Mr. Tough and Cassidy didn't seem to be completely comfortable with each other despite having worked together on the exam. Thankfully neither seemed to want to really fight and both were a bit distracted at Axew's display at the game stand. The fish gave him some encouragement, stating he just needed to be sure things were fire proofed next time. Just think a little bit before acting. Where had he heard that before? Oh right, most of his life from every adult around him. He was feeling pretty okay with just that but then she went on to scold the poor Starmie about how he should have been thinking about the amount of fire-types that would be coming through town. Axew didn't think the girl had to go that far but she seemed to really be looking out for him. That much was nice. He'd been hesitant coming here but with people like Cassidy and Mr. Tough he was a lot more excited about his time to come.

"You don't know about berries Mr. Tough?" he questioned his friend as the bear approached with what was left of the prize. Axew himself didn't know what all the different berries did by heart. He knew most of their names and that they did a lot of things and that some were really tasty but he didn't have it straight what all of their effects were. Cassidy really knew her stuff though. His attention shifted to his prize. As it happened he hadn't burned away a whole lot of it. It happened to be a rock of sorts. Almost in the shape of a crown. Though parts had clearly broken off. If the heat hadn't started messing it up, the impact with the ground must have done it in. Still it was intact enough for the boy to know what it was.

"I think it's a King's Rock" he said after letting out a long soft hmm. "Dunno how much help it'll be all cracked, chipped and scorched as it is but normally you hold onto these things and your moves have a better chance at making your opponent flinch. Someone I knew back in Glass Lake Town liked to wear 'em just for the crown shape but always liked having whatever battle advantage he could get."

The town's festivities had lasted long into the evening but eventually the noise died down and the party weary city had settled into sleep. A new day was upon the Pokemon and many visitors from outside of Thicket Town would be departing throughout the day. Many had unsuccessful bids to enter the Helio guild and were understandably disappointed. Others had come merely for the spectacle and entertainment and had thus gotten what they bargained for. As soon as the sun was up, or at least as best as anyone could tell given the cloud cover, travelers began trickling out of the several gates to the town. Several members of the guild had sprung into action to clean up the mess left over from the day prior's events before the town on the whole stirred.

For ten particular Pokemon, today was not to be a day to sleep in and recover from the wild night. Today was the beginning of their training at the Helio Guild, and they were expected to meet in front of the base first thing in the morning. Upon arriving the new recruits would see two of the senior staff waiting outside the main entrance to greet them. Noivern, the bat-like dragonn, and Mudsdale the large horse were standing and staring off at the road to the guild, awaiting the crew to assemble. If they arrived early they would be met with an excited Mudsdale and an expression resembling happiness on Noivern's face. Arriving exactly on time would bring the same excitement from the horse but the usual relaxed stern look on the bat's part. Those who arrived late however were a different story. On Mudsdale they would find nothing but concern and for good reason. For with each passing moment between the requested meeting time and the latecomer's arrival Noivern's irritation was exponentially rising. Any late pokemon would receive a good yelling to move it as they appeared on the horizon. However long it took, Noivern wasn't going to repeat herself so their business would not begin until all ten recruits were present.

"Welcome, everyone. As of this moment you are all official members of the Helio Guild and will begin your world class explorer training." Noivern began, Mudsdale doing her best to not go hug the cute batch of new kids. "Before we begin I must speak to a select few of you. Some among you, were not admitted on your own merit." she continued, glaring at Axew and a few of the others. "Heliolisk is currently investing all his efforts to understanding the problems with the environment and the rising rate of pokemon claiming to have once been human. The fact the nine of you who took the test were selected is in large part due to your having been human. All of you must know this: though Heliolisk wants as many former humans around him as possible we still have a reputation to maintain. If any of you show you are unfit to be here, I will not hesitate to remove you from the guild. Are we clear?" she questioned, not really looking for an answer more than simple apprehensive nods of agreement as her gaze seemed to pierce through the souls of each pokemon before her. "Very well then. Mudsdale will now show you about the guild and show you to your rooms. I wish you all luck in the days to come." she concluded. Her tone softened a bit with her departing words and without much delay she beat her mighty wings and took off into the sky, heading toward the other side of town. This left the newcomers with a very excited Mudsdale who on the spot ran up to and excitedly nuzzled each and every pokemon before her.

"Oh you're all so cute!" she cried with a neigh mixed into her excitement. "Come in! Come in! There's so much to see!" she said smiling from ear to ear. She trotted right through the doors of the guild. The guards had yet to arrive at their posts due to just how early this meeting had been expected to happen. "This is the ground floor. It's open to the public so long as they have business here." she began as she motioned to some boards plastered with notices. "Over there are the job and outlaw boards. The others will show you more on that when we're done but whenever you wanna do some exploring you should always hit those up and handle a job or two." she said and let the group take the room in. There seemed to be several stands about the walls that were currently unmanned. Guild members would offer certain services there during the day. They approached a set of stairs to see the higher levels but Mudsdale stopped before they did and motioned to the stairs leading down.

"Now then kids if you'll look here, those are the stairs to the basement. The thing you should always remember about the basement is never go into the basement without someone's permission or I'll have to kill you." she nearly yelled with a very dramatic shift from her happy demeanor. Her bubbly self came right back afterward however. "It's just storage and stuff and I'm in charge of all the boring things down there so just don't go messing around with anything!" All along the way she would always let questions be asked and provide whatever answers she had. The tour took them to the second floor with two large rooms.

"Here's floor two! Super important rooms. This one's the meeting hall. Report here every morning when you wake up for the Guild Master's instructions for the day. And over here is the Mess Hall which is where you'll get served dinner every night. Don't miss dinner, Buizel doesn't usually cook for their to be leftovers and doesn't like serving make-up meals." she commented in passing as they continued to the third floor. She stopped before continuing into the main hallway of the floor.

"Just so you know, the fourth floor up above is the guild staff offices, particularly Heliolisk and Noivern. So don't go bothering them up there unless they've asked for you. Third floor's usually as high as you'll go. Because this is where all your rooms will be. At the end the very end of this left hall way there will be five open rooms. There's room for two in each and we don't particularly care who you decide to room with." she said and let them all investigate what the living conditions were like before escorting them all back to the main floor.

"Oh I hate to have the tour be over but you've seen everything and I've got duties to attend to. You've got a little bit of time before our morning assembly so please go pick out your rooms and move whatever things you may have brought with you in. Blitzle and Tyrunt will be looking out for your all after our meeting's convened. Oh I'm so happy to have you all here!" she neighed again and nearly repeated her greeting process before going and disappearing into the basement of the guild.

This left a likely tired and confused group of young pokemon behind in the guild base that was slowly populating itself as the morning went on. Despite Noivern's initial lectures at his having arrived slightly late, Axew was very excited now that he was actually here and had seen the place. It wasn't exactly as glamorous as he'd imagined but then Heliolisk didn't seem to have the same taste for luxury that Haxorus did.

"I'll race ya upstairs Mr. Tough!" he called out excited as he readied himself to take off running to one of the open rooms. Definitely still a kid. The soon to be greatest explorer ever started off his triumphant conquest of the guild by tripping over himself in his excitement and then brushing himself off with a laugh.

[spoiler=OOC]
Right so a bit more interaction time but with a different setting and opportunities here. There's some time to kill before the morning meeting after which Tyrunt and Blitzle will get some real training going like combat and dungeon exploring stuff. So some things to do:

-get a room
-get a roommate (doing duos here, anyone who doesn't specify a room/roommate is getting randomly filled in by me so there's that)
-talk with roomy in said room
-explore the guild a bit more and bump into any of its members (can hit me up for deets on who'd be where)
-head to the assembly hall early to wait for the meeting where some others have gathered
-whatever other appropriate memes you can cook up

So however you go about it I need ya posting something. I'll post again in a week to start the morning meeting. Time's fake remember so we can always do a lil multitasking like this post of continuing a conversation from earlier and reacting to new things. Lemme know if you got comments/questions/concerns or what have you. Sorry this took so long, lot of this wait has been on me.

Also as per Noivern's initial warning. Some of y'all aint done a ton so far and I might have to end up kicking peeps if it stays that way getting into more dicey situations. Just a heads up.

Cassidy wanted to smack this Tuff guy. Just punch him right in his stupid face....but she had no fists, nor arms, so she had to settle for sparking angrily at him when he got in her face.

Thankfully for everyone it didn't escalate as Axew took most of the attention away.

When said Axew explained what the item was Cassidy had a vague notion what he was talking about. Didn't it have another effect? She was never very good with Held Items.

....Why was that term so familiar to her?

"Might come in handy." Cassidy said. "I don't need anything like that though, cause I plan on taking out any bad guys with one hit!"

Cassidy woke up early. She wasn't sure why but she had noticed that she always tended to wake up early and immediately be able to get going. She didn't know what it was like before this but it seemed that whatever she used to do it had her getting out of bed before most other people.

Her small and simple body certainly came in handy at times like this. She was able to get up and get going without any interruptions to speak of.

All this combined to have her arrive earlier than most others in front of....them. She wasn't too pleased seeing the large adult Pokemon, despite how pleased they seemed to be to see her, and she merely gave them a passing good morning when they greeted her.

Her opinion on Noivern dropped more as the woman essentially mocked Axew, and others, with the beginning of her speech. Bristling with annoyance, small sparks coming off her body, Cassidy responded instead of simply nodding in confirmation when the woman asked if they were clear. "Maybe you should wait until we've done something before threatening us. I thought you were a veteran leader not just some bully."

---

Afterwards the Mudsdale, "I am NOT cute...", gave them a tour of the area. It was...large. Granted this could be in part due to Cassidy's small size but it felt she was floating around for hours. Getting worn out without having limbs to wear out was a new experience. While she did indeed float through the air she had to be constantly wriggling her body in small motions to keep going. Without rest this could easily cause her body, despite not having conventional muscles, to become sore and uncomfortably tingly.

The Mudsdale seemed willing to answer questions but, still feeling grumpy about the other one, Cassidy didn't feel too much like talking to her.

The basement thing made her curious, and sparked a bit of an adventurous urge in her. She'd have to check that out sometime...Especially if she was being told, by an adult, to stay out of it.

"so please go pick out your rooms and move whatever things you may have brought with you in."

....Were they supposed to have things? Cassidy didn't have things. Where would she have gotten these things?...She had always just grabbed up what she needed for the moment. Having no arms to carry things made it rather impractical to keep stuff around even if she wasn't moving around all the time anyway.

Maybe she'd get some things now that she'd have a room.

That being said, Cassidy merely went up to the first room she saw and hovered in front of it. "This one's mine." She declared to the others.

Now....a roommate. She looked around at the group and felt somewhat downtrodden. The only ones she knew...yeah, she didn't feel comfortable getting a room with them. And she felt Axew probably had his mind set on that bear.

She then noticed a small, young, lizard-like Pokemon. She seemed to be somewhat reluctant to be there, perhaps the shy type, and also appeared to be quite young.

And so there it was.

Cassidy floated over towards the Salandit and booped them lightly to get their attention. "Hey...need a roommate?" She asked softly.

Karliah yawned and stretched, not a very restful sleep but it had to do. Hopefully the beds were a lot more comfortable than this. She took the one oran berry she had left from the festival last night and ate it. Not much of a breakfast, but again, it had to do. She made sure everything was in order before making her way towards the guild.

She was early, not the earliest though, that reward went to the little Tynamo floating in front of the guild leaders. Karliah just sat away from everyone else as they arrived and looked towards Noivern as she gave a small introduction speech.

Are we clear?"

Karliah just gave a small nod. Great... She could just feel Noivern singling her out. Was this about how she barely did anything during the jumping event? Or did Noivern catch her stealing but just didn't say anything? If the latter was the case, then she was probably waiting for this moment to apprehend her as a thief.

Karliah stepped back a bit, maybe joining this guild wasn't such a good thing. She only calmed down a bit after Noivern left, leaving behind a very bubbly and enthusiastic Mudsdale. She didn't even acknowledge the fact that she was called cute. As expected, she followed behind everyone else as Mudsdale gave the tour.

The thought of such a big building being her home slightly intimidated her, but knowing that it would never be empty gave her some relief. An odd feeling tingled in the back of her mind, something felt off, like something was missing. She couldn't put her claw on it so she just shrugged it off.

There's room for two in each and we don't particularly care who you decide to room with."

Five rooms, only two in each. Looks like it was time to partner up. Karliah sat in thought, looking at the group and back to the rooms, then back to the group. She could partner up with Zee, but then that would just feel a little awkward. Maybe that honedge? No... That felt more awkward. Karliah sighed, this was harder than it looked. She only snapped out of it when she felt someone bump into her, it was the Tynamo from earlier. "Hey...need a roommate?"

She looked at the little pokemon, her tail flicked back and forth as she tried to think of what to say before responded to the question. "Uh... Sure... Have you already picked a room?" she asked in a quiet voice.

"No I don't know what the f*** berries are!" Mr. Tough, because that seemed to be his new nickname, replied. He was about to ask what a King's Rock was when Draxew explained it for him. "Ohhh, that explains it." Except he still had no f***ing clue what flinching was, but he wasn't going to ask and look stupid again. Especially not in front of Miss Fishlips here.

As the night wore on, Mr. Tough--actually that sounded really weird, he wasn't no mister, so Tough, no Tuff--realized he didn't actually have a place to sleep, unlike most of the other Pokémon here. If Draxew had any suggestions, he'd go with him, but otherwise he would end up sleeping on the outskirts of the village beneath a tree. There was something oddly comforting about doing that, as if he'd done that before.

He ended up oversleeping the next day, rubbing the last traces of drowsiness from his eyes as he walked, causing himself to lose his balance and fall on his chin. Grunting, the bear lifted himself up and stumbled the rest of the way to where he was supposed to meet up. Except...he'd forgotten where they were supposed to meet up. Thankfully, whether through Draxew's help or just plain luck, he did eventually make his way in front of...Noivy, he thought that's what she was called earlier, who looked...really, really mad, and was currently shouting.

"Ouch, cool it, my ears are burning," the Stufful complained grumpily. Noivy--whoever picked that name for her was blinder than a Zubat, or Noibat in this case. Wait, what was a Zubat again? And a Noibat? Whatever.

Lost in thought, he ended up missing most of what the bat lady was lecturing about. He did perk up at the word "human" and managed to focus enough to realize that he had mainly been chosen because Heliolisk--was that the lizard guy--wanted former humans around him for some reason. For what reason he wasn't exactly sure, he had probably missed that. Maybe the guy just liked humans? He wouldn't judge.

Soon after Miss Fishy started lecturing Noivy back, which he tuned out as well, the the giant horse lady walked up and showed them around. He probably missed her name too. Tuff was largely ignoring her and looking around himself, but he stopped short when he heard her shout about not going downstairs. The stairs he had just been about to go down. sheet. Almost messed up there. Except now he was pretty curious about what was down there. Maybe it was a painful death, or a three-headed dog, or--

"It's just storage and stuff and I'm in charge of all the boring things down there so just don't go messing around with anything!"

Or that.

She then took them upstairs, and this time there was nothing he had to avoid, so naturally he didn't. The floor above seemed to be where they would live, if he was getting this right. Except the fourth floor apparently was off-limits again. Except when it wasn't. This was confusing, so Tuff decided to just look at the rooms.

When the tour finished, the horse lady left them behind for whatever it was she had to do. The Stufful stood staring blankly in front of him for a bit. He had already poked around here and there while the horse lady was talking, so there wasn't much to do now, right? Except...maybe go to the basement.

But then Draxew seemed to have a different idea. "I'll race ya upstairs Mr. Tough!" he called out excited as he readied himself to take off running to one of the open rooms. He then...tripped over himself. Tuff could sympathize. Except Draxew didn't seem to mind too much, brushing that off with a laugh as he got back up. The panda ran after him, "Last one there's a rotten Exeggcute!" tripping a number of times himself, especially when he started wondering exactly what an Exeggcute was.

In the end, Tuff ended up being the rotten Exeggcute, but he wasn't no sore loser. The panda glanced around the room that his friend had entered, ignoring Miss Fishgirl's "This one's mine," shout from a different room. "Wanna room together?" he asked Draxew. He couldn't really say he was close to anybody here except the Axew, though Three-Beaks--Corbin seemed pretty chill. Just as long as it wasn't Miss Fishgullet. Or that gray lizard thing he saw earlier. Something about it made him uncomfortable. Not that he knew why, he just was.

Even if Draxew turned him down, Tuff would linger in the area anyway just to be nosy. "So...how you feelin' about all this?" he asked, plopping himself down on the nearest patch of floor. "Everything happened so fast. For me, anyway. Get dropped down here, meet you, apply for the guild, have fun, and, hell, now we're here. In the guild."

The end of that night had been a complete daze.  Zee obviously had fallen asleep, but somehow managed to get back to his hole in the ground.  However, since he was inducted into the Explorer's Guild, he had to make sure to wake up a little earlier.  Actually, he had to wake up entirely.  He yawned, as he hovered towards the Guild, stretching his arms in legs in mid levitation.  His long tail wagged with excitement, at the prospect of doing something other than waiting around for people to Teleport around.  Before leaving the stand entirely, he put up a sign that read 'Closed Until Further Notice', and another sign on a jar that read 'Tips are still appreciated'.  He had just arrived a bit later than everyone else had, but they had been waiting for everyone to arrive.

Mudsdale and Noivern were the ones to bring them into the Guild Hall, Mudsdale being characteristically bubbly and nice, Noivern strict but fair.  Noivern started before the tour could begin.

Are we clear?"

Were all of the candidates supposedly human before all of this?  The word sure bounced around in his brain a lot lately, but he hadn't really cared either way.  He was enjoying life as an Abra.  Certainly a better life than he had had as a human at least...if he was at one point.  Zee nodded his head in agreement.

"Very well then. Mudsdale will now show you about the guild and show you to your rooms. I wish you all luck in the days to come."

Zee turned his attention towards the other guide.

"This is the ground floor. It's open to the public so long as they have business here." she began as she motioned to some boards plastered with notices. "Over there are the job and outlaw boards. The others will show you more on that when we're done but whenever you wanna do some exploring you should always hit those up and handle a job or two."  They then were motioned towards a set of stairs that seemed to lead down. "It's just storage and stuff and I'm in charge of all the boring things down there so just don't go messing around with anything!"

"Doubtful..."  Zee commented, with a yawn.  After the ground floor, they headed up a level where Mudsdale continued.

"Here's floor two! Super important rooms. This one's the meeting hall. Report here every morning when you wake up for the Guild Master's instructions for the day. And over here is the Mess Hall which is where you'll get served dinner every night. Don't miss dinner, Buizel doesn't usually cook for their to be leftovers and doesn't like serving make-up meals. Just so you know, the fourth floor up above is the guild staff offices, particularly Heliolisk and Noivern. So don't go bothering them up there unless they've asked for you. Third floor's usually as high as you'll go. Because this is where all your rooms will be. At the end the very end of this left hall way there will be five open rooms. There's room for two in each and we don't particularly care who you decide to room with.

Mudsdale was practically finished with the tour, so Zee decided to nod off.  However, two of the new recruits shouted about heading upstairs, shocking Zee awake once again.  He shook his head, as he waved to Mudsdale before heading up the staircase.

"Thank you for the tour.  I look forward to working with you all."  The place was cozy...definitely better than his little hole he had dug up underneath the Teleport Stand.  He made sure to travel to the room all the way at the back of the hall.  This way, he would have two less neighbors to deal with.  He didn't particularly care he his roommate would be, so there was no point in asking.  There were a couple contenders for who he didn't really wanna room with though.  That sneaky Salandit, and that fowl mouthed stuffed animal.  They seemed like more trouble than he'd want to deal with.  So instead, he hovered above the left-most bedding, and waited for his new roommate to arrive.

He dreams, but this isn’t the eggshell dream he’s used to.

He dreams of an endless sky where he can soar in every direction as he pleases. There is light, yes, but there is no discernable source. He can breathe, yes, and he can fly, yes, but there is no air. There is no ground, but he knows he will not fall. And for that, he is happy.

In the distance in front of him, he can see… he sees something. It is too blurry to make out, but its browns and greens and greys still stand out against the sky’s cerulean blue. It is this uniqueness that makes it desirable to him, and he begins to beat his wings faster, trying to speed up.

It is the only unique thing in this dream-void. Of course he wants it. But despite his increased speed, it seems the colors in the distance only get further and further away.

So he goes faster. But so too do those colors. Before he can truly comprehend what is happening, he is alone again.

He wakes up, the dream having faded entirely from his memory. He has been crying, but he cannot remember why.

Felix wasn’t entirely sure what Noivern was angry about. He’d arrived on time! Well, not exactly on time on time, but he’d tried. He’d tried! Wasn’t that enough? But no, it was just “Move it!”s and cold stares until he’d appropriately shrunk into the ground enough and wished they’d just, you know stop for Noivern to start talking warnings. Thankfully, they were the sorts of warnings, that Felix didn’t have to worry about. Unfit to be here? Like, because of a lack of effort? Felix was the paragon of effort. At least, he certainly tried to be.

At least Mudsdale was more understanding. The nuzzle was nice, for example. Yeah, actually so far overall Mudsdale was the best possible alternative to Noivern’s… whatever mood she was in (though, considering every time he'd seen Noivern, she'd been in this exact same mood, maybe that was just Noivern being Noivern?). He could get used to-

“Never go into the basement without someone's permission or I'll have to kill you.”

Or that could happen. Well.

It occurred to Felix that he might not have been paying the most attention to the actual meat of the tour. To be fair, he’d been in Thicket Town long enough to have explored the first floor of the guild hall in its entirety. There was no new information there. He did try to pay more attention when they reached the second floor, once they reached the more exclusive areas, but the standard had already been set, so despite his best efforts, it was still a little difficult to keep track of everything.

He’d probably have to explore on his own to get the full gist. When Mudsdale dropped everybody off among the five rooms, it was that motivation that prompted Felix to quickly pick a room (though neither of the windowed rooms were worth any consideration. “Just don’t look down” wasn’t really an option), turn back to the rest and say, “I’m going to look around a little more. You’re all welcome to join me if you want! And hey, if you don’t mind a little snoring, we can be roommates, too!”

“Snoring,” he’d said. In Felix’s mind, it was such an obvious lie, and so fragile, too -- in no universe did he not get found out! -- but it was still better than “sobbing” and a sometimes “sleeptalking”. At least snoring was understandable.

But that was an evening-time worry. And there was going to be a lot going on between now and then. If he tried -- like, really tried -- he could almost forget the problem was there.

  • 2 weeks later...

Axew was excited to see he'd won the race to the upstairs. Neither he nor Mr. Tough seemed very steady on their feet but still the victory was his and he did a little dance to celebrate. The two were both alright with the results and some began declaring their rooms and asking others to be roommates. Mr. Tough presented the question to the young boy and he eagerly agreed to the proposal. The bear then began asking him how he felt about everything. Things were definitely moving fast for them, Mr Tough most of all. The boy was incredibly nervous somehow. Noivern's stern warnings seemed to have been aimed somewhat at him and he felt uneasy around her in general. Mudsdale had been nice enough. Still, he couldn't let the overwhelming feeling out. He'd worry his friend for no reason.

"I-I'm pumped! This place is a lot cooler than Glass Lake Town and I'm gonna explore the heck out of everywhere!" he proclaimed, building back his confidence as went on. He got a bit too excited and an awkward whistling sound escaped his mouth towards the end of his statement due to the tusks jutting out of his mouth. With the room secured the boy actually had some things to bring into it unlike some of the more recent arrivals to the town. There wasn't a lot but he had some scarves for when it was cold and a small stash of his favorite berries. One thing of significance stood out which he placed carefully by his bed. It was an orb predominantly pink in color. Through the center ran a swirl of white and light blues. It resembled a marble almost in that regard, if marbles were something the humans-turned-pokemon even remembered. He carefully placed it in a small stand he had to keep it from rolling away and made sure to place it close to where he would rest his head. All of his movements regarding it were precise and delicate, making it clear he treasured the object.

The newcomers had all been established in their rooms and as the guild filled with pokemon the morning meeting was about to begin. A call sounded through the building for all to gather in the assembly hall. At the front of the large room stood the guild officers with Noivern and Heliolisk front and center. Mudsdale waved to the new recruits as they entered. The hall filled with many unfamiliar pokemon, most recruits a bit further along than the current group. There was little chatter, a courtesy Noivern had sufficiently beaten into everyone's heads to pay guild meetings. Noivern called for attention before turning the quieted crowd over to Heliolisk.

"It's good to see everyone today! Thank you all for being on time. Welcome new recruits to the Helio Guild. Everyone please look after them and help them out as best you can." the lizard started warmly. He seemed a bit more on task here than he had been for the whole of the actual entrance exam. "Now then, today's main point of business: exploring the northern mountains! Many of you have made brief pushes into Mount Gloss. I wish everyone to know I believe a clue to the current climate predicament to reside there so we will be directing all our exploring efforts to discovering it. But meanwhile do keep up with the requests from the townsfolk and the outlaw board. We have order to maintain and we cannot compromise it. And remember-" he said as the guild readied to join him in his next statement.

"BEAM LIKE THE SUN!" the guild shouted in unison with a large smile adorning the faces of each member barring Sandslash. This seemed to be common practice. Perhaps too common as none of the officers who had interacted with the new recruits had bothered to inform them this would be happening. The guild dispersed as Noivern began calling different teams together and detailed assignments to Mount Gloss while sending others to the boards on the ground floor. Many were quickly on their way and would give passing greetings to their new allies in the guild. Eventually this left just the new recruits and three other pokemon: Noivern, a zebra-like creature whose mane made it appear horned, and a small, though nearly Noivern's size, dinosaur.

"Everyone, meet Blitzle and Tyrunt. They'll be overseeing your training for the day. They're trainees like you but very experienced. Treat them with the respect you would one of the officers." Noivern said, motioning to the zebra and dinosaur respectively before departing. This left the group with the two new pokemon though some may have seen Blitzle at the end of the festival had they watched the light show. Tyrunt took command of the gathering from there.

"What's up guys?! Are you ready to do this?! We're gonna go hard!" he shouted for next to no reason. Blitzle tried calming him some and clarified what he was referring to.

"The this he's referring to will be your first exploration of a mystery dungeon." she started before realizing many might not even know what a mystery dungeon was given most of them claimed to be humans before. "Many places are sensitive to the energies at play in the world. So much so that the path through them changes every time we enter. Pokemon inside are often territorial and confused and will attempt to attack you as you traverse it. This has only gotten worse of late with the changes in the climates but there is a fairly safe mystery dungeon nearby we use to introduce everyone to them. A place called Green Glen to the east of Thicket Town. Normally we go off in small teams so Tyrunt and I will each be taking half of you through separately." she continued, hoping she hadn't lost anyone in the process.

"Whoever comes with me is gonna tear it up!" Tyrunt happily shouted again. "Though it's kinda unlucky for you guys that Growlithe didn't get assigned this job. She's the best ever! She'd totally have you guys whipped into shape in no time!" he started but Blitzle interrupted him knowing full well how long the dinosaur could gush about their canine friend.

"We're not supposed to help you in combat unless something unexpected happens do recall. Anyway, we've got explorer kits ready for all of you which you can use to hold whatever items you have, find or buy. There's also your badges which are proof you belong to the guild. They have another use we'll explain in Green Glen. And then there's maps. It's important to always know where you are and where you're going." she finished explaining and pointed to a row of bags prepared for each of the new recruits. "We'll move as one group to Green Glen then separate once we're there. I hope you're all ready because we're on our way." the zebra said as she stepped forward with her reptilian partner. The two led the group through the guild building, Thicket Town and the road to the Glen. It would take about an hour of walking to reach their destination once they left town, providing plenty of time to talk with one another. Blitzle and Tyrunt would be up to answering whatever questions the newcomers had or just talking in general.

With the walk completed the group had pulled out of the thicket woods. The trees became much more scarce the farther they moved out until where they stood now the landscape changed to hills and bushes. The explorers stood at the foot of two closeby hills, a gap between them with a well-tread path down and into a valley below;  Green Glen. However, even from here it was clear the area wasn't much living up to its name. For one, the endless clouds that hovered over Thicket Town extended out to here. With such partial sunlight the grass wasn't holding up very well. The bushes seemed to be fairing a bit better and there was a gentle breeze that was reminiscent of a happier, brighter time. As the group passed into the gap between the hills the road very early on forked into two paths left and right. Blitzle stood in front of the right path and Tyrunt the left.

"Alright! You three are comin' with me!" the dinosaur called out to Axew, Blake and Karliah. More than likely he was just assembling what he felt to be the most badass looking team. In his head, three reptiles and a moving sword was the most radical looking assembly this group was gonna offer. Axew seemed hesitant to leave Mr. Tough and Cassidy, the two he knew to some extent but swallowed his fears and moved over to assemble with his assigned group.

"That leaves the rest of you with me" Blitzle added softly as she motioned to Cassidy, Tuff, Zee and Felix. "Tyrunt's group will proceed first and we'll enter a set time after so as to not cross paths. By the very nature of mystery dungeons that will prove difficult anyway. We'll each take the rear of the group and will not offer any insight on how to best navigate the dungeon unless you're all very clearly stumped. We also won't be aiding you in combat unless you're all in danger. You can employ whatever strategy suits you best." she concluded. With the talking finished, Tyrunt's group entered down their path with Axew doing his best to look brave leading the way. Some five minutes later Blitzle would tell her group to move down their path and into the dungeon. This was the start of it all. The group's first time exploring!

[spoiler=OOC]
Well here we are at last in a mystery dungeon. Took us awhile and I apologize for that. We've lost a few peeps along the way and know that we might lose more if similar issues persist. But onto happier things:

-Do go ahead and finish whatever interactions might have happened in the roommate selection process. We have Tuff and Axew and Cassidy and Karliah as two rooms. This would leave Zee, Felix and Blake who can either all room together, two room together and one separately or two together and I npc a roommate for the third. Regardless a finalized decision will be reached soon. Talk it out in the discord what you'd like my dudes.
-Commentary on the brief guild meeting is welcome. If there's any interaction there with other guild members or staff you wish to have just let me know and we can make it happen. Naturally this means everyone will have to pay attention to whatever details each post might add about situations.
-The same thing applies to the walk to Green Glen. Talk with each other and if you wanna hit up Blitzle or Tyrunt just lemme know and I'll get you dialogue.
-I've made the teams for the exploring and in your posts you can ask for details about the dungeon and make your first moves inside or wait for next week however it works out given the amount to be done already. Not that additional interaction in the team selection process can alter the teams if handled right so if you dont like who you're going with it can be altered within reason.

If there are any questions at all please dont hesitate to hit me up on discord. Thanks for sticking with me through the kinda rough opening phase. I hope to have you all having fun exploring for most of the rest of our time together.

Felix wasn’t really able to get much exploring done in the intervening time between picking a room and the morning meeting, and after being late for check-in, he certainly wasn’t going to be even later when it really mattered. One of the reasons for that lack of exploring was because he spent (wasted?) a lot of time just waiting for a roommate, or really anybody to take up his offer. As much fun as it would have been to look around his new environment it really would have been nicer to not do it alone, you know?

But that didn’t matter now. Now that the guild meeting had started, what mattered was paying as much attention as possible, learning all the shouts and secret handshakes he could (that “Beam like the sun!” was going to deafen someone!), and continuing to follow along whatever their initiation had in store for them next.
iU8EggM.png
“That leaves the rest of you with me,” said Blitzle.

Felix looked over at his new companions. Zee was there; Felix recognized him even if Zee occasionally didn’t (he still wasn’t quite sure what was up with that but, you know, it wasn’t like he didn’t enjoy introducing himself), along with two other Pokémon from their group of recruits. They were probably newer to Thicket town because Felix didn’t think he knew them before the festival.

Well, no time like the present to change that! “So, uh, I’ve gotta admit I don’t think I remember everybody from yesterday,” he said. “Like, I remember that you were there, obviously, but I don’t think I was able to put names to faces if that makes sense. I’m Felix! Um, I like, you know, normal Starly things and I guess it’s an open secret that I don’t like flying very much. What about you?”

“...We also won't be aiding you in combat unless you're all in danger. You can employ whatever strategy suits you best.”

Adventure at last! It was a shame that Tyrunt’s group was going first because Felix was rip-roaring to go. He stared at the entrance to Green Glenn and tried to imagine what could go wrong. And he knew he was making a mistake even thinking that but what was the alternative? Being a pessimist and expecting the worst? There was no way he was thinking that in this instance. Just look at the team! They were going to do great.

Felix turned back to his group. “So, left-hand rule, right?” he said. “Or left-wing rule? Just like, follow the left wall and see where that takes us? I dunno, that’d be my suggestion, at least.”

"Uh... Sure... Have you already picked a room?"

Cassidy gave the Salandit a kind look. She seemed nervous. It made sense given she was so young and in such a stressful situation. No parents or any family at all around and left in a place filled with strangers? Poor thing must be terrified.

"Well, I was thinking that this room right here." She gestured over to the room behind her.

Or rather she would have gestured. Had she had hands. Right.

She thrust back towards the room behind her, pointing with her entire body, before continuing in a calm voice. "If you want a different room I'm fine with that. I don't have any preference so whatever makes you most comfortable."

Cassidy groaned as they entered the assembly hall. There was a lot of people here. All close together. Why did it have to be so cramped?

Someone bumped into her and she turned around with fire in her eyes. "Hey what do ya think you're doing? You blind or som-oh." The Pokemon that had run into her was a Zubat who seemed to be entirely flustered and darting back and forth. "N-nevermind." Cassidy muttered before turning back awkwardly towards the Guild leader.

She would have rolled her eyes were such a thing possible on her current body. This guy was seriously their leader?

The Tynamo girl winced as almost everyone let out a shout, some sort of catch phrase, which she had not expected. Not just cramped but loud too. How she wished she was back in...back in....where?

In any case she perked up a bit more at mention of missions and the like. Finally she'd be able to actually DO something. Floating around here was starting to get on her nerves. It'd be nice to get out and get some action.

"Everyone, meet Blitzle and Tyrunt. They'll be overseeing your training for the day. They're trainees like you but very experienced. Treat them with the respect you would one of the officers."

"I don't think you'd like that." Cassidy thought, laughing to herself at the idea. She glanced over at the two. A big dinosaur guy and an electric horse. She supposed that she should probably try and learn something from the Blitzle but she wasn't so sure she felt comfortable around these two.

The Tyrunt seemed to have a good attitude but also started on a bit of a fanboying tirade, making Cassidy again wish she could roll her eyes. And the Blitzle just talked a lot.

Though one thing stood out to Cassidy.

"Anyway, we've got explorer kits ready for all of you which you can use to hold whatever items you have, find or buy. "

"Uh....how?" Cassidy wiggled her limbless body at the Blitzle with a bit of an annoyed expression. Which earned her a blank stare from the Tyrunt.

She never would have imagined life as a Pokemon would be so full of strife and complications.

Man. This place was depressing. If this was the "Green" Glen she'd hate to see what a "Brown" Glen would look like. Apparently they would be split into two groups and, to Cassidy's chagrin, Axew and her new roommate would be leaving with Tyrunt. "Take care you two, don't wander off, and keep an eye on each other okay?" She said to them before reluctantly moving over to her own group.

This one was basically an adult from what she could tell. What was he doing trying to be all buddy buddy with them? Well, whatever, she just had to focus on the adventure instead of her traveling companions. "I'm Cassidy." She mentioned without much else.

Though as they geared up to enter the dungeon, and Felix mentioned going left, she spoke some more. "Someone probably should keep a map of where we go...just so we can tell where we've been. Since obviously I can't do it, I'll head in first." Some of the excitement of the situation was finally getting to her as she added in a playfully confident "I'll try not to go too fast for you."

Blake just spent the morning dragging through the morning speech and suddenly awoken completely to yelling something about the Sun. He quickly checked his surroundings. He was in a large crowd with many unfamiliar faces.

Not an hour later, Blake met a Pokemon he didn't like. The big and loud Tyrunt. The loud voice did not resonate with his body well. He was over the top with energy. Blake was also lumped into a group with said disliked person, also with a theif and the Axew. So, in the first day of the guild, he got the worst luck possible. Well, time to get strategizing.

"Okay, I'll head this operation if you don't mind. So, in order to properly strategize, I'm going to need a list of strengths and weaknesses. Also, a list of techniques would be preferable."

He waited patiently.

Tuff could predict what Draxew was going to say before he even said it. Or at least, the gist of it. The boy was almost bouncing off the walls. "I-I'm pumped! This place is a lot cooler than Glass Lake Town and I'm gonna explore the heck out of everywhere!" he started whistling, which was a bit odd, but hey, people had their own habits. The boy then began to place various knickknacks into his room. It was fun to watch him move them in, especially since Tuff had nothing himself. Apparently even Pokémon owned scarves. The berries looked good, but he also couldn't say how they tasted either. Lastly, the dragon--somehow, that seemed to fit what he was--moved what looked like a pink glass ball with a swirling colors inside. There was something about it that made him unable to turn his eyes away, and judging by Draxew's actions, it was valuable beside. Or at least to him.

"What's that?" he asked curiously. "Looks pretty cool."

However Draxew responded, the two would soon have to head downstairs, where the morning meeting would take place. Or at least that's what the others were talking about, so that was probably the case. It was pretty quiet, so he decided to break the silence. Except as soon as he opened his mouth, Noivy spoke up, calling for their attention. Heliolisk, if he remembered right, was the one to speak next.

And remember-" he paused.

"BEAM LIKE THE SUN!" the shout caught him off guard, and the panda jumped upright with a loud shout himself. To anybody watching it looked like he had decided to join in himself, but anybody listening would hear that what he said was not nearly as clean.

Soon afterward, Noivy began making teams. She then introduced them to two Pokémon, named Blitzle and Tyrunt. Something about the names, especially Tyrunt, sounded familiar, but before he could think about it for too long the dinosaur-looking one stepped up and shouted. "What's up guys?! Are you ready to do this?! We're gonna go hard!" he shouted. While Tuff couldn't really understand what exactly he was saying, he could get on board with this guy's enthusiasm.

Then Blitzle stepped forward and actually explained what was going on, but the Stufful found it just as hard to understand what she was saying. There was something about her voice, and also she looked similar to that horse woman earlier. Were they related? Or did they just look alike? And wasn't that Tyrunt guy supposed to be long dead or something? Or maybe he was mixing things up.

"Whoever comes with me is gonna tear it up!" Tyrunt's voice made it through his confusion. "Though it's kinda unlucky for you guys that Growlithe didn't get assigned this job. She's the best ever! She'd totally have you guys whipped into shape in no time!" he started but before Tuff could ask who Growlithe was the zebra girl interrupted. The bear tried to listen, he really did, but his mind kept wandering to this "Growlithe" and honestly, couldn't Blitzle find a better way to talk? She sounded like a robot, or a scientist--except he couldn't quite remember what either of those were.

They then started walking, which was a chore and a half for him still, but he managed, though his pace was still slower than everybody else's. He glanced around, but the scenery really wasn't the kind to tell home about. The sky was cloudy and the grass a muddy color that looked more brown than green, though the bushes were better and the breeze felt nice. When they finally stopped, they were split up into two groups, which nobody else seemed surprised about. He didn't like being separated from Draxew, and he liked even less being in the same group as Blitzle or Princess Fish, but he would probably look stupid and clingy if he said anything, so he didn't. Instead he gave Draxew a little wave with a "Good luck," that sounded like an echo of Fishy McFish's words.

The bird guy started talking right about then.

Cassidy greeted the others with just her name, but that was just fine for Tuff. He didn't really care if her favorite color was green or whatever other stupid thing she was going to say, because he had already decided he didn't like her.

So instead he focused on the guy who actually seemed nice"The hell are normal Starly things? That what you are? A Starly?" He realized right after speaking that it didn't sound very polite. "Oh yeah, I'm Tuff. And I'm a Stufful, I guess." The human thing went without saying, right?

Blitzle motioned for them to gather, and then started explaining what they'd be doing. They'd be entering the mystery dungeon, whatever that was, after the other group. And Blitzle wouldn't be helping them unless they really needed it. When she finished speaking, Felix turned to the others, obviously excited. He looked as enthusiastic as Draxew, who had made for a brave picture heading in at the front of the group.

“So, left-hand rule, right? Or left-wing rule? Just like, follow the left wall and see where that takes us? I dunno, that’d be my suggestion, at least.”

Before he could respond, Cassidy did first. "Someone probably should keep a map of where we go...just so we can tell where we've been. Since obviously I can't do it, I'll head in first." She started to look a little excited herself, adding a playful, "I'll try not to go too fast for you."

"A map, huh? The hell is that?" the bear realized that might sound dumb, but at the moment, he couldn't give a damn. This fish was annoying him. "Sounds dumb. You sure we need it?"

Tuff wasn't sure if he was excited. Honestly? He was...well, mainly confused. He wasn't really sure why they were doing this, only that they were. He had probably missed the explanation somewhere along the way. Maybe it had something to do with them being human? Oh wait, no, Draxew had said something about this before, hadn't he? That the guild was a guild because they explored new places and fought bad guys. So what they were doing was exploring a new place, right? Except maybe not so new, since they were new too. Something about that sounded familiar, like something Blitzle had been droning on and on about.

Oh well. The Stufful decided to just take things as they went. If things went wrong, well, he'd just face them head-on. Anything would fall if it got punched in the face long enough. With that thought, the bear followed after the others.

"If you want a different room I'm fine with that. I don't have any preference so whatever makes you most comfortable." the tynamo said as she motioned towards a room she picked out.

"No... That's fine..." karliah said as she slinked over to the room. So this is who she would be sharing a room with... At least she was a small pokemon.

The morning meeting was about what she expected, minus the loud shout. Beam like the sun? Karliah couldn't really bother to smile right now.

The groups were made up and all the teams left, leaving the newcomers with noivern and two other pokemon, tyrunt and a blitzle. Noivern introduced the two as the team leaders for today's training and left. The tyrunt was as loud as he looked and the blitzle seemed at least more calm in comparison. They explained that everyone would be splitting into two teams to explore a place called the Green Glen. The mention of a growlithe by tyrunt peaked Karliah's interest but she couldn't explain why. She just shook it off and got with her group.

Upon arriving at the location, the group split into their teams. Unfortunately, it seemed like she would be going with tyrunt, along with axew and that Blake guy from earlier. "Okay, I'll head this operation if you don't mind. So, in order to properly strategize, I'm going to need a list of strengths and weaknesses. Also, a list of techniques would be preferable." Blake quickly pointed himself out as the leader, frankly Karliah couldn't care less. She shook her head and just kept walking along silently.

Zee had awoken from his slumber to go to his first ever Guild Hall Morning Meeting, something that he surely wouldn't like to get used to.  All of the usual suspects had gathered there, but some faces seemed to be missing from the crowd...although he couldn't put any names to those faces.  He shrugged, as he began to doze off, only to be awoken by the brazen speech from Heliolisk.

"BEAM LIKE THE SUN!

Was he supposed to say that too?  Maybe next time.  Noivern, and two other guild members, had gathered them all together.  Tyrunt and Blitzle would be the ones to take them on their first outing, it seemed.  Tyrunt's demeanor sure annoyed him, but Blitzle was the obvious straight man.  The dichotomy was astounding.  They announced that Green Glen would be today's mission, and moved out for the place.  When they got there, he was placed into Blitzle's group, among many of the pokemon he didn't recognize.

You can employ whatever strategy suits you best."

This was that Starly who had rejected his invitation for the Guild Entrance Exam, right?  He had already forgotten his name...the guy just really didn't stand out.

"I'm Cassidy."  The strange wiggle worm said.

"Oh yeah, I'm Tuff. And I'm a Stufful, I guess."

"Well, looks like I'm last...I'm Zee."  He said with a yawn.  "The Abra.  For a modest fee, I can teleport you out of here if things get dicey."

“So, left-hand rule, right?  Or left-wing rule? Just like, follow the left wall and see where that takes us? I dunno, that’d be my suggestion, at least.”

"Someone probably should keep a map of where we go...just so we can tell where we've been. Since obviously I can't do it, I'll head in first.  I'll try not to go too fast for you."

"A map, huh? The hell is that?  Sounds dumb. You sure we need it?"

By now, Zee had already fallen asleep among them.

Team Tyrunt

The floating sword indicated it would take charge of the team's move through the mystery dungeon. Axew was admittedly relieved someone else wanted to take point. He needed some energy for something other than putting on a brave face. Though he wasn't sure what to make of the request for techniques, strengths and weaknesses. The Salandit in the group made no comment on the matter, making the boy wonder if she'd even heard. Well she motioned like she did. Maybe she couldn't talk? That would be terrible the boy thought. Well, if no one else was going to do anything he would.

"I'm Ax- uh Draxew and I uh... well I do Dragon Rage a bunch." he said offering all the info he could think of off the top of his head. He didn't have too long to keep thinking about what to say as a verbal prodding soon followed.

"C'mon, c'mon! Move it along. We got all day to talk after we kick butt!" Tyrunt exclaimed. He had to visibly restrain himself to the rear of the group as was expected of him for this training session. Left to his own devices, he would charge in head first and lord help whatever he ran into. The group pushed through the entrance proper to Green Glen and almost immediately after doing so the walk way behind them seemed to vanish from sight. There was no way but forward as incredibly steep hills lined the path on either side. There was a gentle breeze running through the pass the four not stood in. It carried whispers of a happier time for the valley.

"Right, so you heard Blitzle and stuff. You guys go get 'em as good as you can! She'd tell me not to tell you this but between you and me, the best stuff's always hiding behind the toughest foes. So if you see an enemy Pokemon just go all out and take the cool stuff!" came the violent advice. Tyrunts approach was very clearly based around combating the pokemon who would attack either for territorial reasons or due to the influence of the mystery dungeon.

To start the road was straight. It curved some to the left, north as one with directional awareness might realize. Axew for one was clueless which way was which and was just worried about what might pop out where. There was little but the dying grass and dense bushes along their way. But this would soon change as they found a fork in the road. Tryunt stood and waited for the group's decision. To their left lie more of the same. But the right fork had some actual trees along the path. And if one was careful to listen they might hear the faintest of buzzing sounds.

"So uh, which way... leader?" Axew asked of Blake, still not sure what to call him. If this whole group was comprised of former humans he probably wasn't named Honedge. Either way it was still weird to see a moving sword at all. If the group lingered, a nearby bush would begin to rustle, a pokemon within waiting and eager for its chance.

Team Blitzle

Some time had passed since Tyrunt's group had departed. Blitzle was worried about him and what he might get up to. Would he remember all the things she'd told him to tell them once inside? Somehow she doubted it. Moreover, she seemed somewhat uncomfortable with the task laid before her. She loved teaching new pokemon in the guild but at the same time always felt nervous around them. Her first assumption about most social situations was that unless stated otherwise most people wouldn't like her very much. But at least now it was time to put the whirlwind of her thoughts to rest for a time. She called to the four remaining recruits.

"It's time we entered as well." she said calmly. It seemed the Tynamo wanted to take point which was something to see. The Starly's suggested approach worried her not because it wouldn't work but because she herself always tried to be efficient about moving through mystery dungeons. The Stufful seemed unaware of many things and would likely get himself into trouble if not looked out for by his teammates. Then there was the Abra who prone to falling asleep in any given situation.

It was fine.

They'd do fine.

It's fine.

Nothing was fine really. But at the least the group had entered the Green Glen. The entryway vanished away as they entered and they were soon surrounded by the nearly vertical hills that created the valley. Immediately ahead of them were trees and small ponds along a mostly straightforward route. It would take them east for a time and as things were mostly calm Blitzle took the opportunity to share some more information.

"So you're aware, the badges you were given hold a function past proving your membership in the guild. They have a special power to rescue pokemon from mystery dungeons. Meaning it can warp pokemon you meet or save for jobs, or even you the explorers yourselves, out in the blink of an eye. It's an important escape tool for if things go really wrong. Your goal today is to push through to the base of the tallest hill in Green Glen. Thankfully it's outside the mystery dungeon so we'll be able to meet up with Tryunt once both groups are through." she imparted to the young explorers. As always she spoke at great length with the many thoughts on hand, unsure how well she had communicated them. From there she made sure to stand behind the four recruits and allow them total freedom in exploring. But in some minutes after her speech, there were strange noises, rustling overhead in the trees. The rustling stopped as growling took its place.

All at once, two Mankey leaped out of the trees in front of the groups, both mad with rage. Blitzle seemed shocked, knowing Green Glen well enough to know Mankey shouldn't be here. They spoke no words, merely made angry calls as the two both charged Cassidy at once, she being the closest thing to either of them to beat up.

This group's exploration was to start with a bang.

As the group introduced each other, Felix got the impression that none of them liked each other very much? Like, Zee appeared to be kind of apathetic about the whole thing (was he really asleep again?) -- it wasn’t even very clear that he’d remembered Felix at all from, like, the two or three times he’d introduced himself in the past two days alone(!) -- and he probably had the best reaction out of all of them. Meanwhile, Cassidy the Tynamo had snarked back at him, overriding Felix’s suggestion with a completely unrelated one (that wasn’t to say it wasn’t a good suggestion! A map was totally a good idea! But, like… why now?), and the Stufful… Tough? Tuff? Some arcane variant he’d never heard of? He was immediately hostile, shooting down Cassidy’s suggestion almost immediately, questioning even the concept of a map at all!

And then, almost lost entirely in all that shuffle, was the Stufful’s question for Felix. “The hell are ‘normal Starly things?’” he had said. “That what you are? A Starly?”

“That’s me!” Felix said. “Felix the Starly!” He did a little flourish with his wings to emphasize the point. “As for, uh, ‘normal Starly things,’ you know, like, good food, friends, not falling to your death. Normal stuff, yeah? I could have said, ‘normal Pokémon things,’ I guess, but that extra syllable just gets in the way, you know?”

The Stufful seemed a little confused. “Seems like a hell of a weird way to say you like what you like,” he said. “But aia nô- whatever…” He frowned, or rather, frowned more than normal. He looked even more confused, too, for whatever that was worth.

“I mean, yeah, I guess,” said Felix. He tried to sound cheery as he said it, but his disappointment probably still shone through a little. He’d been hoping that even just continuing a conversation would have been enough to at least forge the beginning of a connection, just like he had with Kiera and so, so many other Pokémon since he’d arrived at Thicket Town, but it seemed like that just wasn’t going to work here. Nobody else liked anybody else.

Which meant that nobody liked Felix.

Alienation was a feeling he’d tried to forget, to put behind him ever since it stopped being a constant presence in his life. The pit it made in his stomach was almost as bad as his acrophobia’s, and the fact that the remedy involved grinning and bearing it only made it that much worse. He’d soldier on, of course. Even if he hadn’t made a mental checklist for the day (he’d been running far too late for that), Make Amends and Make Friends continued to linger from the day before. This was something he needed to do.

Eventually, Blitzle interrupted his mood. “It’s time we entered as well,” she said.

Felix could feel his adrenaline running again. It wasn’t as much as before, but it was still enough to get him ready for… for whatever was coming up. It almost gave him the shakes as he took out some parchment, implicitly volunteering to be the map keeper. Sure, he had exactly as many arms as Cassidy the floating eel (so long as wings didn’t count!), but he’d gotten pretty good at using his beak and claws, so as long as he had a few quick moments every so often to lay the paper on the ground they should be okay?

All he could do at the moment was sketch out an entrance and listen in as Blitzle provided a little bit more information. He wondered if Zee was disappointed everybody got teleporter badges. It was probably hard to just announce something like “I can get you out of danger” and then just, you know, get a button that does the same thing. But what was more interesting was their actual goal. “Push through to the base of the tallest hill in Green Glen,” Blitzle had said.

“So can we see the hill while we’re in there? Or is that another thing about mystery dungeons that you can’t see out of them?” Felix said. Maybe they weren’t going to be as lost as he thought. Left-wing rule? Who needed that?

There wasn’t really any time for Blitzle to answer, though. If she did, she was interrupted by a pair of Mankey popping out and charging straight at…

“Cassidy!” Felix called out, already rushing back at one of the Mankey with a Quick Attack. Yeah, all that drama and stuff had to be put aside for the moment. Right now, Felix was just glad that adrenaline was already there. He certainly was going to need it.

"Sounds dumb. You sure we need it?"

Wait what? How does someone not know what a map is? Maybe she misjudged the age of this "Tuff". Since he was starting to sound like a foul-mouthed kid with all the things he didn't know. Maybe he hit his head when he came here? She leaned in a bit to get a look at his head to check for any injuries.

None that she could see. And he really didn't sound like a kid. Maybe he was just dumb?

Whatever the case they seemed ready, except for the sleeping one, to go on ahead. Cassidy went in first and, as they all entered, the entrance vanished.

Okay so...that was weird. "Do things often...disappear around here?" Cassidy asked the Blitzle.

The area they were in was covered in large hills. This place felt much stranger than she had first thought. It made her nervous, this unusual terrain, but, at the same time, it almost was nostalgic in a sense. Something about exploring an unusual area felt kinda right.

She was glad to see the Starly had listened to her about the map, even if there wasn't much to map out, and was going to give him some tips when she heard some rustling noises.

A pair of Mankey leaped out and towards her a moment later.

“Cassidy!”

"I see em!" She called back, as a flash of feather overtook her and the Starly slammed into one of the Mankey. Cassidy, not to be outshone, tucked her head down and charged forward. Intending to Tackle the other Mankey as it made its descent. Before it could land.

Felix seemed a little down after their conversation, which Tuff didn't really understand. But then again, he was also trying to remember what the hell that phrase was...he was going to say something, something, something...what? F*** if he knew.

All he knew was that he was ready to take on this dungeon, and hopefully figure out what the hell was up with him being a Pokémon now. As he was thinking, Miss Fish Sticks leaned in to look at him, as if trying to figure out something. Except, something about her expression rubbed him the wrong way. "The hell you lookin' at?" he snapped.

It was probably a good thing Blitzle said what she did when she did. At least for Miss Fishy. "It's time we entered as well."

The entryway vanished away as they entered and they were soon surrounded by the nearly vertical hills that created the valley. Immediately ahead of them were trees and small ponds along what looked like a straight route. This was...really weird.

"Do things often...disappear around here?"

For once Tuff was of the same mind as Fish Girl. "Yeah, that was really weird," he agreed.

As things calmed down, Blitzle started to speak again. Thankfully it's outside the mystery dungeon so we'll be able to meet up with Tryunt once both groups are through."

For once, Tuff managed to pay attention through the whole speech. It probably helped that there were less distractions around to get...distracted by.

“So can we see the hill while we’re in there? Or is that another thing about mystery dungeons that you can’t see out of them?” Felix said.

That was a good question, and one Tuff wouldn't have thought of himself. Sounded like Felix was more than just a bird brain. Or, well, he had a bird brain, but it was a working brain anyway. Still, he didn't really see how it mattered. Before he could open his mouth and make his opinion known, though, two weird monkey things jumped out of the trees at Fish Girl.

Felix and Fishy rushed at the two without hesitation, but Tuff did. He glanced at Zee, who still looked asleep, then at Blitzle, before realizing that, yes, he was required to fight, and huh, maybe he hadn't really thought of it that much. Except, instead of fighting, his first instinct was to shout out orders. Except he knew nobody would listen to him, and why would they? He didn't remember sheet, and it looked like they knew theirs better than he did.

Maybe it'd feel better if he shouted out his own orders? Looking down at himself, he yelled out, "Tuff, Tackle!" before starting to run. It was odd, giving orders to himself, but at the same time, it felt right. Well, if it works, it works, he thought, stumbling over himself trying to charge at the monkey that Felix had targeted. If he had to choose between helping out the brainy bird or Fish Fry...he'd choose the brainy bird.

As they entered Green Glen, the Mystery Dungeon seemed to sport out a sort of hill-like environment.  Zee wasn't too particularly impressed, but then again, it was hard to excite him awake with most things except a Tamato Berry.  However, Felix and the others seemed to be confused somewhat about how the particulars of the dungeon functioned.  There was no use thinking about it, in Zee's opinion.  It was just how they worked.  No two dungeons would ever be the same.  Now, whoever was pulling the strings to make that so...Zee wanted to figure out.

“So can we see the hill while we’re in there? Or is that another thing about mystery dungeons that you can’t see out of them?”

"Do things often...disappear around here?"

 "Yeah, that was really weird,"

"They call it a Mystery Dungeon for a reason I suppose..."  Zee yawned.

Thankfully it's outside the mystery dungeon so we'll be able to meet up with Tryunt once both groups are through."

"How redundant."  Zee snickered.  "I guess If I have no power to use Teleport, I can use my badge instead."

And just like clockwork, something went wrong.  A duo of Mankey's sprouted from the trees and bushes to confront the new recruits.

“Cassidy!”

"I see em!"

All at once, the three other explorer's went to land decisive tackles against their opponents.  Zee sighed, as a glimmer shone from his eyes, as he sprawled his hand lazily forward.  A strange mirage seemed to make itself known where the Mankeys were, as the air grew heavy and hot around the two.  Confusion would make sure the two were distracted, and hurt enough, to ensure those tackles landed.  Zee then turned to the Blitzle, who was still surprised by the event, only to sigh.

"You're supposed to be my senior?  Why don't you show me what you're made of Blitzle?"

"Right, so you heard Blitzle and stuff. You guys go get 'em as good as you can! She'd tell me not to tell you this but between you and me, the best stuff's always hiding behind the toughest foes. So if you see an enemy Pokemon just go all out and take the cool stuff!"

Makes sense from to a certain degree, but Karliah preferred it if they didn't get into a fight with everything they saw. Though that was up to their "leader", not hers.

As they continued, they soon came to a fork in the road, with the right path leading into a more wooded environment. Karliah's tail swayed back and forth as she looked at the two options in front of the team. She just sat patiently for a decision to be made by Blake or Tyrunt on which path they should go on, until the rustling of leaves caught her attention. She turned toward the bush and eyed it cautiously. Something was watching the group, waiting for a chance to strike.

She looked back at the others. "Psst!" she tried to get their attention and pointed at the bush. Maybe they could try to turn the ambush on the ambusher. As much as she wanted to avoid a fight, she'd rather know a fight is coming rather than get taken by surprise. Turning back to the bush, she opened mouth and released a cloud of Smog at it to flush out whoever or whatever was hiding.

Blake was unimpressed with the Axew and the Salandit. Sure, his expectations were low, but not THAT low. They had barely spoken and seemed to submitting command to himself. 'The fools. These two are way to trusting. Ah well, might as well use it while I can.' "Alright, let's move out," He said before moving into the Dungeon.

Blake was new to the concept of a mystery dungeon. It was a fascinating thought, to suddenly disappear and appear in a randomly created environment. It seemed to be a fascinating phenomenon.

Immediately as they entered, Blake used Automize, and felt himself lighten. In front of them was a branching path. 'So, based on the demographics of heavily wooded areas versus that of normal wooded areas, I believe the right path is the correct route, as we will have a better match-up against Bugs then anything else.' Blake thought. He was ready to send us in a direction until the Salandit got his attention.

The bush in front of us had rustled. Sure, it was a was a bit windy, but wind shaking the bush that much? Impossible. However, he had a sneaking suspicion that he wasn't going to like her next move. "Don't do it." Blake said, with tension in his voice, then realized it was too late, as Smog fumes came out of the Fire Poison type's mouth. "So I guess we're doing this." Twelve blue glowing swords circle around Blake, striking each other in a Swords Dance. Blake then charged to the bush, striking in a Fury Cutter, slashing off a good majority of the bush off.

Team Tyrunt

The dinosaur in charge of the group had done his best to stay back and let them explore as they wished. But it was difficult to Tyrunt, especially when the group paused to consider which path to take. He wanted action, excitement, and battle. Instead he had quiet, not nearly as cool as they looked, kids. But maybe all was not lost for he noticed even at a greater distance the movement in the bush. His instincts for when a pokemon wanted to battle were keen and he took note well before the group did. Thankfully it didn't take them long.

The Salandit took action first and called to the group's attention before laying down a thick blast of smog into the bush. Axew was caught off guard by the lizard's sudden noise and attack and nearly tripped over himself. The Honedge prepared a follow up by strengthening himself then cutting away at the brush. An angry call like that of a cow sounded as a Camerupt charged out from behind the smog layer. It withstood the sentient blade's attack with the stone line humps atop it's back and with sheer force pushed him back toward the others. Axew had long since frozen up and watched in fear as the scene unfolded.

"This place is mine!" the angry Camerupt declared. While fire-types seldom took residence in Green Glen, this particularly pokemon had claimed some territory here. A relatively common occurrence these days which unfortunately came with aggression toward any and all explorers or passerby. To accent its anger the mini-volcanoes on its back began flaring up before two geysers of fire and bits of rock exploded forth in the move Eruption, looking to catch the whole team in its blast. Tyrunt, who had managed to keep himself away despite the oncoming battle, would be the only out of immediate danger.

"Alright a real fight!!" the dinosaur cried from the back. Axew meanwhile was trying to get out of the way of the Eruption which still caught him and knocked him back some. Thankfully no burn had been sustained. The boy attempted to use Leer but was too far from the Camerupt for such a thing to be effective.

Team Blitzle

The team has sprung into action quickly and the duo of Mankeys had been intercepted in their charges. First there was Felix whose quick attack began pushing one of them back despite a Mankey weighing as much as fourteen Starlys. Cassidy was soon pushing the other back as well with a Tackle. With support from Zee's confusion, Tuff's tackle found it's mark and together the bear and bird knocked their Mankey back a ways with a decent bit of damage done.

"I-I'm not supposed to help unless you're all in serious danger. You have to be ready for surprises and nothing looks too bad yet." Blitzle responded to Zee after regaining her composure. Her mind was still caught up in why these Mankey were here. Green Glen had largely been unaffected by the mass migrations and thus had served as a safe spot for training new recruits. But if it wasn't reliable anymore then that strategy might have to change. For the time being the horse turned her attention back to her charges and hoped they would prove capable in combat.

The Mankey Cassidy engaged hadn't been pushed as far away with only the one Tackle. And in anger he hopped back slightly before closing the distance to the small fish again with Fury Swipes firing at full speed.

The other assailant stood now facing both Tuff and Felix. It readied a Karate Chop and leaped forward to strike Tuff squarely atop his head.

Good, they were letting her handle this on her own. That was good, right? Right. It was totally good.

She was glad that they decided to work together and leave her to fight this one. It meant they could tell she didn't need their help right?

Right.

Whatever.

Cassidy noticed the Mankey recover rather quickly, to her annoyance, and charged in at her. It immediately began to swing its paws at her, in what she vaguely remembered was Fury Swipes. Weak move but one that hit several times.

She took one smack, ouch that actually hurt a lot for something so weak, before she was able to retaliate. Then a second one as electricity began to crackle around her. But the third swipe was stopped as she let out a jolt of electricity at the Mankey. She hit it dead center and seemed to stop the Pokemon from doing anything more.

Cassidy shivered in excitement as she felt the energy building up in her. There was a crackling sensation and noise around her body as the attack powered herself up. "Alright, that's it, time to show you what I'm made of!"

Literally.

The girl kept close to the ground and let loose a second, more powerful, Charge Beam. Hoping to get it off before the Mankey recovered enough to dodge.

Tuff breathed a sigh of relief. Now, thinking about it, that was...pretty dumb, right? He didn't know if he even knew Tackle, he just ran at the monkey thing and hoped that that would work. Luckily, it seemed like it did. Also, what was Tackle again? It was the first word that came to mind, for some reason. Tackle. But why? Was that a move? Probably, right? It had to be. After all, he used it, and it worked. Or maybe that was just because he hit it. He hit it, so it got hurt. That made sense. So then, what now?

Hell if I know.

"Hey!" he snapped at Blitzle after her reply to Zee. "You said you can't help, but can you help in other ways? Like tell me what moves I know." What even were moves again? Special fighting techniques? He thought so, but he wasn't sure. He wasn't sure of anything in this damned world, and that sucked. A lot. He didn't like being caught flat-footed, but at least he was...adaptable. That's the word, right? Yeah, he was adaptable. Didn't matter what the world threw at him, he would just roll with the punches and give as good as he got.

He was knocked out of his thoughts--no, really, actually knocked out, by a chop to the head. "F***!" he swore. "Damn you to hell! What the f***?!" It was tough, thinking and fighting at the same time. So maybe he should just stop thinking and start fighting. Except that attack seemed to hurt a lot, and now his head hurt and he was having trouble thinking, so maybe it was better to lie down--"F*** that!" he shouted, and ran at the monkey that hit his head. A little bump on the head never killed no one, and he was much more than no one! He was Tuff!
