#6919757 [Updated] TOON MAGICIAN OF BLACK CHAOS + TOON RITUAL (Original Card Art)

Posted by Zeaux on 16 August 2016 - 09:07 AM

Ritual Spell Card:

"This card is used to Ritual Summon "Toon Magician of Black Chaos" from your hand. You must also tribute monsters from your hand or your side of the field whose total Levels are more than or equal to 8 or more. Once, (insert the Phase you want it to be activated, otherwise it is implied that you can use it on both turns at any time you want), except during the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Toon" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it."

Toon Magician of Black Chaos

"You can Ritual Summon this card with "Toon Ritual". Cannot attack the turn it is Summoned. While you control "Toon World" and your opponent controls no Toon monsters, this card can attack your opponent directly. While this card is face-up on the field, Face-up Spell Cards you control cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. During the End Phase, if this card was Ritual Summoned this turn: You can target 1 "Toon" Normal Spell Card in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Toon Magician of Black Chaos" once per turn."

The concept of the cards are pretty nice. Fits the theme of Spellcasters making more use of Spell Cards, and I like that, even thought these are a underpowered, IMO. Toon monsters are already slow, and losing their hand (probably 2 monsters to summon this, since the Level 8 Toon monsters are garbage and shouldnt be played) to Summon this and only see his benefits later, doesnt help them. A quick-fix to both cards to make them playable could be:

Toon Ritual:

"This card is used to Ritual Summon "Toon Magician of Black Chaos". You must also send Toon monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard whose total Levels equal 8 or more. Once, during your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Toon" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it."

This way you can thin your Deck and dont lose hand advantage. It also fills your Graveyard for a next turn reborn with Toon Ritual.

Toon Magician of Black Chaos

"You can Ritual Summon this card with "Toon Ritual". Cannot attack the turn it is Summoned. While you control "Toon World" and your opponent controls no Toon monsters, this card can attack your opponent directly. Face-up Toon cards you control are unaffected by the effect of your opponent's Spell Card effects. If this card is Ritual Summoned: You can target 1 "Toon" Normal Spell Card in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Toon Magician of Black Chaos" once per turn."

You could make Toon monsters unaffected by your opponent's card effects, but that would be too much and it wouldnt protect Toon Kingdom. so I decided to protect all your Toon cards by the effect of your opponent Spell Cards, so it still keep the theme. The other part I decided to remove the during the End Phase only, like the old Dark Magician of Chaos. Gives you more speed but still keep it restricted to once per turn.

Oh, and I almost forgot, nice artwork man. Excited to see Toon Ritual now!

#6904503 Barbaros Charge!

Posted by Zeaux on 12 July 2016 - 06:06 AM

Pay half your Life Points; Special Summon 1 "Beast King Barbaros" from your Deck, and if you do, negate the effects of all other face-up cards currently on the field. You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up "Barbaros" monster you control; until the end of this turn, it becomes unaffected by other cards' effects. You can only activate each effect of "Barbaros Charge!" once per turn.

#6904361 First Orica Test

My first try at making an Orica card. I still need to fix some minor errors, like centralizing the stars and other things. But I wanted to show him like that anyway, Barbaros is one of my favorite cards and this fan art is just amazing!

Card A:

I was going to say that the artwork of this card is amazing, but then I searched its name to see the meaning of it, then I found out that it was ripped directly from a rpg game. That cuts a lot of the credit on the image for me. You even had the job to place the background of the spirit monsters, wow. Couldn't you just use another image related to that name? I mean, Taira no Masakado, according to the wikia, was the first samurai ever, it shouldn't be THAT hard to find something related to a samurai, right? Now going into the effect: brilliant. Spirits really need something to protect them. Yes, it is just when they attack but hey, it is one of the best form of protections in the game IMO and it is granted to all of your Spirit Monsters. It also replaces itself when goes back to the hand, and to balance it you made it special summon only level 4 or lower monsters. You could have gone further thought and made it special summon any Spirit monster from your hand, except Taira no Masakado. That could lead to some cool high level spirit decks.

Now for the stats, DARK is by far one of the greatest attributes and easily supported by common cards, like Allure of Darkness, some draw that spirits could use. 2400 ATK and DEF is also decent, even better than Armades and have the same effect. Again, I was about to say that the effect had nothing to do with the name because he was the first samurai and this does nothing like a samurai should do, like killing enemies (destroying a monster), or destroying something (poping a backrow), but looking further you can always say that, since Taira was dead long time ago, he is now a spirit (reasonable) and samurais have a lot of skill, thus meaning that if they attack an enemy, they won'y be able to do anything (not activating cards and stuff). It could mean any other thing, I just found it better this way.

Only one last thing, it is about the OCG. It should be "Spirit monster" not "Spirit Monster"

Card B:

Starting with the name: I tried to find a meaning to it but I couldn't find. The closest thing I could make was with the Google Translate and it turned out this "Phosphorus N distance". Going from there, I didn't find any realtionship of it with the card image. It became just a random image together with a random name to me. Not saying that the artwork is bad, it is cool and all but the name really killed me. If you have any reason beyond that name, I can change my mind on it. On the effect now. On paper it is pretty cool, everyone likes a new normal summon, but most of the Spirit Decks uses monster with level around 4. That means you have to wait to 4 spells to resolve. Yup, it counts Continuous spells that can activate every turn too but this card has no built in protection, you would have to waste cards to protect it so you can use its effect multiples times. Not even multiple times, one time only is already hard to. "But the counters wont't go way when you summon it". Still, hardly you will get 3 or more counters on it during the turn you summon it. It is also a tribute summon monster, you have to go -1 on field to activate a effect that a Level 4 monster can do it better (Nikitama gives yous extra summon a draw when goes to the graveyard). This card would just be one of theses high leveled spirit monsters that don't see play. Well, actually even then would see play before this one. For the stats, Level 5 is not that appreciated as Level 6 because they have a Spirit that can SS from hand for some Rank 6 plays. EARTH doesn't give anything you would want to run just because of this attribute in the deck and its ATK/DEF stats are poor for a Tribute monster.

That's why I am voting for Card A. Really enjoyed its effect, the only thing that killed me is that it is a already used image, could have been more creative about that.

Well, the AI is pretty dumb indeed, activating Book of Moon on its own monster, negating the effect of Localized tornado EVERYTIME, not attacking with monsters, or attacking directly with Green Rose, does not activate the field spell.

It really needs a reprogram, but the way it is now we can already test combos and stuff

What happens if there is more than one monster on the field when you activate the cards? Or you cant activate this card if there is one or more monsters on the field player? There is should be an explanation about that, like Kaiser Colosseum states that the monsters on the field are unaffected when you use it, or a Gozen Match alike effect, but that would overpower this card a lot, so just try to find something like the restriction I said before.

First effect is pretty OK, but second one bothers me a little. While Ritual doesnt get that much love, Gishki could use this in a dedicated Gustkraken Deck.

Aside from that, I dont see that much abuse, but I am pretty sure some other people will see. Also making it DARK just to combo with Brain Crusher doesnt seems too realistic if you read the name of the card. You can either change the name, or picture, whatever you prefer.

You can Normal Summon this card with 1 Tribute, but its original ATK becomes 2100 and cannot be altered. When your opppnent Summon a monster(s): That monster(s) loses 1000 ATK, and if the sum of the total ATK decreased from these monsters are equal or higher than the original ATK of a monster on the field, destroy that monster (this is a Quick Effect). Then the ATK of all monsters on the field are returned to its original ATK and you cannot Summon or activate a card effect more than 1 time during your next turn.

Help me on that little slifer here.

Unfortunately, ARA cant send a level 4 to the graveyard since this card is a level 1 and the lore says you must send monsters whose level are exactly equal, meaning this could only work with a level 1 vanilla. Since ara only works with level 1 now, i dont know about possible combos now, unless there are good rank 1 xyz monsters/deck or level 1 tuners (lazy to search). If it did worked with 4 levels i think it would be op, reasons: ara is at 3 i think and it is easily searchable by manju and sonic bird, and maxing them out would be ridiculously easily to summon this guy and you wont even have to bother with searching for her as you can summon her from deck, meaning that with only one card you gain 3 monsters presence , with her having a huge atk stat to get over most monsters and a free rank 4, lets say lavalval chain, activate the effect, top.deck manju/bird and here we go again next turn (BROKEN). Cool design, very creative but not what you expected.

awesome against prophecy, plus kalut can trigger its second effect. It is not very helpful that second effect but may be of some use sometimes. Cool support with good stats, i like it

And also i think "the creation of the creator" would be more suitable for this card, since you get to summon the creator, XD. [Never mind this comment, XD i just wanted to share some ideas, you know XD]

Actually, I want to change the name to something like "Creating". Your idea is good too, thank you for sharing it.

Level 5 / Warrior

2000 / 1500

Can be Special Summoned from your Deck if you control a LIGHT monster with 2000 or higher ATK by paying Life Points equal to its Level x300. You can only Summon "Photon Angel" again after 2 Standby Phases after you activated this card effect.

Not so sure about the OCG and balance here. Help?
