Designed this as an Extra Deck archetype similar to Sky Strikers composed of a single shapeshifting machine that can take many forms depending on the need. I think I managed to get the summoning working the way I intended, but let me know if it doesn't come across.

Formalloy F                        WATER/Machine/Fusion/LV6                     2000/1000

2 Machine monsters on the field

You can only Special Summon 1 “Formalloy” monster from the Extra Deck per turn. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by the effect of a “Formalloy” card, that Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon. During either player’s turn you can (Quick Effect): return this face-up card to the Extra Deck and Special Summon a “Formalloy” monster with a different original name. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: target 1 monster on the field; destroy it.

Formalloy S                        WIND/Machine/Synchro/L6                        1500/1500

1 Machine tuner + 1 Machine non-tuner monsters

You can only Special Summon 1 “Formalloy” monster from the Extra Deck per turn. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by the effect of a “Formalloy” card, that Summon is treated as a Synchro Summon. During either player’s turn you can (Quick Effect): return this face-up card to the Extra Deck and Special Summon a “Formalloy” monster with a different original name. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: target 1 Spell/Trap on the field; destroy it.

Formalloy X                        FIRE/Machine/Xyz/R6                                    1000/2000

2 Level 6 Machine monsters

You can only Special Summon 1 “Formalloy” monster from the Extra Deck per turn. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by the effect of a “Formalloy” card, that Summon is treated as an Xyz Summon. During either player’s turn you can (Quick Effect): return this face-up card to the Extra Deck and Special Summon a “Formalloy” monster with a different original name. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: your opponent discards a random card, or if they have no cards in their hand, they send the top card of their Deck to the GY.

Formalloy L                        EARTH/Machine/Link/L2                               1500/2                  DR, DL

2 Machine monsters

You can only Special Summon 1 “Formalloy” monster from the Extra Deck per turn. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by the effect of a “Formalloy” card, that Summon is treated as a Link Summon. During either player’s turn you can (Quick Effect): return this face-up card to the Extra Deck and Special Summon a “Formalloy” monster with a different original name. If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: banish a card from either player’s GY.

Formalloy Reform                     Normal Trap

Target a "Formalloy" monster in your GY: return it to the Extra Deck; Special Summon a "Formalloy" monster from your Extra Deck with a different original name from that monster. During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the GY, you can banish this card; Special Summon a "Formalloy" token (EARTH / Machine / LV1 / 0 / 0).

The general issue with this archetype is the initial summon to start off the plays. You're probably starting off with the Link as it's easier to make (ohai Tetherwolf + Token) and doesn't require a Fusion Spell.

(Then again, this resembles more of the Super Robo series from Legacy of Darkness than the Sky Strikers; anyone remember the former?)

For the most part, the effects on-summon are pretty basic, so...not much to say (they work). X is kinda awkward for an Xyz Monster not having a detach effect (and isn't a non-Normal monster). Triggering at any time is fine, though be mindful that their stats are generally low for monsters of equivalent Level/Rank so...there's a good chance of them getting blown up quickly (and Reform won't trigger due to all of them have their restriction).

IDK, I suppose you could just modify the whole archetype by sending them to the GY instead of going back to the ED; that would sort of bypass their "can only SS 1 archetype member from ED per turn" thing. It really is your choice though.

Maybe you could have a "mini" Formalloy monster that goes in the main deck whose effect is something like "You may send this card to the graveyard: special summon one "Formalloy" monster from your Extra Deck" or have several mini-Formalloys with effects that say "Search your deck for a "Formalloy" monster whose name is not the same as this one" and then maybe one that says "You may fusion summon one "Formalloy" monster from your Extra Deck this turn, using "Formalloy" monsters as materials". It's kinda unoriginal since it feels like almost every deck does that in some way or another, but that's the thing: every deck freaking does that at this point, so it's not like you'd be breaking the game or anything. If it really needs a drawback, maybe the Main Deck monsters could say "This card cannot be searched from the deck except by "Formalloy" cards" or something to make it slightly harder to make the play since you have to first get a "Formalloy" card into your hand to start the chain, but just some easier way to get the Extra Deck monsters onto the field.
