Entropy Incarnate

AlphaLucario

Recommended Posts

Attribute: Dark

Type: Beast/Effect

ATK: ? DEF: ?

Level: 0

Must be Special Summoned by its own effect, and cannot be Summoned in any other way. Your opponent cannot activate any effect in response to this card's Special Summon. Special Summon this card by banishing the top 10 cards of your deck face down. Every turn after this card has been Summoned, during the End Phase, banish the top 2 cards of both player's decks. This card gains 150 ATK and DEF for each banished card on the field. If this card is destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect, banish your opponent's hand.

Criticism welcome.

Edit: (3/6/2019)- Increased ATK/DEF buff, and effect for more viability.

Edit 2: (3/7/2019) - Might rename this card, and create an "Entropy" archetype based on slowly but surely restricting your opponent's options (disabling monster/spell and trap zones, banishing, limiting hand size)

You're missing the monster's Level.

There isn't much reason for this to be in experimental, there are a few cards with each of its individual effects, so it isn't doing anything that's brand new.  Honestly, this card reminds me of the monster "Eater of Millions", but much weaker.  On summon, it'll have a whopping 500 ATK and it gains only 200 ATK every turn.  It's a bit underwhelming to be honest.  I'd strongly suggest increasing the ATK/DEF buff or give it an extra effect or something to make it worthwhile.

Thanks for the criticism, I didn't realize this until you said it.

Technically, it is still pretty weak in the ATK department since the card counts Banished cards that are on the field. Unless you plan to create future custom cards that will be treated as banished while still on the field, the ATK gain effect is useless.

By the way, I think I'd prefer to play Eater of Millions rather than this card. It doesn't power up nearly enough to help in any kind of way during the duel and it doesn't have any kind of effect to be worth the 10 top cards of your deck you just sacrificed. In some cases, it could become a dead draw if you milled yourself too much or if you need the other cards of your deck to defend against the opponent's cards, because you know, beatstick strategies aren't a viable thing in the YGO of today.

The reason cards like Eater of Millions and Pot of Desires are played despite their negative effect is because they have pretty good effects. Pot of Desires allows you to draw 2 cards, which gives you more chances to draw good cards and even potentially win the duel. Eater of Millions can get rid of your opponent's monsters pretty easily and it itself cannot be kaiju'd. You should study the example of cards with steep costs a bit more to know what to come up with.

You have a good point. Maybe this wasn't a good idea to begin with. Thanks.

Well Banishing cards on the field isn't such a bad idea. Think in this prospect that if a monster on the field is treated as being Banished, you've effectively taken a monster zone away from your opponent. But essentially, if you remove the "one the field" part from the effect, the card would probably run well in most Chaos decks.

Thanks for the idea. I'll have to think a bit about how to make this viable yet still fair. I was also thinking about making an 'Entropy' archetype, and possibly rename this card.
