My attempt at a banlist

Recommended Posts

I'm not really bothered about cleaning the list up or bringing back stuff that's banned because what difference does it make in the grand scheme of things, but I do have plenty of hipster picks

Banned:

Knightmare Goblin

Sky Striker Ace - Shizuku

M-X-Saber Invoker

Scapegoat

Limited:

Trickstar Candina

Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights

Rivalry of Warlords

Unlimited:

El-Shaddoll Construct

Nekroz of Unicore

Book of Moon

I missed a bunch more things that could obviously rise but I don't really care about those, the only rises I put here are ones that I believe in and aren't immediately obvious.

Goblin: Generically accessible normal summons will always be a problem, whether it be Gouki or SPYRALs or whatever the funk else.

Shizuku: The Sky Striker engine is fine, the deck itself is not - I'm cool with people still being able to go Drones Kagari Drones for extra link materials or whatever but the deck itself needs some sort of hit, I don't think getting rid of Shizuku makes the deck completely worthless so I think it kills two birds with one stone.

Invoker: This has always been a broken card which enables really long complicated combos but it's especially true with Gouki since all you need is 2 3's and you're good to go. It wasn't really until the penny dropped with Invoker that Gouki really started dominating, and nowadays people are playing Speedroids and Marauding Captain and even funking Gilasaurus just to access it.

Scapegoat: Everyone's kinda forgotten about it with Trickstar Sky Striker being slightly less popular but it's still basically a 1 card win button and that's not fair. I don't care for the argument "oh but it allows worse decks to compete", if your deck relies on a sacky unsearchable win button to compete don't play the deck.

Candina: Trickstars should be hit. This is the most efficient way to do so. I'm not prepared to extend them the same sort of leeway as Sky Strikers, the deck is fundamentally annoying and problematic.

Isolde: Card's really good, Gouki or no Gouki. If it doesn't get hit now it will eventually.

Why limit Rivalry of the Warlords and not Gozen Match as well? In fact, why limit either of them?

Indirect Altergeist hit, really. Gozen should eventually move down too, both cards are obnoxious floodgates that tell your opponent they can't play the game.

Why not unlimit apoqliphort towers and demi-limit scout. Let us qliphort players have some fun.

Qliphort players will never have fun. There is nothing less fun than playing Qliphort. Either way, Towers falls into the "cards that can easily move up but I don't care enough" category, and Scout idk about, I'd prefer to keep it at one.

If a deck is forgotten about why are we hitting it. TCG and it's god forsaken players should abandon the belief that if a deck is played it should be hit. Trickstars dont need any hits at all. It's okay if a deck is played over x amount of formats. That's actually a good thing. Sky Strikers the deck and engine are actually fine in the TCG until we get access to Needlefiber. The deck doesn't pump out a lot of damage which is an issue with the new EoM procedures. The engine is better than the deck is atm. Scapegoat isnt a 1 card win and it's actually a super balanced card. You have to wait a turn to go off. Every other deck looks at hand and goes off. If you're going second it's can be quite shitty to see. You hit a 1 card Link engine that is slow as funk but you keep literally every other 1 card link engine untouched. The only hit was goblin which is also a big ???. Scapegoat is a slower Hornet Drones + Kagari or Skyblaster at this point.
