That Iffy Motion

Recommended Posts

It's a real IFFY card, you get to plus one but your opponent can search for lots of good spells or traps they might have not been able to tutor in the first place. This card also pops backrow as well. The question is can you out resource and out maneuver the opponent after this spell has resolve.

Pros:

pops 1 backrow

You actually plus 1 off of it

Cons:

opponent replaces 1 backrow with something that can be a better backrow card

That Iffy Motion: Quick-Spell

Destroy 1 Spell card or Trap card your opponent controls then, your opponent can add 1 Normal Spell card or Normal Trap card to their hand. Draw 2 cards.

Tell me what you think?

Far too strong. Even if you removed the destroying Spell/Trap, the card would still give you an immediate +1, and granting your opponent only a S/T card that they can't use until their turn is done. Immediate advantage is far more powerful in game where you can combo so easily. In fact, one might argue that the destruction weakens it, preventing you from doing anything with it if you go first. Still, going second, or flipping this during your opponent's End Phase (assuming you Set it, which you probably don't) and for all intents and purposes, this becomes a better version of Desires.

There is the slight potential that your opponent has exactly the Normal Spell/Trap to counter your Extra Link/Major boss, but considering you're always using your advantage going second and destroying their advantage on their field, they'd have to choose between making plays and dealing with your field...provided they don't overlap, of course.

it's actually pretty garbage considering normal spells are some of the best cards in the game. it's a slow +1 that only works going second when there are way better +1 options like Desires and Engage.

going first the card is an actual do nothing. you can set it but then it just gets removed, or if you chain it, just gives your opponent access to Engage, Afterburner, Desires, RotA, etc.

I wouldn't play this card, personally. As Toyo points out, this is dead on a starting turn, and I wouldn't take the risk of letting the opponent grab a Spell/Trap that can offset the +1 I get, or even more. Toyo also mentioned good Normal Spell picks, but I would also add good old Raigeki and Evenly Matched to the list.
