Gemini Knight

lv 4 FIRE

Warrior/Effect

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Warrior monster that can be Normal Summoned from your hand or GY, then if the Summoned monster is a Gemini monster, it becomes an Effect Monster and gains its effects. During your Main Phase: You can banish this card from your GY; add 1 Spell/Trap that list Gemini monster in its text from your Deck to your hand. You can only use 1 "Gemini Knight" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

ATK/1500 DEF/1500

Warrior Gemini that can summon a Phoenix Gearfried from your hand and make it a effect monster and can also banish itself to add any Gemini Spell/Trap card..

I don't really think that the "that can be Normal Summoned" text is necessary, and it makes the card effect become really confusing. If you didn't say the card could summon Phoenix Gearfried I'd think that it can only Special Summon Level 4 or lower monsters. Besides the PSCT issue, I like the card, I think it could open a window to a Gemini archetype and maybe make Geminis be good, who knows?

The can only be Normal Summoned part basically stops you from summoning monsters that can only be special summoned by certain conditions like Gearfried the Swordmaster which cannot be Normal Summoned or set or monsters that were summoned from the Extra Deck that are in your GY like Link Monsters.

You don't need to state that, since their effects already mention such a thing. Since your card effect only means to summon any kind of Warrior monster *that can be Normal Summoned*, it only needs to say "You can Special Summon 1 Warrior monster from your hand or GY". Such a text already covers the "can be Normal Summoned" clause, simply because every monster that doesn't go in the Extra Deck and does not have a "cannot be Normal Summoned" on its text, surprisingly enough, can be Normal Summoned! It's common sense in Yu-Gi-Oh, doesn't really need to be mentioned. The only way to actually have this card summon any kind of Warrior monster happens with cards like Silent Magician. If you read its final effect, it allows you to Special Summon any kind of Silent Magician monster, ignoring its Summoning conditions. Why does it state that? Because not every monster has written in its text that it can't be Normal Summoned the classic way! You only need to include text in your card effect to cover the exception, not the rule. "That can be Normal Summoned" is not necessary.

"Cannot be Normal Summoned" is a relatively recent clause that is actually put on a few cards largely to restrict/allow their use on/against Extra Deck monsters. A few examples are the errata'd "Brain Control" and the card "Magnet Reverse". It is a restriction rather than an allowance. Admittedly, it is not very intuitive wording, but what can ya do?

As for the card itself, it is good support for a specific branch of Geminis. I kinda wish it supported Geminis as a whole, but it makes sense for what it does. The fact that you can't use both effects in one turn keeps it balanced especially considering the direction this would likely be used (Isolde). Overall, solid design.

I haven't heard from that clause, then it is my mistake. My sorry to @@Thomas★Zero.

The thing that makes me mad is the fact that I find this text to be so problematic and yet can't think of any that does not occupy a lot of space and is clearer to who reads it. Not even "have a Summoning requirement" works since smartass monsters have a specific requirement to be Normal Summoned. what a pickle
