Opt in modern? Oh sweet Jesus!

Im really digging the new Favorable Winds art. I can't wait to draft U/W fliers this set and only U/W fliers. Its my favorite limited archtype.

Driving a 2005 dodge caravan (yea I know) These things have near indestructible engines and trannies. Im almost at 200,000km and barely any problems.

My friend has a manual Audi A4 that hes selling since he busted his knee and cant drive stick any more. Hopefully he gives me a good price because I would buy that car in a heartbeat.

#7024910 Justin Bieber Banned from China

Posted by Poc on 26 July 2017 - 01:13 PM

Oh, you're serious.  It was never cool.  He's just an a******.

I haven't seen the quality of his work improve at all.  If he's cleaned up his act, that's cool.  But I'm not gonna agree that his music is high quality.

No I just found the article to be funny, considering China is such a hot topic with the current regime in political office.  The last thing I expected to see them on the news for is banning a D-class pop star.  And yeah, it does matter.  Because they're going to use this to attack our people based on someone else's actions.  China already hates the U.S.  It's just one more excuse for them push back against us and work their way into headlines.  Things like this.

Beiber is Canadian so its hilarious China is using this as a method of censorship for American media. Either way its just anti-west propaganda, I doubt American pop music is a threat to China's culture. The Chinese government has destroying their own culture down to a science.

#7022722 [MTG] YCM's Very Own Cube?

Posted by Poc on 16 July 2017 - 12:31 PM

I've been curating my own 360 cube for a couple years now plus my lgs has a pretty active cube community. I'm definitely interested. I love cube drafts and playing other peoples cubes.

The thing you need to decide is what kind of cube do you want? Vintage, legacy, modern ect and what size of cube you want. 360-540 is ideal for 8 people. This will influence your card and archetype choices. Like Rinne said, certain cards that may be powerhouses in other formats just not might cut it for cube or just be way too powerful for limited.

Not doing singleton is kind of weird. Getting the card ratios right is a bit of a pain and once people figure out the card ratios you have to change it up.

#7019064 (MTG Standard/Casual) Red/Blue "Brain Flame"

Posted by Poc on 27 June 2017 - 05:40 AM

Look into U/R thermo-thing It was a standard deck that made some waves back before the format went to s*** and is pretty much what your trying to do here. The deck is dirt cheap too since its mostly commons and uncommons plus if you feel like it you can dump some money into it with chandras and gearhulks. It's a good deck to learn with too because its fairly complicated for a standard and uses the stack a lot.

#7017549 Student released from North Korea dies

Posted by Poc on 21 June 2017 - 04:20 AM

We've put up with North Korea's s*** for a long time. Our people are dying over political propaganda posters, and we can't do s*** about it? Are you f***ing kidding me? The one war I wish we would actively engage in, is one to take the Kim Jong whateverthef*** their last name is now, out of power. People are f***ing suffering and dying due to starvation in his country, because he wants to keep up appearances. He has to look tough because he doesn't have enough food to feed the f***ing soldiers he needs to protect his stupid ass. One movement, and we would be free of that tyrannical bullshit. Put that motherf***er's head on a pike and let be a reminder that dictatorships won't be f***ing tolerated.

As much as the rest of the world condemn NK and it's regime no country is prepared to handle the huge influx of uneducated and socially damaged refugees from a war there. China doesn't want more people and DK just doesn't have the facilities to handle that many people coming into their country all at once. Really the only option now is to find a way to kill off the Kim bloodline without going to war and let NK government collapse in on itself.

#7016397 [MTG] Hour of Devastation PreSpoiler Season spoilers

Posted by Poc on 16 June 2017 - 01:17 PM

From what I'm getting from the defeat cycle is that Bolas is ejecting them from Amonkhet. I don't know if any of them will actually be killed in the process but Bolas is definitely splitting up the Avengers and it will be Ajani's Job to go gather their dumb asses up. As for the cards themselves, Narrow hate cards can find places in sideboards depending on how the meta shapes up. I can't really say one is more playable than the other because its impossible to judge these cards in a vacuum.Their power and playability depends on the rest of the meta.

It gets worse as the game goes on if you look at it that way then. I doubt control or midrange decks will want to give their opponent a timewalk regardless.

#7008706 [MTG Standard] Dimir Cycling

Posted by Poc on 14 May 2017 - 09:23 AM

yea I feel like you need red to play control in standard right now. Magma spray, Harnessed lightning and sweltering sun are all great cards in this meta. Also, you want gearhulks. You don't need a playset of them but at least 1 mainboard will make this deck so much better. Oh and pull from tomorrow. Its a sphinx rev lite and gives you endless amounts of late game gas.

#6997087 [MtG] Rules Change Regarding Split Cards

Posted by Poc on 05 April 2017 - 01:30 PM

well Rip wear/tear in counter top decks, These rules were un-intuitive and a bit confusing since you had to dig through some obscure ruling to find out how these actually worked. The simplified ruling is much nicer even if it does kill some cool interactions.

#6994730 [MPS] Amonkhet Invocations | Wave 1

Posted by Poc on 29 March 2017 - 01:23 PM

Man these are ugly, I'm not sure who oked the font either because the names are near impossible to read. I expect a lot of judge calls when people play these things. I guess the theme this set is EMA leftovers? idk, Some of these feel like they fit the Egyptian Mythology theme and some just feel really out of place.

#6913996 [MtG] Duel Decks: Nissa vs Ob Nixilis

That Ob looks like the t4 (t5? cant remember lol) Warrior armor from WoW. Pretty sweet art. Not very much value in these decks unfortunately.

The design is simple and effective, the only issue is that haste is a tertiary mechanic in green and not part of blues color pie at all. The only time you'll really see haste on a green creature is if it's mono green.

#6828996 Universal Basic Income

Posted by Poc on 18 March 2016 - 07:13 AM

Government handouts like this are bad, when the government gives you free money there's no incentive to work and your economy can't grow. Not to mention the people who do work will be paying for those who don't, how is that fair?

I really hope this doesn't pass in Ontario. Taxes in this province are already out of control with nothing to show for them.
