Thar Posted July 4, 2018 Report Share Posted July 4, 2018 They're both fantastic. Sugar Song to Bitter Step is really fun and catchy and the dancing gives it a lot of charm. Magia, on the other hand, has a very unique and abstract style with a very serious, if not contextual, tone. I will say, while I really enjoy a fun song with fun animated moments, Kalafina really did PMMM's 2nd ED justice and it's almost poetic describing the duality of the responsibilities of being a magic girl. Sugar Song and Bitter Step is a fun, catchy song with fun, catchy visuals, but that's as far as it goes and I'm personally more attached to Blood Blockade Battlefront's OP. Magia (much like PMMM as a whole) has a haunting beauty about it despite the relatively simple sequence. I love both UNISON SQUARE GARDEN and Kalafina's music a lot, but I've been especially attached to Kalafina's music as of late what with the recent departures of Kajiura Yuki and Kubota Keiko from the group, fearing for them fully disbanding like the initial rumors from a few months ago.
