I mean, what did you want him to say. They can't undo this choice. If they haven't worked on bring over the non-Galar Pokemon they won't be ready for almost a year so saying "we'll patch them in" feels hollow if they aren't ready come the new games.

I'm as unhappy about this as anyone. But I don't begrudge them for doing this. Eventually this was going to need to be tested. We are going to have over 1000 mechanically unique Pokemon come SwSh. At some point they were going to need to see if it was possible to not have every Pokemon in a new Gen.

The only thing they could really say at this junction was that they know people are upset and that this isn't the end of the line for past Pokemon.

Gigantamaxing was in the leak a while back. Not sure how I feel about it. If going forward the "Gen Mechanic" isn't brought forward it locks possibly relevant upgrades for Pokemon to certain Gens. However this mechanic seems SUPER narrow even in the game since the official description says only a sub set of Pokemon that Gigantamax can even do so. The main benefit they talked about also made it sound like custom Z-Moves more than anything else. If I were to guess the Pokemon that Gigantamax are fully evolved which is disappointing since I wanted the turtle to evolve.

New Pokemon thoughts

Alcremie looks cute. Again, seems to be fully evolved if my Gigantamax theory is true and if that's the case I'm a bit disappointed.

Rolycoly looks cool and I'm excited to see how it might evolve. Steampower is an interesting ability that doubles speed when hit with a water or a fire move.

BREEDABLE STEEL DRAGON!!!! Duraludon is very likely to make my team. Really hope it evolves. Going to assume so since it doesn't look like a final form, but it is also 5'11 which is HUGE for a Pokemon that still evolves. Can totally see this being the pseudo-legendary line. The two abilities are super useless unless it gets moves to support them. At least the HA is still live.

I'm not too impressed by Gigantamaxing either. It looks like a narrower rehash mega evolution.

Though the rumour mentions that pokemon like Meowth and Pikachu get Gigantamax formes.

Thoughts on new 'mons.

Alcremie: discount Slurpuff, and given it can Gigantamax, it looks to be a single stage 'mon.

Rolycoly: It's likely this gen's Geodude, and it looks like a Badnik from Sonic.

Duraludon: Steel/Dragon is a cool typing and whilst I initially wasn't a fan of it's design, it's starting to grow on me. The abilities aren't that great though and it's interesting how it can stand toe with Tyranitar despite being significantly lighter.

Version exclusive gym leaders give me BW-vibes, but unlike BW, they are different types (so am curious as to how the anime will handle this). Allister is certainly the scariest looking ghost-type specialist and gives nightmare fuel-vibes. Bea, I'm curious as how she'll differentiate from other fighting-type users.

Back in April, CoroCoro ran a competition for the most powerful Steel-type move's name and today they have announced the winner. The move, known by Duraludon is known in Japan as roughly "Exhaustive Beam" or Do-or-Die" (てっていこうせん). This name is a pun based on two different Japanese phrases making an exact translation tricky. This move is Steel-type, Special with 140 base power and will do recoil of 50% of the user's HP.

Maybe Allister will be Ash's eighth gym battle the way Roxie was Ash's when Opelucid Gym was closed... for reasons. Or Bea, not sure.

I hope Rolycoly's final evo isn't a trade requirement. I do not have a second Switch and I usually trade with myself.

Duraludon is awesome. It may be discount Dialga but still.

And Gamefreak: DON'T REPEAT THE SAME SONG AND DANCE YOU PERFORMED WITH LYSANDRE AND LUSAMINE.

I think whoever Ash doesn't battle out of the two, they will be fought by someone else. I don't think the version exclusive gym leaders will be the last though.

Ok.... so first we get regional variants, but now regional variants that evolve? Ok. Galar Weezing looks fucking hilarious though. Actually scratch that, it looks stupid.

On another note, I like the twist they went with regarding the Pika clone, with it being able to form change.

Also, Bede, Marnie and Team Yell (who support Marnie) are more corroborations to the leaked info from a while ago, and Galar Linoone being able to evolve supports the leak pertaining to an evolution for Farfetch'd.

I'm really happy regional Pokemon are back. They are really cool and Weezing looks amazing. Curious what the national dex would do with Obstagoon. For all intents and purposes they are similar to past evos added to old Pokemon so my guess is they'll be somewhere in the Galar part of the dex. Pikaclone is interesting. Curious exactly how the ability works.

All the people that have wanted an jabroni rival seem to have finally gotten what they wanted. Marnie looks pretty goth. Team Yell basically confirms the leak imo.

- I like that Galarian Weezing caused Doug Dimmadome to be trending on Twitter.

- Zigzagoon looks like it went to a Kiss concert and according to the official site, it is the oldest branch of the species (which explains why it can evolve into Obstagoon)

- Morpeko: *turns to Hangry mode*

Me: You're not you when you're hungry, have a Snickers

- I like that the Japanese version of the trailer has bagpipes playing in the background

- As for PokéJobs, it's basically a spiritual successor to Pelago. I likely won't use it much.
