[Written/Ongoing] Psy-Factor, Descend!

After being bummed by the lack of critique on my other cards, I decided to give it a try to another idea I just got and make it as complete as possible from the get-go.

[spoiler=Idea]The Psy-Factor is an archetype composed solely of Psychic monsters and whose support is on Psy-Counters, markers that trigger multiple effects on the rest of the cards. Unlike other archetypes based on counters, the idea on this one is to make more of them be on the field and trigger a wide variety of effects. The main deck is currently made of 7 Level 4 Monster and a Level 5 Monster, as well as some traps and spells.

[spoiler=Monsters]Psy-Factor Caretaker
[Psychic/Effect] | Water | Level 4 | 1600 ATK | 1700 DEF
When a monster you control would be destroyed by battle or card effects from an opponent's card: Remove 1 Psy-Counter per Level on that monster you control (min. 1) and negate that attack or effect, and if you do, destroy that card.
During your End Phase: you can pay 400 LP; target a monster card with counters on it and put on this card the same amount and type of counters on that card. This effect of "Psy-Factor Caretaker" can only be activated once per turn.

Psy-Factor Fauna
[Psychic/Effect] | Earth | Level 4 | 1500 ATK | 1700 DEF
(This card is also always treated as a Beast-Warrior monster.)
This card gains 100 ATK for each Psy-Counter on monsters you control. Once per turn: If this monster destroys an opponent monster by battle, put a Psy-Counter on it; it can attack one more time in a row.

Psy-Factor Hollow
[Psychic/Effect] | Dark | Level 5 | 2600 ATK | 2500 DEF
During your Standby Phase: You can Special Summon this card from your hand; It loses 1000 ATK and DEF until the end of turn. Cannot be destroyed by battle nor targeted by card effects your opponent controls. If this card battles a monster: Take control of that target at the end of the Damage Step and equip this card to it, then put a Psy-Counter on this card.
Control of monsters equipped with this card cannot change. If the equipped monster would be destroyed: Special Summon this card and roll a die for every Psy-Counter on this card; That monster's owner loses 1000 LP x the total result of the roll.

Psy-Factor Iceburn
[Psychic/Effect] | Light | Level 4 | 1600 ATK | 1700 DEF
This card is also treated as a Pyro and Aqua monster and its attribute is also treated as FIRE and WATER. Once per turn, choose one of the following effects:
*This card gains 200 ATK x Psy-Counter on the field until your next turn. It deals piercing damage.
*This card gains 200 DEF x Psy-Counter on the field until your next turn. It cannot be destroyed by card effects.

Psy-Factor Lasershock
[Psychic/Effect] | Fire | Level 4 | 1700 ATK | 1200 DEF
Once per turn: You can remove 1 Psy-Counter from your field: Reveal one Set card on your opponent's field, then flip a coin; if it's heads, destroy the revealed card; if it's tails, put a Psy-Counter on this card.

Psy-Factor Mystica
[Psychic/Effect] | Dark | Level 4 | 1600 ATK | 1300 DEF
Once per Turn (Quick Effect): Remove 3 Psy-Counters from the field; Target a Spell Card in any graveyard; you can activate the effect of that Spell until the end of your turn. Whenever you equip a card to this card: put a Psy-Counter on that card.

Psy-Factor Soundblast
[Psychic/Effect] | Wind | Level 4 | 1800 ATK | 1500 DEF
If an opponent were to Special Summon a monster by a card effect: you can remove a Psy-Counter from your field for every Level, Rank or Rating on the summoned monster; negate that monster's summon, and if you do, you gain 100 LP for every Psy-Counter removed by this card's effect.

Psy-Factor Timeflux
[Psychic/Effect] | Dark | Level 4 | 1900 ATK | 1500 DEF
When this card battles another card: Roll a die; put Psy-Counters on that card equal to that roll; it gains the following effects:
*When this card battles, remove a Psy-Counter from it.
*Once per turn: Remove a Psy-Counter from this card; this card gains 500 ATK until the end of turn.
*If this card has no Psy-Counters on it, destroy it.

[spoiler=Spells]Psy-Charge Aurora
Field Spell Card
When a Psychic monster is summoned: Put Psy-Counters on this card equal to that monster's level or rank. For every 1000 LP you would lose by card effects: you can remove a Psy-Counter from this card instead. If another card you control with Psy-Counters on it is removed from the field: distribute Psy-Counters among cards you control equal to the amount of Psy-Counters on that card. If this card would be removed from the field by a card effect: you can choose one of the following:
*Remove 1 Psy-Counter from this card: negate that effect, and if you do, return that card to it's owner hand.
*Remove 3 Psy-Counters from this card; negate that effect, and if you do, banish that card.

Psy-Factor Connection
Continuous Spell Card
Activate only if you control 2 or more "Psy-Factor" monsters: "Psy-Factor" monsters you control gains half the combined attack of every other "Psy-Factor" monster you control while this card is in the field. During your Stand-By Phase: you can pay 500 LP or destroy this card.

Psy-Factor Emergency
Quick-Play Spell Card
If you have 1 or more "Psy-Factor" monster(s) on your field: Special Summon a "Psy-Factor" monster from your deck with a name other than the "Psy-Factor" monster(s) in your field.

Psy-Loaded Saber
Equipment Spell Card
Equip only to a Psychic monster. The equipped monster gets 200 ATK per Psy-Counter on this card. Whenever equipped monster destroys a monster: put a Psy-Counter on this card. Remove all Psy-Counters from this card: the equipped monster can attack directly this turn; at the end of the turn, shuffle this card into your deck.

[spoiler=Traps]Factor Disruption
Counter Trap Card
If a monster would be Special Summoned by an effect other than its own while you control a "Psy-Factor" monster; negate that Special Summon, and if you do, remove from play all the cards involved in that summon and put a Psy-Counter on a card you control for every card removed from play in this way.

Factor Feedback
Normal Trap Card
If a "Psy-Factor" monster you control is targeted for an attack, you can remove as many Psy-Counters from your field as you want; that monster you control gains 200 ATK and DEF for every Psy-Counter removed this way until the end of turn.

This set still has a lot to grow, so I will accept any critic and guide you have about it.

You may need to adjust the wording on Psy-Factor Caretaker on the second effect, otherwise people would just be using him as a way to multiply things like spell counters and A-counters to an absurd degree, especially if they summon 2 of him and they just keep targeting each other, making an exponential increase of counters.

For Example: have 3 A-Counters (A-C for short) on a monster, and 2 Caretaker. during the end phase they both target the monster to get 4 A-C each, 9 total. Next end phase, one caretaker copies the other to now have 6 A-C, then caretaker #2 copies the other and now he has 9, assuming you haven't used any so far that's 18 A-C for a Golgarr or other nasty to dig from almost indefinitely.

Maybe just adding a hard once per turn or making it only psy-counters would make it fine. Otherwise, I like the idea of an actually good counter system for an archetype.

A Hard once per turn would be very limiting, but it makes some sense. A "other than-" would be better, to avoid self stacking. Limiting it to Psy-Counters makes more sense. About that card, it needs more erratas I just noticed: The first one is that the current wording makes it able to block any spell without paying counters (will need to set a minimum for that) and the second one is that "negate the effect", as one of the triggers include battle. Will thoroughly fix that one.

Psy-Factor Caretaker

[Psychic/Effect] | Water | Level 4 | 1600 ATK | 1700 DEF

Whenever a monster you control would be destroyed by battle or card effects from an opponent's card: Remove 1 Psy-Counter per Level/Rank/Rating on that card (min. 1); your monster(s) are not destroyed, and if you do, destroy that card. During your End Phase: you can pay 400 LP; target a monster card with counters on it other than "Psy-Factor Caretaker"; put on this card the same amount and type of counters on that card; this effect of "Psy-Factor Caretaker" can only be activated once per turn.

Decided to remake all the card in this one. Everybody check the original to see the changes to the original 14 cards and then give me your info on them. I'll add the new ones here.

[spoiler=Spells]Psy-Portal
Continuous Spell Card
You can replace the non-mandatory materials for Link Summon a Psychic Link Monster with 1 Psy-Counter per material

[spoiler=Extra Deck]Psy-Factor Linkbreaker
[Psychic/Link/Effect] | Dark | [W][E][sW][sE] | ? ATK | LINK-5
2 or more "Psy-Factor" monsters
This card's ATK is 100 x Psy-Counter on your field. When this card attacks: put a Psy-Counter on it for every card linked to it. At the end of the Battle Phase: put 1 Psy-Counter on every monster you control that battled this turn.
During your Main Phase 2: Remove 1 Psy-Counter from this card for every card your opponent controls: Destroy all cards on your opponent's field. (This effect cannot be negated)

Psy-Factor Linkgizer
[Psychic/Link/Effect] | Light | [N][sW][sE] | 2000 ATK | LINK-3
1 or more Psychic Monsters.
When this card is Special Summoned: Put Psy-Counters on this card equal to the total levels or ranks of the linked monsters. This card gains 100 ATK for every Psy-Counter on it and on every linked card. Once per turn: you can remove 1 Psy-Counter from this card, and if you do, Special Summon one "Psy-Factor" monster to one of the linked monster zones.

I'm waiting for your critics, everyone.

Psy-Factor Soundblast

[Psychic/Effect] | Wind | Level 4 | 1800 ATK | 1500 DEF

If an opponent were to Special Summon a monster by a card effect: Remove a Psy-Counter from your field for every Level, Rank or Rating on the summoned monster; negate that monster's summon, and if you do, you gain 100 LP for every Psy-Counter removed by this card's effect.

 Question: is this meant to be mandatory or did you just forget to put "you can" before "Remove"?

I kinda see Hollow as having OTK abilities with the right set-up. Especially if you were able to take control of a strong enough monster. This could make something like Kaiser Glider or Jinzo very troublesome.

 Psy-Portal

Continuous Spell Card

You can replace the non-mandatory materials for Link Summon a Psychic Link Monster with 1 Psy-Counter per material

Psy-Factor Linkbreaker

[Psychic/Link/Effect] | Dark | [W][E][sW][sE] | ? ATK | LINK-5

1 or more "Psy-Factor" monsters

This card's ATK is 100 x Psy-Counter on your field. When this card attacks: put a Psy-Counter on it for every card linked to it. At the end of the Battle Phase: put 1 Psy-Counter on every monster you control that battled this turn.

During your Main Phase 2: Remove 1 Psy-Counter from this card for every card your opponent controls: Destroy all cards on your opponent's field. (This effect cannot be negated)

I'm wondering if the Linkbreaker should be have a "2 or more" material requirement since Psy-Portal makes the non-mandatory materials so negligible.

Forgot the "you can". My bad.

Well... yeah, indeed... it can...

Yeah, I guess it should. Specially considering what it can do.

  • 3 weeks later...

[spoiler=New Trap]Psy-Factor Mind Release
Counter Trap Card
If you control 1 face up "Psy-Factor Hollow", no card can be activated in response to this card. Negate all non-monster effects in this chain. You gain 800 LP for every effect that was negated in this Chain. If this card is Chain Link 3 or higher, shuffle it in your deck.

Made this one to add to the set and make a more round number. Now, let's see what you think.
