Working on new mechanic

I'm actually working on alternate templates for the game since I'm trying to create a new mechanic for the game.

 

Ideally, the templates will have the level/rank/stage value at the top right hand corner and HP on the left corner. Links are unaffected by this mechanic due to having no DEF value. Every other monster type can be redone to suit this mechanic.

 

The idea is this

If your monster has an HP value, it automatically switches to defense during your end phase. When it gets hit by another monster, it receives damage. If the amount of damage exceed the current HP value, you receive the remaining damage as backlash.

an interesting idea, but how do you plan on implementing this using this site's cardmaker?

 

Let's assume he's making the templates offline via GIMP, Photoshop or whatever; as I have seen members design templates for custom mechanics that do not involve our internal cardmaker (or the Neo New one) for their creation.

 

Mechanic seems fine, and probably more akin to stuff like Falsebound Kingdom, which has a similar style of play to what's being proposed here (well, ATK/DEF and HP and ability to guard/attack, etc).

That's kinda the idea. A while back, somebody suggested remaking all the cards with a HP stat. But looking back on that idea, I decided that a custom template for the cards would be in order. I also like the idea of ATK vs DEF. The only monsters that won't be any value to this format will be Link monsters since they have no DEF value. Aside from that, you would still be able to use Links in the format. The idea is that I plan on remaking the game and applying some new mechanics to it. I will also be introducing a new type of summon soon.
