Phantom Doughnut

lv 1 DARK

Zombie/Effect

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: you can tribute this card; Special Summon 1 monster from your GY to your side of the field. (Quick Effect): banish this card from your GY; Special Summon monster from your GY to your side of the field. During the turn you activate 1 of this cards effects, you cannot Special Summon monsters from your Extra Deck. You can only activate 1 "Phantom Doughnut" effect per turn and only once that turn.

ATK/0 DEF/0

So Phantom Doughnut is a Zombie monster that can bring back monsters from your grave to the field both when its summoned and when its banished from the grave though balanced by a hard OPT that limits you to one of the effects per turn.

In any decks that sends strong monsters to the grave quickly this card can be used both offensively to bring those monsters back to the field and also defensively by banishing it to bring a strong monster out to ward off your opponents attacks.

So, let me get this straight... this is a Monster Reborn with a body, that gets Zombie, Level 1 and DARK support, and even low-stat support (e.g. Recurring Nightmare, Sangan), and you get 2 uses of its effect by Summoning it, then banishing it for its 2nd effect the next turn.

I'm afraid this is too much, IMO. Monster Reborn may not see too much play AFAIK, but that doesn't justify something like this.

Sorry but this is too broken imo.

It doesn't target, it's searchable, and you can get two rez's out of it? (Albeit one per turn, but any monster during the opponents turn too?)

As above mentioned it gets too much support. Even if you negate the summoned monsters effects you'd be bringing back too much material for nuts Link and other plays.

Maybe with a condition like: "... But that monster cannot be used as a material for a Summon." This would give you a +0 into a boss monster, or a beneficial effect.

Try some limitation, and we can throw some ideas in then?

made the fix that balances it by preventing you from using the Extra deck when you use either of this cards effects.

Completely locking yourself out of your Extra Deck is a sharp limitation that really works. It tells you this is a card that contradicts nearly all modern plays, and forces itself into Main Deck based plays, like traditional boss monster play.

It's a kind of limit that is worth testing, to see if it would inevitably get limited, forbidden, or unlimited. I like it.

Agreed, the last change solves some of the issues. It limits the card to defending or reviving a maindeck beater or boss. And you can still do that Scapegoat-ish little trick of using the Quick Effect at the end of the opponent's turn so the restriction wears out during yours.
