Dragon/Effect

When a Dragon monster you control is targeted for an attack or by an opponents card effect, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. You can only Special Summon "Guardragian" this way once per turn. Your opponent cannot target Dragon monsters you control for attacks or card effects except this card. When a Dragon monster you control would be destroyed by battle or by card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead.

So Guardragian is a Dragon monster that can summon itself when a dragon monster is targeted and protect them while on the field. In addition it can also banish itself in order to protect a Dragon monster from being destroyed for one time.

 

In Dragon decks not only will it be a effective defensive monster with its 3000 DEF and its ability to generate both a attack lock and a targeting lock with 2 on the field but also grant you time to generate link plays for your big Link monsters like the Borreload and Borrelsword Dragons.

The summon effect would need to be a quick effect in this case. Funnily enough the monster that was targeted will still likely be removed, but that's a fair balance for this Summon condition. Your final effect acts like Return of the Dragon Lords, except only for a singular Dragon monster.

I think it's too easy to get around this card to be worth a Level 8 slot in Decks that aren't working with Level 7-8s anyway. It's just a bit too slow in other decks. I do like the concept though.
