[Written] Necrops: don't eat these veggies.

Hello all, this is my first post on this website. I read the rules and FAQ and looked at some threads to get an idea of how to go about this post. 

 

Anyways, this archetype of mine is called Necrops. They are necrotic crops (hence name) with 0 ATK and 0 DEF that have various effects. This is a MR4 (Link) format archetype. At first I wanted to also make these pendulums but I'm still working out the kinks in the archetype. I would like some suggestions on how to improve these cards, I will take any critique I can get!

 

 

 

MAIN DECK MONSTERS (5)

 

Necrop Perilous Potato [Lv2/Earth/Zombie/Effect(0 ATK/0 DEF)]

You take no battle damage from attacks involving this card. When this card is summoned you can pay 800 LP, special summon a "Necrop" monster from your deck, you can only use this effect of "Necrop Perilous Potato" once per turn. If this card is in your GY, you can banish 2 cards face-down from your deck, special summon this card to your opponent's side of the field, but its effects are negated.

 

Necrop Maniacal Maize [Lv2/Earth/Zombie/Effect(0 ATK/0 DEF)]

You take no battle damage from attacks involving this card. When this card is summoned you can pay 1000 LP, target a face-up spell/trap card on the field, banish it, you can only use this effect of "Necrop Maniacal Maize" once per turn. If this card is in your GY, you can banish 2 cards face-down from your deck, special summon this card to your opponent's side of the field, but its effects are negated.

 

Necrop Conniving Carrot [Lv2/Earth/Zombie/Effect(0 ATK/0 DEF)]

You take no battle damage from attacks involving this card. When this card is summoned you can pay 800 LP, target a monster on the field, destroy it, you can only use this effect of "Necrop Conniving Carrot" once per turn. If this card is in your GY, you can banish 2 cards face-down from your deck, special summon this card to your opponent's side of the field, but its effects are negated.

 

Necrop Wicked Wheat [Lv2/Earth/Zombie/Effect(0 ATK/0 DEF)]

You take no battle damage from attacks involving this card. When this card is summoned you can pay 1000 LP, add a "Necrop" card from your deck to your hand, you can only use this effect of "Necrop Wicked Wheat" once per turn. If this card is in your GY, you can banish 2 cards face-down from your deck, special summon this card to your opponent's side of the field, but its effects are negated.

 

Necrop Ominous Onion [Lv2/Earth/Zombie/Effect(0 ATK/0 DEF)]

You take no battle damage from attack involving this card. When this card is summoned you can pay 1000 LP, change control of this card to your opponent, but its effects are negated. If this card is in your GY, you can banish it, add 2 of your cards that are banished face-down to your hand, you can only use this effect of "Necrop Ominous Onion" once per turn .

 

 

 

 

SPELL/TRAP CARDS (2)

 

Necrop Feartilizer [Quick-play Spell Card]

Excavate the top 3 cards from your deck, if none of those cards are "Necrop" cards, return them to the deck along with all cards in your hand. If at least on of them are "Necrop" cards, add one to you hand, send one to the GY, and banish the other card face-down. You can only use the effect of "Necrop Feartilizer" once per turn.

 

Necrop Malignant Growth [Quick-play Spell Card]

Target a face-up Level 2 "Necrop" monster on either players field, special summon up to 2 "Necrop" monsters with the same name from your hand or deck, but their effects are negated. Destroy those monsters at the end of the turn.

 

 

EXTRA DECK CARDS (1)

 

Necrop Calamitous Combine [Link-3/UP-L/UP-STRAIGHT/UP-R/Earth/Machine/Effect(0 ATK)

2+ "Necrop" monsters.

Gains 500 ATK for each "Necrop" monster on the field. This card can attack all cards it points to during each battle phase once. If this card attack a "Necrop" monster this card is unaffected by card effects until the end of the battle phase.

 

 

EDITS VERSION 1.1

- Added targeting and nerfed the effects on “Maize” and “Carrot”

- Added hard OPT to draw effect of “Onion”
- Specified where to banish cards from on “Necrop” shared effect
- Added ability nullification to “Malignant Growth” to water down its power
- Overhauled the effect of “Feartilizer”

The maindeck monsters state you can banish 2 cards face-down to Special Summon them, but they don't specify from where. Is it the GY?

Regardless, these actually look scarily good. I'm mainly concerned on Maize and Carrot, since they remove on any Summon and they don't even target, giving them a deceptively amazing edge. IMO you should water the effects down, they are just too good for Normal Summonable monsters that benefit from Zombie revival support.

Potato and Wheat look fine and effective for providing consistency to the archetype.

 

A couple of notes on Onion:

I don't think you can Special Summon a monster again while it is on the field. If anything, you can change control of it.

There is no such thing as "banished pile". You can write it as "add 2 of your cards that are banished face-down to your hand".

 

I suggest to put a hard OPT in the draw effect, too. Otherwise you could get multiples in the GY, use the effects, return them to the GY with, let's say Burial from a Different Dimension, and get more cards. Granted, you would need a bunch of face-down banished cards to fully take advantage of this, but the issue is that the potential is there. Not to mention cards that mass banish face-down are things, namely Pot of Desires.

 

The Spells are crazy good, too. With lucky or topdecked mills you can Summon up to 3 monsters with Feartilizer. And Growth is, well, a searchable Machine Dupe. You may need to tone these down too, IDK.

 

Finally, Combine looks effective at finishing games by attacking Necrops given to the opponent. That may be its only purpose, but it's a good one.
