Okay folks, so this time I decided to make something more of the Gradius lineup today-because really, it was the prototypical idea of Glad Beasts made rather poorly. They've got similar ATK, very usable effects that just need to be activated on far easier triggers, and an amazingly simple way to maintain advantage that can actually pay bigger dividends in Master Rule 4.


 


So I start off with giving each of the other iconic ships (Lord British, FalchionB and Jade Knight) their own Laser Equip Spells, then move on to making it easier for each of them to come forth.


 


And then came this.

Metalion Space Fighter N322


LIGHT/Machine-Type Effect Monster/Level 9/1200 ATK/800 DEF


 


Lore:  This card's name becomes "Gradius" while in the hand or GY. If this card is Summoned from the hand, or destroys a monster by battle: Activate 1 of these effects.


• Special Summon 2 LIGHT Machine monsters with 1000 ATK or 800 DEF to the field (1 on each side).

• Special Summon 1 Level 6 DARK monster to your opponent's field, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Extra Token" (Machine/LIGHT/Level 4) with the same ATK/DEF as the Summoned monster.

Lore: When you Summon a LIGHT Machine monster whose original DEF is either 800 or 1000: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn: You can Normal Summon 1 LIGHT Machine monster with 1000 or 800 DEF, or 1 "Jade Knight", as an additional Normal Summon, and if you do, apply 1 effect of that Summoned monster that activates when it destroys an opponent's monster by battle (if any), then your opponent gains control of this card. If this card is destroyed by battle against a Level 4 LIGHT Machine monster and sent to the GY: You can Special Summon this card.

Normal Spell Card


 


Lore: Apply these effects and resolve in sequence, depending on the number of different names among the Level 4 LIGHT Machine monsters you control. 


• 1+: All Level 4 monsters you control will be unaffected by your opponent's monster or Trap effects, until the end of the next turn. 

• 2+: Set 1 "Laser" Spell from your Deck. 

• 3+: Add 1 LIGHT Machine monster or 1 "Laser" Spell from your Deck or GY to your hand. 

• 4+: Draw 1 card, then your opponent discards 1 random card.

 


 


Stage Succession


Quick-Play Spell Card


 


Lore: Destroy 1 Level 5 or higher monster and/or 1 Level 4 LIGHT Machine monster in your possession that is either on the field or in your hand, and if you do, draw 1 card for each monster you destroyed, plus 1 more card if you sent 2 cards you control to the GY with this effect. You can banish this card from your GY: Set 1 "Time Tunnel" and 1 other Field Spell to the field (1 on each side). You can only use 1 "Stage Succession" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

Laser-Focused Spread Bomb


Equip Spell Card


 


Lore: Equip only to a Level 4 LIGHT Machine monster, by changing it from Attack Position to Defense Position. It can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each, while in Defense Position. If it does, apply its ATK for damage calculation. Your opponent cannot target this card or the equipped monster with monster effects. When you control no Effect Monsters: You can; Special Summon 1 "Jade Knight" from your hand or Deck and equip it with this card from the GY. You can only use this effect of "Laser-Focused Spread Bomb" once per Duel.


 


Rolling Laser-Guided Missile


Equip Spell Card


 


Lore: Activate this card by targeting 1 LIGHT Machine monster with 800 or 1000 DEF in your GY; Special Summon it and equip it with this card. When a Spell Card or effect that was activated on your opponent's of the field resolves, while this card is equipped to "FalchionB", negate the activation, then shuffle this card and 1 other card on the field into the Deck. You can only activate 1 "Rolling Laser-Guided Missile" per turn.

Equip Spell Card


 


Lore: Equip this card to 1 Level 4 LIGHT Machine monster you control. It gains 1000 ATK during the Battle Phase only. While this card is equipped to "Lord British Space Fighter" and you control no other "Disruptor Laser", the equipped monster gains this effect. 


• Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Effect Monster on the field; it has its effects on the field negated during Main Phase 1 and Battle Phases of this turn only, also destroy this card during the End Phase if those monsters did not battle this turn.

 


 


Time Tunnel


Field Spell Card


 


Lore: When this card is activated: You can add from your Deck or GY o your hand, 1 LIGHT Machine monster with 800 DEF, or 1 "Gradius" card. Once per turn, if you control no monsters: You can Special Summon 1 "Gradius" from your hand or GY, and if you do, it gains 800 ATK. You cannot Special Summon monsters with 2000 or more ATK to your field. While you control 4 or more Level 4 LIGHT Machine monsters, this effect is applied to your opponent instead.

Glory of Gradius


Continuous Trap Card


 


Lore: Once per turn, during the Battle Phase: You can pay 600 LP, then target 1 LIGHT Machine monster you control with 1200 or less original ATK; this turn, it gains 1200 ATK, also any opponent's monster that battles it this turn has its effects negated until the end of the Damage Step. Once per turn, if a Level 6 or higher monster(s) on the field would be destroyed by battle, or remove a counter(s) from itself by its effect, you can make those monsters lose 600 ATK instead. You can only control 1 "Glory of Gradius".


 


 


Gradius's Gaiden


Counter Trap Card


 


Lore: When the effect of a monster with more ATK than the ATK of a Level 4 LIGHT Machine monster you control is activated: Negate that activation, and if you do, that monster has its effects negated if it is on the field, and if it does, its ATK becomes 800. You can activate this card the same turn it was Set by banishing 1 "Gradius" card from your GY, except "Gradius' Gaiden". You can only activate 1 "Gradius' Gaiden" per turn.
