Way Back Wednesday #1 (Brand New Man by Brooks & Dunn)

11 July 2018 - 06:31 PM

In June of 1991, we were introduced to the duo Brooks & Dunn through this song... little did we as country fans at that time know how BIG B&D would get! The lyrics are telling the woman he's in love with made him a "Brand New Man". I could go on and on about B&D, but I just wanna enjoy this beautiful debut single from these two.

This song started a trend for B&D, winning countless "Duo of the Year" awards across all country award shows, having won Vocal Duo of the Year (ACM Awards) every year from 1991-2009, that's 18 awards under just one association!

Hope you guys keep checking out my Way Back Wednesdays I will be doing (hopefully) once a week, if not every other week. I may miss a week here and there due to work, but it'll all be worth it once I start getting a good groove going... Here's a hint at what the next Way Back Wednesday will be, can you guess the song/artist?

Hint for next Way Back Wednesday

Alien Berserker

09 June 2018 - 03:43 PM

I had a pretty hard time thinking of an effect, but I wanted it to be used in Alien decks, so I made use of the A-Counters.

If your opponent controls a monster with an A-Counter, you can Special Summon this monster. If Summoned this way, this monster cannot be targeted by monster effects.

Back Porch Bottle Service by AJ McLean

09 June 2018 - 03:30 PM

It is I, your country music professor, trying something a little different... a song review, and for my first review I decided to do Back Porch Bottle Service by Backstreet Boy's own AJ McLean

Not even through the first verse and I already can't stand the song, lyrically it isn't too bad, but it follows the standard formula for bro-country, it's a mix between a hook up song and a drinking song with a reggae beat to it. There's one clever line in the first verse, "Anything you want, Diddy to McGraw" and the chorus proved to me that it's a hook up song but there's also beer involved. What's with the rapping after the 2nd chorus? NO JUST NO! The bridge between the 2nd and last chorus was clever, but I could've done without the "Yeah, alright" and other spoken words within the chorus.

This song is just garbage, even for bro-country... Florida Georgia Line has put out songs better than this. AJ McLean is just capitalizing on the success of "God, Your Mama and Me", Backstreet Boys' collaboration with Florida Georgia Line, which I really enjoyed that song... AJ McLean does NOT belong in country music, he's better with the other guys of Backstreet Boys.

So I need a rating system if I'm going to keep doing this
