Sigiswald, the Dominating Flame

Recommended Posts

I feel like there's no generic Link 4 that's actually a threat. So I wanted to make a Link 4 equivalent to Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon. Or, like, Red-Eyes Flare Metal. Generally just powerful boss monsters to slap on your board and force your opponent to answer. Decided not to go with omni-negation because that's boring.

2+ Link Monsters

Unafected by other card effects that do not target it. If this card battles a Special Summoned monster, you can destroy that monster without applying damage calculation. If this card is sent to your GY due to your opponent’s card (By battle or card effect): Send any number of face-up cards you control to your GY and target the same number of cards as cards sent this way; Destroy those targets.

I thought it wasn't that good a first, and was quick to compare it with Borreload, but I can see what this card is good at: breaking boards. You drop it, and if your opponent dares to remove it, it may very well lose its board depending on how many face-up cards you got to spare. That, it it will simply pick on its Special Summoned powerhouses. IDK if it was intentional but this card's last effect triggering even if its Summon is negated is such a nasty good perk to have.

I like the typing, too. There aren't many FIRE/Spellcasters around, IIRC.

Text fix:

Unaffected by card effects that do not target it. At the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles a Special Summoned monster: Destroy that monster. If this card is sent to your GY by your opponent’s card (by battle or card effect): Send any number of face-up cards you control to your GY, then target cards on the field equal to the number of cards sent to your GY this way; destroy those targets.

I think you can word it like "This card is unaffected by card effects, except targeting effects." This is more the Desperado Barrel Dragon wording for Coin Flipping effects, and is a bit different since targeting effects that don't target this card but do stuff to other things will still affect this card, but if you don't want that to happen you could also do "This card is unaffected by card effects, except targeting effects that target this card." Although seeing as I'm completely bsing this as an improvised clause, I might be wrong. Other than this I think Darj is spot on for the PSCT.

ATK is a bit low, but then it can kill anything SSed, so that's just about anything these days that has more than 2500 ATK so its pretty spectacular. I might make this only so it does this when it attacks a monster rather than battle a monster to make it a bit easier to interact with and to make the last effect more relevant.

Personally, I think the card is a bit too "fair". Usually that isn't a problem, but rather than the sent to GY clause, I would rather it be "When this card leaves the field:" since your opponent would have to play around it by destroying your other cards so they don't have to worry as much, rather than be annoyed by the fact that they don't have anything to bounce it. Could improve the overall interest in the kind of gameplay it could create.

Cool card. Thank god for no omni-negation.
