul Fusion that has been gaining popularity in the Side Deck. A high ATK combined with a Quick Effect destruction ability makes it a very flexible and versatile removal.

In the current competitive scene, Pankratops is useful against Altergeist and their Secret Village of the Spellcasters. It can be Special Summoned to attack the Spellcaster monster, and if the attack fails, then its effect can be activated to destroy Secret Village.

Week #4 of the OCG 2018.07 format.

This report will cover 50 top-performing decks from 7 tournaments that were held in Japan and China during 21 – 24 July 2018

OCG2018074.jpg

19 Sky Striker
9 Altergeist

8 Thunder Dragon

5 HERO Gouki

2 ABC:
1 Mono ABC
1 Greener HERO ABC FTK

2 Greener HERO Infernity FTK

2 Thunder Dragon Trickstar

1 Plant FTK

1 SPYRAL

1 Wind-Up FTK

Sky Striker
Hase (ハセ) went 5-1-1 and finished 1 – 2nd in “9th Yu-ky CS” (Team 3v3) which had 35 teams (105 participants).

The changes that Sky Striker made to their builds by running 2-3 Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion and 3 Infinite Impermanence in the Main Deck has improved their match-up against Thunder Dragon. Some players are also choosing to run a second copy of Pot of Desires in the Main Deck. As Pot of Desires can be activated while Superbolt Thunder Dragon is on the field, it gives them a chance to draw into Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and Infinite Impermanence.

Artifact Lancea is another Side Deck card that had seen increased play this week. Its main purpose is to stop Gold Sarcophagus and thus deny Thunder Dragon of their basic core combo to setup Superbolt Thunder Dragon.

Other than Thunder Dragon, Artifact Lancea is also moderately useful against Gouki by preemptively preventing Destiny HERO – Malicious from activating its effect. Artifact Lancea has the advantage of being able to be activated while Magical Mid-Breaker Field is in play.

OCG2018074_SkyStriker.jpg

Altergeist
Berion (ベリオン) went 5-1 and finished 1 – 2nd in “9th Yu-ky CS” (Team 3v3) which had 35 teams (105 participants).

Running 3 Mind Control and 1 Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones in the Side Deck is a currently popular tech for Altergeist against Sky Striker.

When going second, Mind Control is used to take control of the opponent’s Sky Striker Link Monster, typically Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. It will then be used to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate, whose effect would then send Hornet Drones from the deck to the graveyard.

During the Main Phase 2, Hayate will be used to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari whose effect will then add Hornet Drones from the graveyard to hand. By using the Token Special Summoned from Hornet Drones and Kagari, they can be used to Link Summon Aleister the Meltdown Invoker.

Since Aleister is a Spellcaster monster, following up with Secret Village of the Spellcasters would lock the Sky Striker opponent from playing Spell cards.

OCG2018074_Altergeist.jpg

Thunder Dragon
Tera (テラ) went 7-1-1 and finished 1 – 2nd in “Hatti CS × Surugaya Cup in Surugaya Takatsuki Trading Card House” which had 52 participants.
Denko Sekka is gaining popularity in the Side Deck of Thunder Dragon to go against Sky Striker and Altergeist.

Denko Sekka being a Thunder monster has great synergy with Thunder Dragon. Not only can it be used to Special Summon Superbolt Thunder Dragon and Thunder Dragon Lord, it can also be searched by the 2nd effect of Thunder Dragon Fusion.

OCG2018074_ThunderDragon.jpg

Gouki
Shakeneru (しゃけねる) went 8-0-1 and finished 1 – 2nd in “Hatti CS × Surugaya Cup in Surugaya Takatsuki Trading Card House” which had 52 participants.
As Effect Veiler and Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit have fallen out of trend, Magical Mid-Breaker Field mainly stops Infinite Impermanence currently. It remains relevant when going second for stopping Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and Altergeist Silquitous.

OCG2018074_HEROGouki.jpg

OCG201807-4.jpg

The trend from Week #3 continues as we have Sky Striker, Altergeist and Thunder Dragon as the top 3 decks.

The power level between these decks are relatively marginal but Sky Striker has the consistency that outperforms the other decks.

4 of these FTKs use Amazoness Archer and the only one that uses Cannon Soldier Mk. 2 is ABC FTK. They're not super consistent, but either the last two non-OPT burn cards will join cannon solider and toon cannon solider or firewall will need to be touched

In the Cyber Dragon deck, what's the card betwen Denko and Boarder in the side Deck?

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Dinowrestler_Pankratops

It is a decently high attack monster that can special summon from hand, and then destroys itself to destroy a card your opponent controls. Can break extra link if they're not smart, or hidden valley of the spellcaster, imperial order, or ASF
