[spoiler: Loop Hydra] EARTH - Level 1 - Reptile/Effect - 500 ATK/500 DEF

While this card is on the field, its Level is increased by 1 and ATK/DEF by 500 for every time you have Summoned "Loop Hydra" this Duel. If this card is sent to the GY: Return this card to the top or bottom of your Deck.

Itty bitty Hydra that comes back bigger and bigger every time. The reason the card is like Dog Marron is not only to keep recovering but also so you can't just keep using effects that would SS from GY. This is a personal preference so I'd rather keep this no matter what. I'd like to be able to build a Deck around, or at least have as a tech in Reptile Decks. I also have a Fusion similar to Five-Headed Dragon planned that can also be SSed by Tributing this card as a Level ~10 or higher, with some extra effects to add on to the card once it has fully evolved.

[spoiler: Proto-type Fusion]

Would love some comments. Also would like to know if the OCG/PSCT is correct as I was having trouble finding cards with similar text.

Sorry, just seems really bad. Reptiles struggle enough as is, and this bad boy is really hard to get out. Yu-Gi-Oh is a fast game, and the early game effort to get this card up to anything decent, especially with the control only 1 meaning you can only work at it once at a time. It's hard to search, and its placement on your Deck is more of a hindrance than anything else, with the bottom just meaning you won't be able to draw it for a while, and the latter interfering with your draws early game or being rendered moot by any searching you may be doing.

It's a really cool idea, don't get me wrong, but I can't see how you can make it good enough to be playable without being too strong.

Tbf making it a bit strong would be fine since its the kind of card that wants a Deck to gravitate towards it.

I think making the changes like taking off the "you can only control 1" and the altering of the Level and ATK/DEF outside of the field would make it a lot better, or would that not fix it?

I think it needs more text. Some benefit with extra ATK/DEF; perhaps leave in the Level addition, and have it gain a different effect for each Level it has, probably protection. Even then, it would be incredibly inconsistent to repeatedly use, so I don't know.

To be fair, only card that really has this type of precedent of being stronger every time it's summoned is Orichalcos Gigas from the anime. Any chance you took cues from that while making this, or coincidental?

But in practice, it's just not cutting it for actual play given your Deck has to work around it (as far as Reptiles go, I think they'd rather devote towards other bosses that aren't as demanding on your resources or cut you off from them thereof).

If you choose to place it at the top of your Deck, it's roughly the same as skipping your Draw Phase (since you technically aren't getting a new card). Dova already said this above in detail, so yeah.

If you have its Level and stat changes apply while on the field and not off, then it wouldn't be as terrible. As far as the game would be concerned, it's still a Level 1 with 500 ATK/DEF. If you don't mind sacrificing your other draws and stuff for it, sure, just let you get it back the same way next turn.

For the "only 1" clause, you can remove it and keep the other stuff so you have a backup in case things go wrong.

Neither one would really make it competitive-tier though, and even if you were to apply the Level protection thing Dova just mentioned above, it still takes away resources you could be using for other monsters with a lower upkeep cost. Then again, you would have to keep track of how many times you summon and in a faster game, you might forget.

Edited the card as I said on the comment previously, and added an example for a supposed Fusion. Now you can control as many as you want and its LV/ATK/DEF changes are only while on field so you don't have to Tribute monsters to NS it.

I'm adding some more support. I'm thinking of making a smaller teen-esc Fusion with less protection. I think just having Fusions that can Tribute a Loop Hydra to SS themselves would be better for lore and for practicality on effects. Maybe this could be an evolved version of the LV format.

NOPE. I think someone else told me that though

Draw Phase thing is fair, but if I just said "add to your hand" it would be broken. Also, it was originally Dog Marron style, so I think its better.

D20s are good to keep track.

The other things I didn't list from your comment here I think I addressed.

ALSO, I'm thinking of making several Fusions that can Tribute Loop Hydra at varying Levels to Summon them. I was thinking of it as something like an upgraded vs of the LV mechanic, and if I treat them all as Loop Hydra on field and GY it could make the card a lot more interesting.
