[Older Deck Support] - Gravekeeper's

11 February 2019 - 08:04 AM

Hello and welcome yet again to another episode of Older Deck Support!! (*cheering and clapping*)

This time I wanted to take a look at Gravekeeper's. Unlike with Cloudians (my previous post), Gravekeeper's are almost good enough to see play. Most of this has to do with their unique field spell, Necrovalley, but almost all of them have some potential and/or have seen competitive play in the past. I want to bring that competitive play into a more modern frame of mind and also open up the door to strategies using neglected members of the archetype.

(*DISCLAIMER: I AM SORRY I WAS TOO LAZY TO DRAW SOMETHING*)

version 1 (monster)

If this card is in your hand or field (Quick Effect): You can tribute this card; negate the effects of \"Necrovalley\", until the end of this turn. If this card is in the GY and \"Necrovalley\" is on the field (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Field Spell; destroy it, also, after that, Special Summon this card. You can only use 1 \"Gravekeeper's Khopesh\" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

current (monster)

While this card is on the field and you control "Necrovalley", the activation and effects of "Gravekeeper's" monsters activated on your field cannot be negated.

version 1 (pendulum)

Each time your opponent takes damage from the effect of a \"Gravekeeper's\" monster, except \"Gravekeeper's Khopesh\", inflict 300 damage to your opponent.

current (pendulum)

You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "Gravekeeper's" monsters. This effect cannot be negated. (Quick Effect): You can target 1 face-down Defense Position "Gravekeeper's" monster you control; change that target to face-up Attack or Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Gravekeeper's Khopesh" once per turn.

current (monster)

If you control a \"Gravekeeper's\" monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). When this card is Summoned: You can target 1 \"Necrovalley\" card in your GY; Set that target, but banish it during the End Phase of your next turn if it is still on the field. This effect is unaffected by \"Necrovalley\".

version 1 (pendulum)

While \"Necrovalley\" is on the field, the activation and effects of \"Gravekeeper's\" monsters activated on your field cannot be negated. During your End Phase: You can destroy this card, and if you do, add 1 \"Gravekeeper's\" monster, except \"Gravekeeper's Vizier\", from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of \"Gravekeeper's Vizier\" once per turn.

current (pendulum)

You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "Gravekeeper's" monsters. This effect cannot be negated. (Quick Effect): You can target 1 face-up Attack or Defense Position "Gravekeeper's" monster you control; change that target to face-down Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Gravekeeper's Vizier" once per turn.

[Better Older Deck Support] - Cloudians

15 January 2019 - 11:10 AM

Hi again! Frustrated by a wave of bad support for older decks, I took it upon myself to try and re-imagine some of these concepts from decks I either know a lot about or have actually played myself. This time it's Cloudians. Although Cloudian Aerosol is not a bad card, I don't feel like it's enough. That being said, It'd feel like a cop-out if I just made a Link monster and called it a day. So instead I've made 3 cards that I feel like truly help modernize the theme of Cloudians: a control deck that out values your opponent. Please share your thoughts!

(The one I drew myself :D *DISCLAIMER: NOT AN ARTIST*)

pR6VZRa.png

version 1

If you control 2 or more \"Cloudian\" monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Cannot be destroyed by battle. If this card is in face-up Defense Position, destroy it. All \"Cloudian\" monsters you control gain 100 ATK for every Fog Counter on the field. Once per turn, you can remove any number of Fog Counters on this card: Add 1 \"Cloudian\" monster from your Deck to your hand whose Level equals the number of Fog Counters removed. If you removed 3 or more, you can add 1 \"Cloudian\" Spell/Trap instead.

current

If you control 2 or more \"Cloudian\" monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Cannot be destroyed by battle. If this card is in face-up Defense Position, destroy it. When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned by its own effect: Place 1 Fog Counter on this card for each \"Cloudian\" monster on the field. Once per turn, you can remove any number of Fog Counters on this card: Add 1 \"Cloudian\" monster from your Deck to your hand whose Level equals the number of Fog Counters removed.

Cards and effects cannot change the battle position of \"Cloudian\" monsters you control with Fog Counters. You can only use each of the following effects of \"Gathering Cloudian\" once per turn.\n● Activate 1 \"Cloudian Squall\" from your Deck or GY.\n● Remove Fog Counters from anywhere on the field; you can Normal Summon 1 \"Cloudian\" monster whose Level equals the number of Fog Counters removed in addition to your Normal Summon/Set, and if you do, draw 1 card.

version 1

Once per turn, if a \"Cloudian\" monster(s) you control would be destroyed by card effect, you can remove 1 Fog Counter from that monster(s) instead. Once per turn: You can activate 1 of the following effects.\n● Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower banished \"Cloudian\" monster.\n● Return 1 \"Cloudian\" monster you control or in your GY to the Deck, and if you do, distribute Fog Counters equal to its Level to face-up monsters.

current

Once per turn, if a \"Cloudian\" monster(s) you control would be destroyed by card effect, you can remove 1 Fog Counter from that monster(s) instead. You can only use each of the following effects of \"Cloudian Storm Wall\" once per turn.\n● Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower banished \"Cloudian\" monster.\n● Return 1 \"Cloudian\" monster you control or in your GY to the Deck, also, after that, distribute Fog Counters equal to its Level to face-up monsters.

(another one I drew <3)

fprlO06.png

When this card is activated: You can add 1 Spell/Trap that has \"Cloudian\" in its text, except \"Cloudian Kingdom\", from your Deck to your hand, and if you do, send 1 \"Cloudian\" card from your hand to the GY. If you cannot, banish the added card instead, face-down. All monsters with Fog Counters, except Fairy monsters, lose 100 ATK for each Fog Counter on them. If a monster with Fog Counters is destroyed: Distribute those Fog Counters to face-up \"Cloudian\" monsters you control (evenly).

[Balanced Video Game Cards] - Final Fantasy X (Seymour Guado)

13 January 2019 - 01:38 PM

Hi everyone! This is my first post (well I failed my first one, so this is my first REAL one) and I wanted to share something creative I was trying. Essentially taking characters that I like from other series that I like and trying to convert them into PLAYABLE cards in the current TCG. My first subject is the annoying asshat Seymour from FFX. A character that is not only despicable, but never dies! Please feel free to give any criticism, but I also want people's opinion of how well I  captured his characteristics in these cards.

Seymour (base form) and his Aeon, Anima:

nU1jVzV.png  3IRUuUb.png

Monster effect:

When this card is Normal Summoned: Special Summon 2 \"Guado Tokens\" (Warrior/EARTH/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 2000). They cannot be used for the Summon of a monster. While you control any \"Guado Tokens\", your opponent cannot target this card for an attack. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; it loses 500 ATK. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this effect. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone.

Pendulum effect:

You can only control 1 \"Aeon\" monster. Once per turn, during your Main Phase: You can Special Summon 1 \"Aeon\" monster from your Extra Deck. (This is treated as a Link Summon.) If this card is removed from the field, destroy any monster Special Summoned this way. If this card in your Pendulum Zone is destroyed after being placed there from the Monster Zone: Banish this card; during your next Standby Phase, Special Summon 1 \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Natus\" from your Extra Deck and attach this card to it as material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon.)

Anima effect:

Must be Link Summoned. Cannot be used to Summon a monster. Each time a player takes damage from a card effect, except this effect of \"Aeon - Anima\", their opponent takes the same amount of damage. Your opponent takes no battle damage from battles involving this card. Monsters destroyed by battle with this card have their effects negated. If this card attacks, after damage calculation: You take 1000 damage.

Seymour Natus and his minion, Mortibody:
1spgL2M.png  0pNxle8.png

Monster effect:

Must be Xyz Summoned by the effect of \"Final Fantasy - Seymour\" and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Xyz Summoned: Special Summon 1 \"Mortibody\" from your Extra Deck to the Main Monster Zone. (This is treated as a Link Summon.) Once per turn: You can detach 1 material from this card; banish all Extra Deck monsters on the field, except this card or \"Mortibody\", also you cannot declare attacks this turn. When this card is removed from the field: Return all monsters banished by this effect to the Extra Deck. This effect cannot be negated. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone.

Pendulum effect:

If this card in your Pendulum Zone is destroyed after being placed there from the Monster Zone: Banish this card; during your next Standby Phase, Special Summon 1 \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Flux\" from your Extra Deck and attach this card to it as material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon. Transfer its materials to the Summoned monster.)

Mortibody effect:

Must be Link Summoned. Cannot be used to Summon a monster. You can only control 1 \"Mortibody\". You take no battle damage from battles involving this card. If you do not control exactly 1 \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Natus\": Return this card to the Extra Deck. If a \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Natus\" you control is targeted for an attack or by a card effect: Change the target to this card. If this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect: Pay 1000 LP instead.

Seymour Flux and his minion, Mortiorchis:
4Ug5oWy.png  rbJpIxT.png

Monster effect:

Must be Xyz Summoned by the effect of \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Natus\" and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be Tributed. Any effect that would make your opponent gain LP inflicts the same amount of damage to them instead. When this card is Xyz Summoned: Special Summon 1 \"Mortiorchis\" from your Extra Deck to the Main Monster Zone. (This is treated as a Link Summon.) If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone.

If this card in your Pendulum Zone is destroyed after being placed there from the Monster Zone: Banish this card; during your next Standby Phase, Special Summon 1 \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Omnis\" from your Extra Deck and attach this card to it as material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon. Transfer its materials to the Summoned monster.)

If you do not control exactly 1 \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Flux\": Return this card to the Extra Deck. If a player takes battle damage from a battle involving this card: That player gains LP equal to the damage inflicted. If a \"Final Fantasy - Seymour Flux\" you control or this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect: Pay 1000 LP instead (for each).

Seymour Omnis and his minions, Mortiphasms:
