In Topic: [MtG] Spring 2016 - "Shadows over Innistrad"

It was actually 4 and a half. Innistrad came out in 2011. RTR, Theros, Khans, and Battle being the blocks in-between. The Zendikar return was after 6 years so its not off by THAT much.

Between the release of Avacyn Restored, aka when we were leaving the plane, and this announcement, it's been 3 and a half years. In comparison to the time between RoE and BFZ, Dissension and RTR, and Fifth Dawn and Scars, this is the fastest we've gone back to a plane. It will be 4 years when Shadows releases.

There's nothing wrong with that per se. It's interesting that we're putting Chandra's plane on the backburner, though.

Unlike Mirrodin, Ravnica and Zendikar's return sets, it feels like we're back at Innistrad way too soon. The block was just out like three years ago.

Whatever floats Wizards' boat, though. It was part of Origins, so it was inevitable we were going to come back around to it. I just feel like looking at another new plane would've maybe been nice.

Hindsight is 20/20, but if Rulers had been specifically for their elements and didn't include the text "Dragon-type," they might not have caused so much format-warping from the start. They would've been techable cards at best and people would've been like, "Wow, cool, monster staples. Not bad, Konami."

Even limited to 1, they still played parts in a deck that included all of them. Just because they could use each other to play each other. *shakes head*

Seriously? Not relevant? Well, I am playing the wrong format then.

All I saw at my friends' locals were Qlips and BAs last format, with some random rogues here and there in the form of Dark Law HEROs and Madolche. Dolls weren't very well positioned.

That might be different around your parts, but I don't think KoA is that concerned about 'em atm.

Format seems pretty good. I would say it's a shame E-Drags are finally gone, but considering how obnoxious they've been for far too long, even at 1, and given that it lets Dragon Ravine not be completely bonkers and lets the babies come off the list (because let's be honest, without the big'uns, they're the common fodder they were supposed to be), good riddance.

The other unlimits would be surprising if Fists/Glads had actually been doing much. Bestiari has been long overdue, and Fists don't have Rekindling >1, so it's not like it's going to be ridiculous at all. Just fairly budget decks, especially for everyone who preemptively spec'd on 'em while they were practically nothing. And Goyo isn't even busted anymore.

Might try coming back, I'm that optimistic about it.
