The Presidential Alert

The Frost King

...Honestly, it makes a lot of sense.
With TVs being more and more infrequently tied into the cable networks, being able to broadcast out emergency information on a national scale is getting hindered.
Being able to instead do this through a personal device that pretty much everyone has is much more advantageous.
That way, in the event of an emergency on the national level, as many people as possible can be informed of, say, a launch of a nuclear warhead.

Just the timing of the system going online could not be any worse. We probably wouldn't be making these jokes if this system was deployed 4 years ago.

The first of many presidential mass booty calls.

for the record, this was planned, and announced ahead of time.

The fact that the president has a "message the entire country" button is absolutely horrifying, regardless of who's in office. The fact that it's a guy who is infamous for having no filter only makes it worse.

Who thought this would ever be a good thing?

that's not how it works.

Probably one of the few people who DIDN'T get the alert (and my phone was on). Could be due to disabling text messages back in 2012 or my phone is legit old.

(Roughly looks like this, but yeah, not smartphone.)

seriously thought my phone had caught a virus for a second, but after looking it up, yeah, it seems like it'll be a useful thing to have on hand, even if there's never a national emergency, just having it on hand as ,light prep for possible emergencies, is a pretty sensible move.
