Harpie's Dragon Tether
[Equip Spell]

Equip only to "Harpie Lady". Activate this card by Special Summoning 1 "Harpie's Pet" monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, then the Summoned monster gains ATK equal to the original ATK of the equipped monster. While you control a Dragon monster, your opponent cannot target the equipped monster by card effects. You can only activate 1 "Harpie's Dragon Tether" per turn.

Card is generally fine for the most part, and guess gives you a reason to actually run OG Pet Dragon for the added protection since otherwise it doesn't offer much. Link format, you can revive Phantasmal and sort of get back its protection effect in some capacity. I really doubt you'd run Baby Dragon now because it doesn't offer much in return. Then again, said monster does end up with 1300-1800 more ATK (taking into consideration the name changing thing).

I guess summon this for beatsticking purposes, but as I'm not a Harpie player, I can't say if they really want this card for their plays or it's a casual-type thing for those who really want to run the Level 7. IIRC original Pet Dragon doesn't have support cards to bring it out faster without the 2 Tributes, so...guess this helps.

In order to make it more viable in link format I have two suggestions

(1) Allow the monster equipped to be special summoned

(2) Make it once per turn, so you can equip multiple monsters over a number of turns

I am a bit confused about the suggestions, but I will attempt to understand by making a card effect supposedly similar to what you are suggesting to see if we are on the same page...

** [Equip Spell]

Activate this card by Special Summoning 1 "Harpie" Winged Beast monster from your hand, and  1 "Harpie's Pet" monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, and then equip this card to "Harpie" Winged Beast monster. While you control a Dragon monster, your opponent cannot target the equipped monster by card effects. You can only activate 1 "Harpie's Dragon Tether" per turn.

So that is the first suggestion... But, I am kind of lost how I would approach the 2nd suggestion in tandem with this one. Do you mean like give it a once per turn effect where you Summon 1 "Harpie's Pet" monster separate from the Summoning of the Harpie Lady?

Equip only to "Harpie Lady". Once Per Turn: Special Summoning 1 "Harpie's Pet" monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, then the Summoned monster gains ATK equal to the original ATK of the equipped monster. While you control a Dragon monster, your opponent cannot target the equipped monster by card effects. You can only activate 1 "Harpie's Dragon Tether" per turn.

This would let Harpies consistently get an extra monster out each turn, something they badly need in the link era
