Anyone running through the D.D. Tower?  Grabbing a few extra gems is all well and good, but nothing really makes this event "jump out" for me.  Kinda feeling like this is a bit of a calm before a storm of events though.

Any hopes for what they might do for a new year?

Diana the Light Spirit for me. But that's it really.

Also Hassleberry makes a preview. Do you think we will get any decent Dinosaur monsters?

Been back in the game a lot this past month.  I feel like I've shored up a lot of my account's weaknesses (i.e. not having a good farm deck, having too many incomplete deck cores, not having certain characters/skills, etc.)

I'm still (almost) entirely F2P (haven't spent a real dime, but I've used Google Reward cash on those $.99 sales), but I don't feel like I'm actually helpless vs. other peeps now. So that's cool.

Anyone buy the Neos stuff?

[spoiler=Storytime]
So I decided to post my latest deck in the TCG section in the aftermath of one of the shortest, but personally funny duels I'd had in a while.

I was playing in the special duels and basically, I'd bricked.  5 monsters in hand, with no Wind-up Juggler for protection.  I decided to summon BW - Jin the Rain Shadow (600/500) and pass.  Rain Shadow can destroy any monster w/ DEF less than its ATK at the start of damage calc.  I also have Sphere Kuriboh in hand and several Lv 4s, so I figure I'd be able to go into Armades next turn and hopefully draw into a Spell/Trap to solidify my board.

My dude summons Maiden of Macabre (1700/0) and attacks.  Jin destroys Maiden and he sits there for like a minute and then surrenders.  Just goes to show that DL players really don't read, huh?

Yeah. I felt feeble in the first two or three months. But after getting all the Super and Ultras from one set thrice, you feel you could make a more competent Deck. The one that features Dark Magician of Chaos is the sheet.

And yeah. Some players don't always read. I made a Golden Castle of Stromberg Deck, and there was a couple of players who attacked while I had it face-up.

Anywho: Never did spend real life currency on the game. I don't care too much for the newest Booster set, so I'm just going back to the one with Black Winged Dragon to get the Ultras.

Yeah, I'm on my third dig-through of the Fur Hire Box.  I prematurely reset once, so I never got a second Widespread.  I'd like another copy of it, a third Wind-Up Juggler, and another Mecha Phantom Beast Blackfalcon.

Yeah, the DMoC Box used to be awesome.  I wouldn't really recommend it anymore though; most of it hasn't really aged well.  Only Wall of D and Forbidden Chalice are still solid, right?

It's still a nice start for beginners. The only genuinely bad Supers from Servants of Kings is Panzer Dragon and Blade Knight. Unless Instant Fusion ever comes out, you'll never use Panzer Dragon.

Me, I've gone for Dimensional Prison. Yes, it targets. But banishment is stronger than destruction. Especially on the off chance that your opponent has protection/counter to destruction (Six Samurai and Stardust Dragon for example).

I don't really know what I want right now. I'm just going back to older sets to get certain Ultras (Armades, Blackstorm Rising's, Cerulean, and Fabled).

Ayy! Went into the selection box and managed to pull my third Sphere Kuriboh. I probably won't use three in a deck, but it's good to know that I have the option to do so now. Also finally managed to dig up Red Dragon Archfiend. Definitely wasn't worth the effort (it was 7 packs from bottom), but at least that annoying itch is gone.

I've also saved up enough Google reward points to get a second normal structure deck if I want. I'm really tempted to get 2 copies of the Red-Eyes stuff, but it really isn't practical at all... Two might not even be enough anyway. I might just spend my points on the sale instead.

Anyone know what they wanna get with the UR dream ticket? I'm thinking of grabbing either Canadia (finally) or a second Galaxy Cyclone.

Ugh... The pain I feel when I see people playing 25+ card decks with the Restart skill and deck thinners like Different Dimension Capsule...  Like, if you're not drawing what you want, CUT STUFF OUT.  I don't mind decks up to 23 cards, but higher than that you better be playing Grass..

-rant over-

Anyways, I wrote a big ol' review for the new Box.

[spoiler=Review Post]
Out of the 3 main debut archetypes in the Box (Metaphys, Krawler, and Subterror), I think Metaphys has the most competitive viability followed by Subterror. That said, each deck has its own problems.
While Krawler is my personal favorite archetype among the trio, there is 0 reason to ever trigger their Special Summon effect once you know you're playing against them, so it ends up being a slow deck that doesn't really do anything if the opponent chooses to keep attacking over the monsters. I think the best use for them right now is enablers; for example, Dendrite (a R) is a FLIP foolish burial which is always nice.
Metaphys is strong IF you can get triples of the trap. The issue is that the deck will likely be pretty slow and a bit bricky. After looking through, the deck has a few solid enablers to get it moving: Aloof Lupine (a N in this Box), Asymmetaphys (a R in this Box), and Gold Sarc (In the Silent Magician Structure), all enable the deck extremely well. The deck's banishing removal, high stats, and powerful effects can likely chip through any deck's defenses.
Subterror is the deck I'm most excited for among the three. It has the potential to be the strongest, but it suffers from pretty bad inconsistency issues. The Box gives tons of enablers to let you special summon the monsters, but I think the best enabler is the "Mahjong Munia Maidens" that were given in the Bingo event a couple weeks ago. The deck has almost everything it needs to succeed and there are no URs that you have to dig for. The only issue: there's no way to guarantee any particular Subterror; the deck has no consistent searchers.
As for Red-Eyes, this box gives the deck ALL its enablers. You wouldn't even have to dig through the Box more than once if you don't want.

Despite the issues with the latter two main archetypes, both are still very viable decks and this Box has enough really solid generic support that I think I might actually dig into it. "Liberty at Last" is amazing, especially with all the decks that have GY recursion nowadays. "Keeper of the Shrine" is really good, enabling you to soak 2 attacks and combos well with low level Normal Dragons in order to always have a play. "Share the Pain" might also be a hidden gem in the R slot. ...and, of course, "Black Rose Dragon".

Only 30 card Deck I run is Golden Castle. That one unavoidably thins out itself. Anywho:

Holy--! Loving my first pulls from the Black Rose Box!

Guess there's a reason I'm able to stay F2P so long, huh? XD

Wow. My first pull only got me Black Rose Dragon. I think I'm only going to complete this box once, since my only real incentive is the Rose stuff. Maybe Metaphys.

Also, Kalin Kessler joins the fray soon.

I want Carly and Misty, just to see if their respective English va's reprise their roles. After all, Veronica Taylor is busy being Micaiah in Fire Emblem Heroes.

Given the support Fortune Lady and Fortune Fairy has gotten, Carly is a given. This is also more evident based on leaks from a few months back.

Misty has one meager card of new support, but hey. We've gotten characters like Lumis and Umbra. So Misty in Duel Links may not be in the realm of impossibility. I'd be happy to see both of them in the game as well. Especially Carly. Kalin is neat and all, but Carly's the one I've been waiting patiently for since the announcement of 5D's World.

New Box leaked!

Cyber Dragon is finally here!  Admittedly, though, I'm way more hyped for almost everything else in the Box besides CyDra (considering its rarity).

I'd been pegging for Crystrons to come into the game since 5D world's second Mini Box.  I don't know how good they'll be but they'll be really fun to try out.  Ametrix is an excellent compliment to Armades, is generic, and has 2500 ATK which is altogether amazing for just a R.

The fact that we're finally getting the first battle Attribute Summoner (Mother Grizzly) after all this time is awesome, and the amount of good Synchros in this Box is neat all around.

Needless to say, the Neos engine and the CyDark engine are likely to get a whole lot more mileage when the Box drops.

Mini Box released today! Features Vendread, as well as other Zombie supports cards. Stuff that came out in the Structure Deck from a year or two ago.

But me? I'm after my boy Unicore! Also Leviathan was there.

Time for some delicious, nutritious, 500 Gems!

...yeah, I'm giving the Box a hard skip.  I might dig into it later for some interesting potential engines or Plaguespreader, but I'd never gotten the earlier generic Zombie support and that kinda feels like it'd be necessary for this Box to really shine.

What are people's thoughts on DSoD world?

Anyone else looking forward to the 25th and the 100 million downloads specials?

I'm looking forward to getting a third UR Dream ticket in my inbox, but I really need to figure out what to use 'em on...

I'm not sure what Box I wanna dig into when the gem price gets halved. It's only the first seven series so... Maybe I'll go for a Nepthys?

Only thing I genuinely like about that world is the 1000 LP theme. Gave its box a hard pass. Magician Girls are cute, but not enough incentive for me to get.

Yeah, first 7 series will have their gem price halved as part of the 100M download special campaign.

There's better sources, but that should have all the celebration info.

I think I'll go back to the first 2 main ones to get Ritual stuff and Sphere Kuriboh. Also:

New Mini-Box releasing soon. And I've got to say...I'm not looking forward to this one. I like Ritual Beasts, but there's nothing else of value in this set. Well, for me personally.

Yeah.  That is pretty much the consensus everywhere: the Box is largely skippable.

That said, I am probably gonna dump all my gems into it after the half price Box thing ends.  When I got back into the TCG (and when I first really started posting on here) in late 2014/early 2015, the second real deck I put together was Yosenju; it holds a lot of sentimental value for me.  Even if they never become super great on DL, it's a deck that I definitely wanna make my own.

...it also gives me something to dump my Dream URs into: Drowning Mirror Force.

Like me with Unicore! Sure, Vendreads saw play, but I had my eye on a different prize.

For my 1200-something gems, I spent most of them on the Crimson set. Buster Blader stuff, Dark Paladin, and Vampire Lord. It was either this or the first two main ones, but I already pulled a 2nd Senju, and there was only 2 or 3 cards in Ultimate Rising I actually wanted.
