Rigged Animatronics
[Continuous Trap]

Set 1 Continuous Trap that specifically list "Special Summon this card" in it card text directly from the Deck. It can be activated this turn. If a Trap(s) in your Main Monster Zones would be destroyed by battle or by card effect, you can banish this card in your GY instead.

Well, there's the Tiki cards, Apophis, Quantum Cat, Swamp Mirrorer, Metal Reflect Slime, and The First Monarch just to name a handful. I think it's rather harmless. Yes, you could Summon them as monsters, but it's not fast enough to become an issue. And I think some players prefer Traps thar can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard like Paleozoic. So I think it's fine balance-wise. And that destruction protection is a nice touch, too. As they are prone to more destruction than regular monsters.

To be fair to players who wanted Trap Monsters to get support, this kinda helps them out for the most part (RIP some of the other Trap monsters that are Normals). I would say to expand it to all Trap Cards that say "SS this card", but then you got Paleozoics (however I do doubt they'll have room for this otherwise) and I guess the PK backrow to an extent. Other effect is fine for the most part, well, considering backrow removal does still exist and the usual risks of Trap Monsters being both at once (most of the time).

It's fine for what it does.

Thing is Paleozoic just recently got a great addition to their piece: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Traptrick . It may not look ideal, but believe me it is strong (use all necessary Paleozoics and then use Traptrick to get out Waboku/ Threatening Roar/ Aegis of the Ocean Dragon Lord to save all your Paleozoics to set- up for Opabinia and so forth) . Otherwise, I'd totally advocate for it. From understanding Continuous Traps Monsters compared to Paleozoic now: I just wonder when the former is actually going to get some form of attention that doesn't make them get outshined by the latter completely.

As for Phantom Knights... They can search any of their odd ends on their own a lot of times. So I am fine with them missing out on this.

Fair enough, I suppose.

As an answer to how Continuous Trap monsters aren't gonna get outshone, I suppose one thing they could do is try not to make them Trap Cards at the same time so you can at least use the S/T zone for other stuff. But unless Konami ever gets a change of heart, I doubt it'll go that way for the old Trap Monsters and most we'll ever see of them is Paleozoic / Burgesstoma or that other stuff.

(That is an issue with design at times; you want to make something that'll help older Decks, but at the same time, doing so also gives an unneeded buff to stuff that doesn't deserve the help. It sucks, but what can you do? But then again, Casual is/was intended for you to design stuff without having to worry if something gets broken or not.)
