Abductor Ray
[Continuous Trap]

Activate this card by targeting 1 Effect Monster on the field; Place 1 A-Counter on it and negate that face-up monster's effects, also that monster cannot attack. If this card leaves the field: You can take 1 "Alien" monster from your Deck and either add it to your hand or Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "Abductor Ray" once per turn. While you control an "Alien" monster, you can activate this card from your hand.

[spoiler=Intent]To give Aliens their own form of "Fiendish Chain" that can be potent for their needs.

Well, it still doesn't address a lot of their other problems; least with actually getting themselves on board a lot faster to do sheet. This card's float effect somewhat helps with that (or searching), but most you get out of it is Mother/Warlord. Being a hand trap of sorts doesn't hurt either.

Probably would help them more if the targeted monster couldn't be Tributed or used as a material either, since that's usually how people dealt with Fiendish hitting their stuff. Might be pushing it, but Aliens kinda suck comparatively so anything to push them up a bit works.

This was actually made with Cosmic Fortress Gol gar in mind (the Synchro that bounces back S/T in order to distribute A -Counters), as once you get it out you can not only loop this card, but you can get a free Alien out of it.

Fair enough, as I probably forgot about its existence when typing out my initial reply (hence the need for the hard OPT). But yeah, Aliens still need more if they're going to be proficient without relying on external techs as much to get stuff going.

Maybe you can design stuff to fix those other problems at a later date.

I honestly would like this as a replacement for Alien Mars. It actually puts A-Counters on the field rather than waiting for something else to put them on, it doesn't take up your normal summon and isn't a crappy easy-to-kill 1000/1000, it helps with swarming and provides the effect protection that Aliens desperately need (albeit on only one monster, but with the other benefits this card has, that one drawback can easily be forgiven), and it can be abused by Gol'gar for even more swarming. In general it's a far superior version of Alien Mars, and would definitely be useful.

Of course, if you're going to make more, like Sakura said, Aliens definitely need a lot of help. Mainly they need help with swarming, since they're very battle-heavy and rely on having multiple monsters on the field to help stack that "If a monster with an A-Counter battles an "Alien" monster..." effect, and most of them don't last long on their own. Whether it's getting the right cards out of your deck faster or reviving things in the graveyard, they need some way to more easily get monsters on the field. That being said, a major reason for this need for greater swarming potential is their almost complete lack of effect protection. Obviously that's being addressed with the card you made, but any other way to provide them with protection would always be helpful since most of them completely lack that. Some more Extra Deck options would be great, too, since they've pretty much got Gol'gar and that's it (not that Gol'gar isn't pretty broken as it is, but a wider selection of good ED monsters would always be a plus, especially since Gol'gar also lacks effect protection and can get plowed over pretty easily late-game).

But that's if you're going to make more of these. For the card that you made here, nice job :)

This looks quite good. An archetype Fiendish Chain that floats and gets to be activable from the hand. Now, if only it also was live from the hand with Gol'gar on board, and was searchable, but sadly Aliens don't have any archetype Spell/Trap searching.

I meant searchers for their Spell/Traps, since they already can search for their monsters. If they could grab S/Ts, they could play similar to how Phantom Knights get to search for Fog Blade, or Zefras searching for Divine Strike. However, their Spell/Trap support don't even share a word in their names nor are "Alien" cards.Tthey would have to resort to searching for cards that have "A-Counter" in their text.

I think the effect is fine. Outside of their recent Link monster, Aliens have had like a total of 1 good support card in the Arc-V era. And didn't really have any other direct support since the 5D's era. First effect is tame for today's standards. The add/Special Summon effect is great though, as the archetype could've used more direct means to do either of those. Decent support.

Though, with today's text, you should change it to "If this card leaves the field".
