Millennium-Eyes Idol

DARK

Spellcaster/Effect

Level 1 - 1000 / 1000

(This card's name is always treated as "Thousand-Eyes Idol")

If there is a face-up "Eyes Restrict" Fusion monster or "Relinquished" you control on the field (Quick Effect): You can equip this card from your hand or Graveyard to that monster, as if it were equipped by that monster's effect. If this card is equipped to an "Eyes Restrict" Fusion monster or "Relinquished" you control (Quick Effect): You can send this card to the Graveyard; activate 1 of these effects:

● Send 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.

● Target 1 of your banished cards and add it to your hand.

You can only use each effect of "Millennium-Eyes Idol" once per turn. This card's effects are not negated by "Millennium-Eyes Restrict".

Destroying a card as a cost has no precedence and seems to not be a thing. Alternatives are destroying the card as part of the effect, or just send the card to the GY as cost.

Anyway, no expert on Relinquished decks but I guess this being an Idol with an effect may be more appealing than vanilla Idol, although Idol does get Normal support to work with, and that's a plus that shouldn't be disregarded right away. IDK.

Regardless, it looks solid enough as monster self-equippable from the GY for the Relinquisheds, and its quick effect... not sure what it is supposed to fix for the archetype. If it's meant to grab materials banished by the Relinquished Fusion Spell, or Allure, then IDK how effective is that since IDK how consistent is the archetype at playing the Fusion Spell. Thankfully the other effect makes it more all-around useful, by getting floaty DARK Spellcasters on the GY, namely the Level 2 Illusionist as well as Shaddoll techs.

I offered the card as a replacement for its Normal Counterpart, that would better assist any Eyes Restrict or Relinquished monsters already on the field, though in return it lost its synergy with Normal monster support. It's main use is to provide Millennium-Eyes Restrict with an extra ATK boost, since he (it?) has no limit to how many monsters that can be equipped to it at a time. (Also just realized that the card would be useless since Millennium-Eyes Restrict negates its effects, but I fixed it now.) If necessary, however, if the occasion arises where the card would potentially be destroyed, or if this card is equipped to a Thousand-Eyes Restrict or Relinquished that hasn't used its equip effect on a more powerful or useful monster, or simply to use as a combo maker, the card can make as a Foolish Burial or as banished retrieval when needed. Also used for fodder.

I wonder how effective this would be at collecting Exodia pieces. You can use each effect once per turn and both are quick so it'd take you 2 to 3 of your turns to go through them all and at worst it'd be the bait for Called by the Grave while you get another copy. The other question is how fast and how frequently one can get out a Relinquished/Thousand-Eyes.

It legit sounds like enough time for the opponent to respond to the play style so I legit am not sure if this interaction would be a problem.

At the very least it is a bit of body and battle protection for its field targets.

Maybe I should instead focus in the fact it can retrieve any kind of banished card? Maybe Lost Wind and Breakthrough Skill can get a use out of this, or good old Spell Striker engine to retrieve limited cards while Foolish Burial Goods puts them in the GY for extra consistency.... Am I going too casual with this? The play is semi-generic thanks to Instant Fusion, and the monster has support for consistency. Where Art Thou?, One for One, Foolish Burial, Armageddon Knight, even Mathematician will do.

I'd have to test the variants to really find out what works and what doesn't.
