The Darkness will take form in the guise of millions. Bodies derived from legend and mystery shall become tangible and twisted. The blight will blanket the land, and it will be then that the cry of help will be heard. But it will be too late. By then the tribes will be divided. The cry will fall upon deaf ears...that is...until the tribes offer up a---
Oh joy, the most deliciously fun part of an RP! (NOT!).

1. All applicable YCM rules(including the Advanced Clause) applies, no exceptions.

2. Be courteous, kind, and constructive in your interactions with other RP members.

3. No godmodding, powerplay, metagaming, or anything of that nature...exceptions may be made in certain circumstances.

4. Note that I am host of this RP and I what I say goes. I reserve the right to take control of characters in order to advance the plot, if need be, as well as ask you to remove/edit any IC post, or OOC post for that matter, that I deem problematic or disrespectful.

5. While I do advocate for sub-plots, please do not undermine or impede any major plot device currently at work.

6. Note that while we will always be accepting new applicants, that there will be times during this RP that it is not opportune to introduce a new character. You may be required to wait to partake in IC posting until it is an appropriate time to do so.

7. You may only create 1 High Shaman Character, exceptions may be made at a later date. (Please refer to the list of available tribal shamans needed)

8. No reserves will be accepted, but WIP applications are acceptable

9. NEW! Participants may create Mega Evolutions for any non-Legendary Pokemon, if they so wish. Note, that each character may only possess one Mega Stone and by extension, one Mega Pokemon.

[I reserve the rights to add/delete/edit rules as I see fit.]

If you have any questions or concerns about the above rules, do not be afraid to voice said concerns either in the OOC or via PM.
While yes this is a Pokemon RP, it will not be the kind of Pokemon RP that this website is used to. Instead of Gym Battles and Pokeballs, this non-canon Pokemon World consists more of Pokemon Shamanism and tribal conflict. This RP will be taking place on an island region known as Koden. Due to the lack of sailing expertise and general fear of the ocean, the peoples of Koden have not traveled far into its waters. A few off shore islands have been discovered, but outside of that, the Pokemon World has been left largely unexplored. Koden is conveniently populated with every species of wild Pokemon. Its terrain consists mostly of forest, but its large size does allow for some other bio-spheres to be prevalent. There are many ancient ruins scattered throughout Koden, as well as some not-so ancient temples that are places of worship to Legendary Pokemon. The era of this world has yet to be touched by technology. There is no electricity, aside from that used in electric attacks, there is no indoor plumbing...heck, there is barely an 'indoors'. The population of this world is largely focused on individual tribes of people that are just fighting to survive.

As is to be expected in a Pokemon RP, there is going to be Pokemon. However, you will not control a team of Pokemon larger than three. Pokemon are no longer contained in Pokeballs and are no longer brainwashed by glorified bottle caps. Bonds must be forged with your new companions, and a level of trust must exist between human and creature that not even Ash could comprehend. Pokemon are no longer just tools for battle, or friends for adventure, they are now essentials for survival. In a nearly prehistoric world, wild Pokemon are a danger for most anyone. Their massive population and savage disposition make them infinitely more powerful than we have witnessed through the eyes of Ash and his constantly shifting companions. Not only has Pokemon Training changed, but so has the Pokemon Trainer.

Any normal person can be a Pokemon Trainer. They just need to establish a bond with a Pokemon, and the two become mutualistic organisms. But, there is a level that transcends the level of just a mere Pokemon Trainer. In this world, the title of Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and Pokemon Champions have been replaced by Pokemon Shamans.

Pokemon Shamans are trainers that have reached a new level of bonding and understanding of their Pokemon. They are able to harness and channel the powers of their most trusted friends, using them as a sort of familiar to practice a form of magic that is representative of their Pokemon friend. Most Pokemon Shamans are only able to form this kind of connection with one of their Pokemon, but it is not unheard of for a Shaman to have more than one PokeFamiliar. That being said, I would carefully monitor just how powerful you make your characters.

There is one more thing that has to be addressed here and it has to do with the thing that has been running through your mind since you opened up the thread for a Pokemon RP. Legendaries. Let me start off by saying that no you cannot own any Legendaries. Go ahead, take a moment pout. Done? Good, because I've got some news that you should like. You will be allowed to make a form of character known as a High Shaman.

A High Shaman is a Pokemon Shaman that has formed a connection to a Legendary Pokemon, usually through meditation or study, and is able to harness their divine power. Now of course, there are limitations to how much power you can draw from your Legendary PokeFamiliar, but I will leave that limit unmarked for now. I trust that you'll be able to see the line when you come to it.

With all that said, I hope that you have gained an understanding of this new world. There is much more to cover, but you've got the basics now. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments do not be afraid to voice them to me in the OOC or via PM.
The tribes of the Pokemon World were originally united under the worship of the creator of their world, Arceus. But as time wore on, the massive congregation began to break up. Schisms formed and soon there was warring within Arceus' followers. In an attempt to stop the fighting, Arceus created 48 other deities to help unify the different sects and to stop the bloodshed. Arceus was a wise deity and knew that he couldn't make whole the fractured remains of his people. So he had instead settled for temporary peace. The tribes would try and stay out of each others' way and if conflict should arise...well, at least it wasn't as bad as the war that had been threatening to break out. Before ascending into the heavens to leave his scarred world to its own devices, Arceus compiled a book of his teachings and hid it away, so that if the time should come that the world would need his help again, they would be able to call upon their original creator.

Many years have passed and a darkness has fallen over the Pokemon World. The tribal conflict has increased and wild Pokemon are becoming more and more violent. In other news, strange new Pokemon that resemble cave writing have appeared across the globe after blanketing the sky(not suspicious at all). If something isn't done countless lives will be lost. In an effort to restore balance, a message has been sent out to the High Shamans to follow the final words that Arceus transcribed in his book. They must offer up a human sacrifice to appease their angered god(well that escalated quickly).

You are somehow caught up in all of this. You could be a High Shaman doing your job. You could be a sacrifice that is either willingly, or unwillingly, going to give your life for your tribe. Or you could just be a random bystander that cannot just stand by(ironic right?). Well whoever you are, you have just embarked upon a journey that will be sang about in the epics of future bards.

[If you wish to be an antagonist please PM me for details, there are no guarantees, however.]
Arceism: the dominant religion throughout the Pokemon World. Arceism states that Arceus was the original creator of the universe, but left the mantel of  godship to the minor deities(Legendary Pokemon) under his rule. Arceism has split into several different sects, each believing their patron Legendary, or Legendaries, are the most important of the remaining deities.

The Book of Arceus: a text compiled by Arceus himself to help guide the people in their time of need. It has been damaged over the ages and only small fragments have been recovered.

Pokemon Shaman: a class of Pokemon trainer that is able to harness and channel the power of Pokemon to perform acts of magic.

Shamanism(also called Pokemon Shamanism or PokeShamanism): the art of harnessing and channeling the power of Pokemon.

High Shaman: a Pokemon Shaman that has harnessed the power of a Legendary Pokemon. There is only 1 High Shaman per Legendary Pokemon. High Shamans usually act as religious, tribal leaders.

Glad to be back! :D

Gen 6 and/or Mega Evolution

Yep

Priest vs. Shaman

Yes they are, I was afraid that I would accidentally put High Priest. Can you tell me where it says High Priest, so that I can fix it?

While reserves aren't accepted, you may create a WIP application that lists Zygarde as your familiar.

Third line second paragraph, and first line third paragraph

I have a 5 day weekend coming up, so app(s) should be done by then. Any particualar limit to app number?

Oh yes, the region. I should have noted that when I was talking about the non-canon world. Without the marvels of modern technology and the fear of wrathful gods, the peoples of this world haven't traveled much into the ocean. As a result, the entire RP will take place in a region known as Koden, which consists largely of forests, although there are a few deserts and mountains thrown in here and there. There may be some travel to nearby islands and whatnot, but most of it will take place on the mainland. It really isn't meant to have any definable shape so that we are able to utilize the full versatility of it.

As for the fossil Pokemon, there a few around still, although much less abundant than in prehistoric times. Pokemon like Archeops and Cradily are much more likely to be found than Rampardos or Tyrunt. The timeframe is hard to place, as it does take place in a non-canon universe that has developed in a much different way. If you want a gauge for the technology, think fairly primitive. A good gauge would probably be Incan, Aztec, maybe Mayan civilization.
Personal Information:

Character Name: Baron Samedi

Tribe/Title: The Chanceful Tribe / High Shaman

Age: 26

Sex: Male
Baron thinks very fully of himself, and is easily qualified to be a 'pretty boy'. He is very obsessed with his looks, especially when he is around 'the ladies'. Always trying to impress, Baron keeps himself at the peak of physical condition. He is very conscious about what he weights, as any extra weight may affect 'his perfectly chiseled abs'. Baron's work to impress girls doesn't go to waste. Baron attracts all kinds of girls, not just from his own tribe. He doesn't think much of women, seeing them more as a 'beautiful means to an ends.' Let's just say, that if Baron existed in today's society, he and the third wave of feminism wouldn't get along too well. Despite his less than great intentions, Baron is quite charming and rarely ever hears the word 'no'. His charming disposition and soft good looks bring an all new meaning to 'getting lucky'.

Baron doesn't get along too well with most men. He finds them to be disgusting and dirty. And while Baron does work to maintain his physical appearance, he seems to retain an ability to play in the mud without getting dirty. He despises filth of all kinds and keeps himself and his belongings at the epitome of cleanliness.

Baron is fairly even tempered. He keeps his cool about things and continuously looks at things through a more or less indifferent point of view. The only thing that gets Baron really hyped up is someone insulting his looks or the looks of his Pokémon. It is the ultimate wrong doing by Baron's standards and will no doubt end up resulting in quite the messy conflict.

volbeat_gijinka_by_feredir-d4tanoi.png

This should be considered the base for Baron's appearance, as there are a few key changes that should be made. The first, there are no bug characteristics on Baron. So that means that those wings at the back as well as the antennae are nonexistant. The same can be said about the 'eye patch'-thing covering his left eye. The piercings aren't actually there, save those in his ears. Baron does not wear any form of make up, so the eye shadow and glowing crap on his face are not there. His clothing is a tad more conservative. And by that I mean that the lower portion of the outfit actually reaches his waist and the top vest is actually a full vest, however he does not wear any shirt under it. In short, the more feminine characteristics of the picture fade away to leave a soft, pretty boy in its wake.

As a boy, Baron was never good at hunting. He wasn't good at sports. He wasn't very strong. And, in truth, he was an awkward looking kid. This led him to be picked on constantly, not only from the kids in his village, but also the adults. It was truly an awful way to grow up and it resulted any many tear-soaked hours. However, he only cried in secret. For if his father knew that he even thought about shedding a tear, he would give Baron something to cry about. This usually included a severe beating and several hours of verbal abuse. It was not an easy childhood.

When Baron was 15, he was taken out on his first capturing trip, as was customary for the young men in The Chanceful Tribe. He was sent out into the wilderness and was not allowed to return until he either brought back a Pokémon as a companion or the head of a defeated Pokémon. Carrying only a wooden spear, Baron spent several nights alone and cold in the forest. He had seen several powerful Pokémon that would have made great partners or worthy opponents, but Baron refused to fight them. It just didn't appeal to him. It was on his eighth night in the wilderness that he was woken by the smell of smoke.

Baron may not have been able to fight, or hunt, or fish, or lift heavy things, but by Arceus did he know how to run. He had ran from authority figures, bullies, and his father his entire life. It was time for that skill to come in handy. He sprinted through the forest, leaping over branches and crashing through the brush. He flew passed fleeing Pokémon, but in his flight he caught the sight of what appeared to be a trapped Pokémon. Baron didn't recognize what kind of Pokémon it was, but he knew that something had to be done.

Baron didn't even take time to think about what he was doing. He changed the direction in which he was running, and dashed towards the trapped Pokémon. Just as the fire was about to engulf the two, Baron freed the small, bug-like Pokémon and the two fled the flames together. It was then that Baron first felt the connection. In freeing the Pokémon, Baron had created a connection to the small Pokémon that would grow with time. Volbeat and Baron became inseparable.

Baron returned to his village with Volbeat on his shoulder and was laughed at for bringing back such a weak Pokémon, but the laughter was short lived. Baron demonstrated the powers he received from the connection he shared with Volbeat. Baron immediately gained respect as a Pokémon Shaman.

Over the years, Baron slowly began to become more sure of himself. He pushed himself physically, and alongside his Pokémon friends gained the respect of his tribe. Now a newly anointed High Shaman, Baron is learning how to handle his new job. He retains the same air of confidence, but on the inside he is desperate to end whatever terrible blight has been released on Koden. In addition, Baron has yet to be able connect with the power of Victini and if he doesn't soon, he is afraid that he will not only fail the Koden region as a whole, but also once again be ridiculed by his tribe.
Combat Information:

Familiar: Volbeat
Baron carries three knives. Each is durable and sturdy enough to hold up in a fight, but also light enough to be used as throwing knives if the situation demands. Towards the hilt, the knives are serrated to aid in the sawing of materials.

Baron has recently added a new weapon to his arsenal, but hasn't quite learned to use it. It is a weapon that is passed on to the High Shamans of the tribe and is said to be imbued with the power of Victini. It is a large, metal boomerang. Made of gold, yet hard like iron, the weapon is as beautiful as it is deadly. Legend holds that it will always hit what the thrower wills it, as well as always return to the thrower.

313Volbeat.png

Volbeat likes to strut his stuff. Like his partner, Volbeat is all about looks and appearance. He appears to be quite the sassy little Pokemon, but quite the charmer with the Illumise in the Koden Region.

Ability: Prankster

Moveset:

-Signal Beam

-Bug Buzz

-Zen Headbutt

-Moonlight

405Luxray.png

Luxray hates to be out done. He refuses to back down from a challenge and has never been known to not prevail. Luxray and Volbeat constantly get into fights, always proving Luxray to be the most powerful.

Ability: Intimidate

Moveset:

Crunch

Thunderbolt

Superpower

Iron Tail

Through Pokemon Shamanism, Baron is able to use a form of the Pokemon Move, Attract. This allows him to easily charm his way into any girl's, and occasionally some guys', hearts. Baron is able to make slashing motions with his hands, resulting in a band of yellow light being shot at a target. Those that are hit with the band of light have the sensation of being stung by several bees or stabbed with a needle. Baron has also been able to have a moderate control of flight, but he has not completely mastered the skill as of yet. Baron's most powerful Shaman ability is to take temporary control of any wild bug or bug-like Pokemon in the area.

Baron tends to battle in a flashy manner, using the most eye catching tactics in his attacks. He doesn't like to get too close to his enemies and will often use his environment to avoid close combat. Given the right situation, Baron overwhelms his enemies with swarms of insects.
Additional Information:

 • Baron has an intense fear of snake-like Pokemon.

@Cherz: The character is good, but I can't help but think that it belongs in a different tribe. You have created a very independent female character, which I think would belong in the Magmis Tribe over the Chanceful Tribe. I would ask to go in and clean up the app before I accept you.

Alright, so I have read through Lua again, and it seems that you have changed her to be the High Shaman of her tribe, but then you don't make Cresselia her Familiar. Not only that, but the position conflicts with what you have stated in Lua's personality description.

Is this still alive?

Question: Do we need to be part of a tribe or can we start off solo?

Unfortunately I need a few more people to take interest in this before we can even start, so unless some people want to join I think this is pretty dead. As for your question, I prefer that you are a part of a tribe, but if you give me a good story, I will let you have a solo

Question: Can we use Hidden Abilities? They are shown to naturally exist.

And a heads up - I'm going to add a couple more characters. The bios may be a little copypaste...
Personal Information:
Character Name: Natura Grisaia
Tribe/Title: None/Pokemon Shaman
Age: 14
Sex: Female
Natura is quite the coward, one cannot deny, always using the most underhanded of tactics to battle. She will always avoid large tribes, and will only attack individuals or small groups. She isn't exactly evil, but she is cruel to her opponents, caring little about their safety or lives. In other words, she is cowardly but relentless. However, she is caring towards those who actually care about her, or her Pokemon.

Natura is has fair skin and is very slender. She is 1.4 metres tall and has a B-cup. Her hair is of medium-long length, and it literally blooms flowers from time to time. Her eyes are a shining emerald. She wears very little, only donning a pair of leaves to cover her chest, and another two to cover her... ummm... lower body's suggestive areas, and hence, her bare midriff and back are revealed. A necklace is seen around her neck. She also has some vines around her thighs, meant to be used for battle.

The mother of the three Grisaia sisters was once a member of the Originals. Her motive was to steal the Book of Arceus for her own purposes, believing that she can be omnipotent should she get her hands on it. Unfortunately, her beliefs were discovered and she was, sadly, sacrificed. Her three daughters ran away, training in the art of PokeShamanism by themselves.

The three sisters have parted ways. Natura currently lives in the forested areas of the region. Alongside her sisters, living in their mother's legacy, she has been collecting a few pages of the Book of Arceus, competing with the Originals.

However, due to the recent events, she now believes that being a hero and having her name written in history might lead to potential godhood. Hence, she has embarked on this quest to halt the foes. Little does she know, being a hero isn't just about fame...

I love the character, but I don't want to see you put forth so much effort into characters that probably won't get used. With the lack of attention here, my own attention has been diverted to the Teen Titans RP, so unless activity really kicks up here I don't see this ever leaving the ground.
