Sect of 'Sects [WRITTEN]

Hello, fine peoples!

 

This idea came to me while on the road a few days ago. The basic idea was: "what if there was a Pendulum archetype that could equip themselves from the Pendulum zone to each other as Equip Spells?"

 

From there I just ran with it. Insect typing, further effects based on Equips, an archetypal Trade-In, etc. Generally, just enough tools to make them sufficiently grindy while also opening up some tools to allow them to clear board and swing for game under the right conditions.

Sect of 'Sects - Cult-King Scorpion

Scale: 7<>7

Insect/Pendulum/Effect

PE: You can target 1 Insect monster you control: Equip this card from your Pendulum Zone to that target as an Equip Spell (You can move this card to an empty Spell/Trap Zone). If an Equip Spell is removed from the field: You can Special Summon this card, and if you do, you can place 1 "Sect of 'Sects" Pendulum monster from face-up in your Extra Deck in an empty Pendulum Zone on your side of the field. You can only use this effect of this card's name once per turn.

ME: Once per turn: You can destroy 1 Equip Spell on your side of the field and 1 card your opponent controls. A monster equipped with this card gains 1000 ATK and can declare 2 attacks on monsters per turn.

Sect of 'Sects - Acolyte Ant

PE: You can target 1 Insect monster you control: Equip this card from your Pendulum Zone to that target as an Equip Spell (You can move this card to an empty Spell/Trap Zone). If an Equip Spell is removed from the field: You can destroy this card and if you do, add 1 "Sect of 'Sects" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of this card's name once per turn.

ME: Once per turn: You can destroy 1 Equip Spell you control, and if you do, draw 1 card. A monster equipped with this card cannot be targeted by your opponent's monster effects.

Sect of 'Sects - Druid Hornet

PE: You can target 1 Insect monster you control: Equip this card from your Pendulum Zone to that target as an Equip Spell (You can move this card to an empty Spell/Trap Zone). If an Equip Spell is removed from the field: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy this card and that target. You can only use this effect of this card's name once per turn.

ME: Once per turn: You can target 1 Equip Spell you control and 1 monster your opponent controls; return both targets to the hand. A monster equipped with this card gains 500 ATK, also destroy any monster that battles with it after damage calculation.

Insect/Pendulum/Effect

PE: You can target 1 Insect monster you control: Equip this card from your Pendulum Zone to that target as an Equip Spell (You can move this card to an empty Spell/Trap Zone). If an Equip Spell is removed from the field: You can Special Summon this card. If this card is the only monster in your Main Monster Zone when Special Summoned by this effect, you can Equip 1 "Sect of 'Sects" Pendulum monster from your hand or face-up in your Extra Deck to this card.

ME: Once per turn: You can target 1 Equip Spell you control; inflict 500 damage to your opponent, then gain 500 LP, and if you do, return the target to the hand. A monster equipped with this card loses 800 ATK, but can attack directly.

PE: You can target 1 Insect monster you control: Equip this card from your Pendulum Zone to that target as an Equip Spell (You can move this card to an empty Spell/Trap Zone). If an Equip Spell is removed from the field: You can destroy this card, and if you do, add 1 "Sect of 'Sects" Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand.

ME: Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Equip Spell you control: Return it to your hand. A monster equipped with this card cannot be destroyed by battle.

Sect of 'Sects - Fanatic Termite

Insect/Pendulum/Effect

PE: You can target 1 Insect monster you control: Equip this card from your Pendulum Zone to that target as an Equip Spell (You can move this card to an empty Spell/Trap Zone). If an Equip Spell is removed from the field: You can destroy this card, and if you do, return 1 "Sect of 'Sects" Pendulum monster from your Extra Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of this card's name once per turn.

ME: You can Special Summon 1 monster equipped to this card as an Equip Spell, then equip this card to the Summoned monster as an Equip Spell. A monster equipped with this card cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects.

Sect of 'Sects - Des-Draw

Spell

Place 1 "Sect of 'Sects" Pendulum card from your hand or face-up on your side of the field into your Extra Deck face-up, and if you do, draw 2 cards. You can only Special Summon Insect monsters for the rest of the turn after you activate this card.

 

Sect of 'Sects - Ashen Weaving

Trap

Target 1 "Sect of 'Sects" card you control and 2 other cards on the field; destroy those targets.

 

Sect of 'Sects - Carapace of the Remembered

Equip Spell

If you control no monsters in the Extra Monster Zone, target 1 face-up Insect Pendulum monster in your Extra Deck. Special Summon that target and equip it with this card. If a card(s) are equipped to the equipped monster: You can target 1 face-up card your opponent controls: Destroy it. If this card is removed from the field, you can target 1 monster you control: Draw cards equal to the number of cards equipped to it +1, then shuffle cards from your hand into your Deck equal to the number of cards equipped to it. You can only use each effect of this card's name once per turn.

 

Sect of 'Sects - Mandibles of Gold

Quick-Play Spell

Activate 1 of the following effects. If "Sect of 'Sects - Cult-King Scorpion" is face-up on your side of the field, you can activate both effects instead:

- Place 1 "Sect of 'Sects" Pendulum monster from your Deck in an empty Pendulum Zone on your side of the field.

- Equip 1 "Sect of 'Sects" Pendulum monster from your Deck to an Insect monster you control as an Equip Spell.

You can only activate 1 "Sect of 'Sects - Mandibles of Gold" per turn.

 

 

 

(Sorry, not on computer so doing separate spoilers is a pain)

 

Even though the effects are long, I wanted to keep 'em relatively straightforward. I dunno if I hit the balance on that; I think I got too ambitious on some of 'em. Furthermore, I didn't put HOPTs on everything. I think I did hit the abusable ones, but if you see something off feel free to let me know!

This gives me Inzektor PTSD from the time I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh. Jokes not aside, the idea is really well thought out. The cards seem to rotate between themselves smoothly, though Des-Draw seems really strong. Even though the cost makes it so there will be times where the card is a dead card in the hand but considering what the monsters do, it feels unlikely to happen. 'nway, great job
