Supposing I gave a Normal Trap the effect "When this card is returned to the hand: Do a thing." Would it do a thing if I returned it while it was face-down on the field?

AFAIK yes because the effect is "checked" or "read", so to speak, while it is on the hand. It should work even if it's returned to the hand from the GY or while it was banished.

https://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/369086-the-ycm-ygopro-casual-club/ Friendly reminder that I'm still trying to make this a thing! It's not big now, but I'm hoping to build it up again! We even have a bot!

How are BriFu and Wind Witches even remotely """degenerate""" to deck design?

When y'all see a terrible archetype, you need to tell them that it's terrible. The Advanced Clause barely needs a paragraph :P

You can, but from my experience with some designers they just absolutely don’t listen.

What CAT said. A lot of people don't take criticism as a method to improve, they see it as an attack. So, unless you find some way to soften the blow, sole people won't take your criticism to heart at all.

A paragraph doesn't waste much time. At least you'll be able to calm your conscience when they post similarly busted cards.

The difference is ban lists and card pool, with the TCG being the game as played in the Western Hemisphere and the OCG being Asia where the cards first come out. In the TCG, Apoqliphort Towers is banned so you're playing OCG.

I meant the formats. I couldn't understand why the banlists were different, and how this affected the format so that, judging from Winter's comment, Tower's isn't worth playing.

Why is OCG format so different to TCG Format?

But why such a different banlist? Surely the cards are the same?

In the past OCG had access to decks that by the time they reached TCG they were no longer viable, but that's not really the case anymore. The same decks top here top there.

the ocg and tcg lists are different because konami realized having the same list in both formats made sense, which was a glaring oversight on their part and needed to be corrected.

How would I write a card that targets a monster, then applies a different effect depending on whether it is a Tuner or not?

"Target 1 face-up monster on the field: Apply the appropriate effect, depending on whether the face-up monster is a Tuner or a non-Tuner:
    -Tuner:...
    -non-Tuner:..."

Just wondering if there is a better way than this.
